Lol seems to be changing into Mass Effect.

Love this game though. Glad they pulled it off so well. Finished it but enjoy messing about. Found lots of unmarked areas. Like one with two Rock biters and several other robots near each other.

I really love this game first hour or two I felt quite board until you get in to the main part of the game. Trust me it's well worth sticking with it fully love no this now 20 plus hours in looking forward to smashing this up while I'm off for 2 weeks end of next week

looking forward to getting this once I'm done with Zelda. about time sony finally got a new ip worth giving a dam about. Finally they have a highly praised game. Microsoft has been crushing them with first party titles and to all those saying Microsoft haven't had a first party in ages halo wars 2 literally just released.... here's to raising a glass to Sony and fingers crossed they keep the bangers coming! Lord knows I want to play my ps4 instead of it being a doorstop.

Games that focus on gameplay and multiplayer. Games like Black ops 3, Titanfall 2 and Overwatch. I don't have time wasting on games that focus on crappy storylines and annoying fetchquests, collectibles and escort missions. I live a busy lifestyle so need an instant fix and I honestly don't get how people have time for single player games unless they are unemployed and on the dole.

I want to know what game of this gen you place as better than Horizon so we can give some context to your comments.

Like I say, it's not my kind of game, I like dumb ass games like gears of war, the while idea of crafting leaves me cold but it would be good to know what you like.

What do you want to know? The game is basically a Far Cry game. I remember watching an interview on YouTube where an GG employee even admitted Far Cry was a big influence to the game.

13 Mar 17 #133
Well your right. I haven't played it because I don't want to. Just watching the videos of the gameplay bores me to tears. It just looks like a Far Cry clone with better graphics made for social justice warriors and I'd rather play games that are fun to play.

You must be great at gaming. With trial and error, getting killed and redoing quests, I dont see how its beaten in just 20 hours.(unless the 2nd time round playing)

Although I admit to doing some side quests and messing around with crocodiles etc

etc etc etc.....proof is in the pudding Sony fanboy. Literally just been through your history, it's laughable.

You've recommended such classics as Drive club, assassin's creed and the unchartered collection. lmao

also, paid reviews is always a fanboy argument, it's utterly pathetic. it's all conjecture, where is the evidence of that Sony fanboy? get a life.
jayjayuk1234
13 Mar 17 1 #126
Critics? oh dear...... most of them are paid for positive reviews.

You can always tell when someone is struggling to hold a conversation when the term 'Fan Boy' is mentioned, it was just a matter of time. (and did you really just use the word 'dude' ........ have we teleported back 15 years??)

I'm a Sony Fanboy? yet I have an Xbox One S, a switch, and have both the Collectors edition of Zelda and the standard version.
zoso1313
13 Mar 17 #125
yes, seasoned critics that studied hard for their careers in the industry don't have a clue....but a two bit Sony fanboy on HUKD is the last word in quality gaming :smile::smile:

jayjayuk1234
13 Mar 17 1 #123
Sorry, but these are all opinions, and because I don't share those opinions i don't understand gaming?

You can go anywhere in Zelda, so can the creatures apparently as they just vanish into rocks in front of your eyes.

Genius puzzles, ha... using magnets pausing time, all been done before. Nothing new here
Graphically it's 10 years out of date, it's almost cell shaded
Combat is monotonous, cooking is dull

What ground breaking stuff is this iteration of Zelda bringing? ummmm. nothing

Anyway, not getting into a Zelda debate in a Horizon thread

You clearly feel you need to justify forking out 330 quid for a Zelda game and an underpowered console.:smile::smile:

Hopefully, we don't get this Zelda crap in EVERY ps4 thread!
zoso1313
13 Mar 17 #122
a statement like that means you don't understand gaming imo.......it's nothing to do with nostalgia. I'm not a fan of Skyward Sword, Twilight Princess, Wind Waker. They are all cut and paste Zelda's with zero innovation. BOTW is full of creativity, charming characters, wonderful music when needed, genius puzzles, brilliant interesting story, enjoyable crafting, challenging combat and has a sense of fairytale wonder to it all. it's exactly how an open world game should be, and where Skyrim and Witcher failed because they take the whole thing so ridiculously seriously. also, you can literally go ANYWHERE vertically or horizontally in Zelda, something no other open world game has achieved properly. graphically it looks like a beautiful water colour painting come to life. breath of the wild is an absolutely monumental achievement, and will be the benchmark for years to come.

horizon is a very very good game, looks stunning, but it's not even close to a masterpiece. the gameplay is generic, it's not breaking any new ground, it's all a bit meh. tbh the best PS4 game I've played this year is Nioh.

these types of gaming conversations can be had anywhere, why not, people may be deciding which to buy.
jayjayuk1234
13 Mar 17 #121
The issue is that Zelda carries with it a huge fan base and nostalgia from the 80's, and Horizon is brand new. If people are comparing it now, then this already speaks volumes about this game.

However, other than being open world, both games are completely different.

You have you opinion about Zelda, and others have theirs. Why you all have to post it in this thread though remains a mystery.

Why not go and make a Zelda thread, I personally feel BOTW is the worst one so far, for various reasons i won't go into here, but it's a debate for another thread.
zoso1313
13 Mar 17 #120
lets see which is being talked about in 5 years. In my opinion true gamers understand games, and suggesting that Horizon comes ANYWHERE near the quality of BOTW is absolute nonsense.
Tequila
13 Mar 17 #119
That is very true.I am a fan of Zelda games myself (not a fan of Switch though) and frankly the majority of the praise Breath if the Wild gets is nostalgia rooted.
there is no doubt it's a great game, but terms like best game ever made!! is just silly and dumb.

I'd like to know what these nostalgia driven scores and reviews would be,if the title wasn't Zelda and if it wasn't released on a Nintendo console.

Horizon on the other hand is a top notch, masterpiece game and many will rightfully argue it's better than Breath if the Wild in every way.

I didn't play it on easy mode.

I played it on normal, and I only played the main quest/story, doing so you will experience the full mechanics of the game. You can say, oh but there's 1853 side quests, there may be, but for the most part they are monotonous and mundane - go here, kill this, receive reward. Played, completed and sold, on normal.

Both sides of this debate have valid point.

Let's define linear:
linear
ˈlɪnɪə/
adjective
1.
arranged in or extending along a straight or nearly straight line.
"linear movement"
2.
progressing from one stage to another in a single series of steps; sequential.

While in a literal sense then as in #1 an open world cannot be linear, going by the second definition a game could be both open world and linear ie progressing sequentially

Definitely looking to add Horizon to my collection once I have a tad bit more money. Got Zelda and Nier over the last few days, and it's not as if I'll be playing either of those any time soon...

But yeah... Horizon is definitely on the radar. Along with Little Nightmares (Day One) and Prey (slightly further down the line).

Sony is really killing it this generation. Not only in terms of third party content, but also with regards to their first party offerings. And in my honest opinion, if you have a PS4 or XBox One, you really don't even need to look further afield. Especially when there is so much other stuff to be getting on with - and that's before one even entertains the notion of having a (Switch) "second console".

It's weird that people are calling this one of the best games ever made.

I'm having fun but it really is just a Ubisoft-esque open world game except there's an interesting story and the combat and monster variety has just enough depth to keep it from being boring.

Also I have just about every system (and I mean every system as I am also into retro gaming), and although I enjoy gaming I need to fit it round the fact I also find the time to run not one but two companies/businesses, find time to go out with the wife, socialise with friends, enjoy numberous hobbies ...... so he must be right - no life!

You do not have to believe me. Again, none of the consoles will let you play games in true 4k for at least next couple of years.ps4 is GPU upgrade only, the picture will be a bit smoother, more crisp and detailed but do not expect revolution, it's evolution only.

I find this difficult to believe, I recently purchased a ps4 pro and done a wee experiment switching hdmis (ps4 and ps4 pro) with battlefield 1 and TLOUS and thought the pro was a great upgrade, looks much more crisp and seems smoother somehow.

So a game that was actually developed with the pro in mind I would think would be incredible on that system.

12 Mar 17 1 #62
Sense to the senseless perhaps. Your assumption is that people play more when they have more than one console. It's about having a choice of game you want to play with your limited time rather than being restricted to one consoles lineup. Two people only have 5 hours a week to play games, one can only choose games released on one console, the other can buy/play any game be it Forza, Horizon or Zelda.

I totally agree. The best games coming out are exclusives for both PS4 and XBone. And that's why I'm going to extend my console collection to Switch when it drop down in price a little. Well, just to play Zelda to be fair, but some upcoming titles looks hell good as well. Then I may keep it, leave it for kids or sell for little loss.
Zatos
12 Mar 17 #47
Why not get a PS4 too? You can easily pick one up under £150. One man's meat is another man's poison, Forza Horizon 3 would be better than this and last of us combined for some people. This has good reviews on metacritic but Zelda has perfect scores from most places (97 metacritic) and will more than likely win goty this year. Point being a PS4 or Xbox owner would miss out on this year's best game (maybe even recent years), hence just sticking "loyally" to one console doesn't make sense.

Not cheap, and if anyone else can find it cheaper I'm happy for them to do so, I look at it as a small price to pay if it improves my remote playing - not just on Horizon but on all the other games.

Awesome  mind sharing a link of where you got this?
LoRdPlOps111
12 Mar 17 1 #29
Yep, I looked into that specific aspect of it because I'd heard the button layout was terrible (you'd think they'd have worked on it more as this is such a flagship game) meant to play superbly with the Hori attachment.

I must be a slow gamer, 44 hours in and only 59% completion

but then I have spent hours taking in-game pictures, the game is simply beautiful.

Glad I didn't pick up either a Switch or Wii u in order to play Zelda (may get one later in the year). If you already have a Ps4 and like open world - just buy it.

I'd watched a couple of hours of random gameplay before buying. I'm being surprised by how much better it is to actually play. I'm really enjoying the story and Aloy as a character. The previous time I was enjoying an open world game this much (not counting Skyrim Remastered or my embarrassing soft-spot for WatchDogs 2) - it was The Witcher 3.

Amazing game, the combat is exceptional, cant think of any action game that has combat on par with this.
Graphics are also stunning, it does take elements from other games but makes them better, And it deffo brings alot of its own elements to the table, i can imagine other games in the future taking influence

I'm well into my Zelda on the Switch, that being said I've just ordered a Hori Grip Assist for my Vita to remote play this when I've finished Link's latest. Heat added.
Bure11 to LoRdPlOps111

Does the grip have buttons for r2/l2? If not remote play is really awkward and bad on this game because of the shoulder buttons using the touchpad

It's a good game and I got 20 hrs out of it, a completionist may get 30/35 if you do everything.
Bure11 to icecreamwoman

40/45 for a completionist. That's without taking much time to free roam and explore

Looks incredible on my 4K tv and pro. Sure it looks amazing on a normal PS4. Main reason I upgraded is my old one sounds a fighter jet now as soon as you turn it on!

The launch ps4 does sound like a hairdryer . I am selling mine to vex because I bought a new slim from the Argos offer.
The game is good , combat is great and I like the story but the characters are all a bit serious so far ,side quests are also good . But I am not a massive fan of open world games (don't like shadow of Mordor or skyrim and thought the worst part of the witcher was the combat) and neither this nor Zelda are changing my mind much

Different types of Open World games really, Zelda isn't for everyone I agree.

Will probably be the first ps4 game i pick up latter this year due to limited gaming time and Zelda(incredible game). Guerrilla deserve a lot of credit for releasing such a well reviewed new IP, Sony is smashing 1st party games right now, Microsoft needs to gets it act together.

Considering it's got good reviews everywhere I don't think it will come down to £30/35 mark too soon.

Super hot (not the game) :P

The game is fantastic, but I have not got far with it due to Zelda coming out 2 days later :disappointed:

If you've not got a Wii U or Switch then you should jump on this deal as it's a great open world action game
