Retailers saying it was the most successful console launch in recent years so I'm sure investors won't be too worried

Nintendo shares rise 4.1% on performance of Nintendo Switch launch sales.

I have never really been a Nintendo fan. but if the sales don't replicate that of the Nintendo wii, it might the last console produced by Nintendo. Which is sad to say.

Highly doubt it will be the last console, Nintendo are much more successful financially than either the playstation or xbox brands. Gaming would be pretty boring if it wasn't for Nintendo, although the PS4 and Xbone are good consoles both are essentially mid range custom gaming pc's.

It did in America. Reports this morning that it's the biggest Nintendo launch weekend there. UK sales it fell slightly behind. Switch had 80,000 units, Wii sold 107,000 units.
Except the DS which almost, almost outsold the ps2?
AND the Wii launched at Christmas (well, November).
Japanese sales figures for the Switch put it in the same ballpark as the Wii as well, but then Japanese sales figures for the Wii U also put it in that ballpark!
This is a decent price for a pre-order though, and hopefully a sign of things to come with things settling down following the launch tax. It seems mad that a game launched 4 months after the Wii U is only just making it out onto other consoles. This used the Wii U Gamepad quite nicely imo, so it will be interesting to see how that transfers.

Isn't the switch the only console launch in recent years? Kinda makes it successful by default with no competition

Thanks OP. I had this game for the Wii U but never got around to playing it. I'm now kind of glad I haven't yet played it. Really looking forward to playing it on the go.

This is just what a new system needs, a port of a game released about 4 years previously.
(Just want to add that I have a Switch, and am waiting for something other than Zelda that is worth playing).

Sales figures show it sold 80,000 units which is double the Wii U and only 20,000 less than the 3DS,
Wonder if Amazon will price match this?

Excellent price. Just ordered for store collection. Amazon charging £10 more. Seems Amazon quite expensive for Switch games at present
