In case anyone's worried about download speeds from Rockstar's servers, this is a GTA V download saturating my 200Mb/s connection:

Sorry mate, I misinterpreted what you meant in your original question. I thought you were asking if it was necessary to lock to game to 30fps in order to avoid poor frame pacing.
I can run a FRAPs benchmark to test frame timing @ 30fps if you like? If you do want me to, do you have a preference as to how the frame rate is locked?

I've got this on PS4 though admittedly not hardly played it, is there any benefit in getting the PC version? Thanks.

Do you understand what frame pacing is? It was widely reported to be incorrect in this game at the time of its release. At 30fps, that is a problem. My CPU won't provide enough power to enable a solid 60fps target, so a lock at 30 with correct frame pacing would be preferable to me.

There is no issue with stutter (or none that I've noticed), therefore no need to lock the game to any frame rate to avoid a problem which doesn't exist.

How do you get it down to £16.99? I logged in and for some reason the price shows as $25.57. Not sure why it's in dollars. I logged in to my account.

If you lock this to 30fps, does it run with properly timed frame pacing? I heard it had awful stutter at launch.
matt101101 to iwo
5 Mar 17#44
There's no need to lock this to 30fps, unless your system can't manage a stable 60fps but you still want a locked frame rate.

I used the stock markets when doing the Franklin assassination missions, I think by the end all 3 characters were either billionaires or had hundreds of millions each. Plenty to buy up all the properties & never worry about money again.

You don't have to, you just can if you want.
It's certainly not a reason to call the whole game "rubbish", especially since it only applies to the multi-player side.

You can link your old account and progress and transfer it via the rockstar social club I believe.

I feel for you, I take it Virgin Media don't operate in your area?
Do you have any mates or family who have a decent fibre connection you could use? As you can see from my screenshot, a saturated 200Mb/s connection means it's downloaded in well under an hour (46 and a half mins @ 200Mb/s or 25MB/s, to be specific).

About 8-10 mbps usually. 2 days indeed. I think I should've shopped Steam. That's usually 1-1.5 for me.

4 Mar 171#19
That's not very quick. What's your connection speed supposed to be?
That's a total download time of about 2 days, isn't it (assuming it remains at 400KB/s)?
matt101101
4 Mar 171#18
Yeah...I'm not sure what's going on there, FRAPS has always picked up the GTAV installer for some reason and it's always running at an apparently really low FPS.
Thankfully the game itself doesn't suffer with the same issue!

You'll also get the updates through Steam. The Rockstar Social club client can be a complete PITA in that regard. If I had to buy again and had the choice I'd get a copy through Steam and not Rockstar.
