Yeah, I know it's Gearbest, but this looks a fab deal for a 4:3 ratio tablet! Apparently it's a budget iPad mini clone with a fully laminated screen and near stock Android 6.0 (Marshmallow). Wahoo!

Does this have much of a following on xda etc Sometimes these tablets have issues and you can't rely on the manufacturer to fix them
SClub
12 Mar 17#12
Not yet, as I think it's a relatively new model. That said, there's a firmware update out already to fix a couple of things (screen brightness, camera crashing). In all honesty, I wouldn't trust a manufacturer to support a tablet at this price for too long (or at all for some Chinese manufacturers). I'm not hearing of many issues with the OS though (which is near stock, apparently).

paid via paypal, and money has defiantly gone through. ive bought a ludicrous amount of stuff from gearbest/banggood. only ever had one problem, an xiaomi bluetooth speaker that I recieved, was of 'questionable' quality. im not convinced it was genuine, the numerous xiaomi headphones and power banks and other stuff ive had have been superb quality, but the speaker I got was not of that ilk.

Dispatch: Ships between Mar 18 - Mar 19
But that has now changed to:

Finally got it yesterday and played around a little. As mentioned in previous reviews, when using headphones at low volume there is an audible crackling noise. Slightly annoying but considering it's drowned out when listening at normal volume it won't be noticed too much. Apart from that it looks very nice and performs pretty well. For the price I can't fault it
It has a premium feel to it like an iPad Mini, for quick browsing and watching stuff on I would definitely recommend it.

It fits, of course it's meant for the iPad so it hides the volume buttons, the USB and headphone jack. But the one I bought I can slightly move it off a tiny bit to get access to them. Plus the one I bought comes with a back cover and iPad like smart cover for the front which actually works when you want to use it as a stand. For £4 I would recommend it to be honest. I couldn't find any that were made for the iFive 4S. The one I bought in black was Fleabay Item No. 121587963871

Thanks for the feedback. I didn't think it would be a tailored fit but as long as it protects the unit it'll do for me, ordered one at 99p, last of the big spenders lol.

Mine too. Is it supposed to come as two pieces or is mine broken?

Mine came in two pieces, the front hinges onto the hard back cover and when you click the iFive into place it also serves to keep the hinge locked in place.

Same here, just opened mine (been away for a few weeks) and absolutely blown away for the price. Have you had any issues with apps stopping working? I have a few that keep stopping, Chrome included and just wondered if it could be the update
MystikalGFX
25 Apr 17#67
I've noticed installing the 1.0.6 update has improved the performance. I had major issues with BBC Media Player app just refusing to work or crashing previously on stock fw, but since the update it's performed a lot better.
Please note, based on the instructions they provide, updating to 1.0.6 requires a wipe of the tablet but it's fairly easy to follow.
Thanks for the response. I'm already on FW 1.06 but it seems to keep persisting with most apps on the tab. It's both when actually in the app and on the homescreen, the "Unfortunately xyz has stopped" has been coming up. Everything from games to Google Apps seem to be affected. Anything similar for you? May be memory related or something
MystikalGFX
26 Apr 17#69
Can't say I have that same issue, to be honest, I think a wipe and re-install from the above link I posted might help.
Ever since I did the wipe and upgrade it's worked smoother. Recently on XDA they figured out a way to root it as well, may be worth while checking it out if your issues persist?
