There have been a few laptop deals recently which have gone cold, and there is a perceived lack of activity in the category because of this. Gaming laptops are rarely deals because they are essentially very expensive laptops. So this deal really is for information I guess.
At the moment, Amazon are running a promo where you can get a free XBOX ONE elite controller with this laptop. Coupled with the already decent price for the laptop I think makes this a good deal.
I do believe this laptop may have been posted from a 'catalog' company with a new customer discount, so this would suit people not eligible for that, or unwilling to open new credit facilities.
The elite controller offer runs until early April.
Also, you can spend £100 more to get an i7 7700hq instead of the i5, plus a 256gb SSD instead of the 128gb.

not sure i can handle a video from a potential future but carry on posting
it just reminds people how utterly vacuous your posts were
you were asked to back up your repeated ramblings and couldn't do so
now you just call attention to the fact every time you post an inane link/image
you must be using special search for special people
my search only shows things that actually exist right now and not what might be

you know if you dont want people to pick up on your points then you should make some better ones?
'stuff might get cheaper at some point' genius
when you smugly repeated time and time again 'google is your friend' it was meaningless as google didn't report back with 'woah there - loads of better deals to be had.... maybe... one day' did it?
'google and you will find several alternatives' = not a single alternative other than waiting and waiting for a deal that may or may not come
so yet again - irrelevant

Seek and ye shall find....
I bought a XPS15 9550 (i7, 4K, 960m, 512GB SSD etc) for less than £700 last year when it was retailing for well over £1k.
Before that I bought a Y50-70 (i5, 860m, 1TB etc) for £479.
You just have to know where to look and be patient.
£830 for this Omen with a terrible screen is pretty meh. There is better value and bang per buck to be had elsewhere. Dropping £830 on a 2GB 1050 at the start of 2017 also isn't really the way to go....

but lets clarify what you mean
do you mean google will help us find a better laptop? ok, i am sure google will help us find many many better laptops - at a price
what would be interesting would be better/more powerful laptops for the same money or less
none of this 'pay more get more' shock horror rubbish
and not vs this deal as this isn't as good as as either JL deal which are new and with 2 years warranty (both coming with that xbox elite controller by redemption too)

dell is irrelevant, costs way more (988 is cheapest i see after discount) and not new (screen smaller may be problem for some too)
2nd link better but costs more than equivelent omen @ 719 on JL and has a TN screen
Don't think that this deal is overpriced in terms of alternatives availible but if you look at gaming performance its probably worth spending an extra 100-200 for a laptop with a GTX 1050ti or GTX 1060.
Wow, you really are something out of the clown bin.
Google and you shall find several alternatives.
There's also an i7 version of this exact same Omen laptop for the same price as this, so its hardly the best deal out there.

I think these Omens are fairly tricky to upgrade. Plenty of screws and some case prizing involved.

Ahh well spotted. Most of these budget GTX 1050 laptops have a 128gb SSD so I completely missed that.
Guessing the chassis still has a spare bay, could buy a 250gb+ with the money saved.

2GB RAM is sufficient for laptop gaming at 1080p. Only if i were to go for 4K or use ultra high resolution textures, this would matter

Struggling to spot the difference between the ax202na and ax203na models.
I was sorely tempted to buy this from John Lewis this morning...
Seems like a bargain at £719, just concerned about the 2gb VRAM and screen quality... plus the fact I want a 1080 Ti for my desktop :stuck_out_tongue:

and the i7-7700 vs the i5 on this one
this is just a price match of the hp site - generally 2-10% codes for hp store as well so cheaper than amazon

Either of them do look pretty good. I'd say the £100 is worth the upgrade.

That said the Omen by HP 15-ax200na Laptop (15.6 inch, Full HD, Intel Core i7-7700HQ, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050, 2 GB GDDR5 Dedicated, Windows 10) - Dark Grey
version is £929 so still a deal perhaps
Depends if people consider a double in ssd size and CPU upgrade to i7 7700HQ (with maybe no 1tb as i can see) worth the extra 100 to 929

As it happens, I don't think this particular laptop comes with the controller. It has the offer at the top of the page, but following the link shows that only the i7 version is eligible. Worth checking if thinking of purchasing!

Refurbished for approx 900 pounds (including the 15% offer at the moment). Includes the GTX 1060 which is far superior to the 1050 in terms of gaming performance and should run most current games at ultra in 1080p 60fps min.
Don't think that this deal is overpriced in terms of alternatives availible but if you look at gaming performance its probably worth spending an extra 100-200 for a laptop with a GTX 1050ti or GTX 1060.
