This is my first time posting so bear with me. I got this deal for the google pixel through USwitch for the 32GB phone for only £32 a month. The upfront cost yesterday was £119 but today they have dropped it to £25. The vodafone contract includes unlimited minutes, unlimited data and 24GB data. From what I understand this contract directly through vodafone would cost £25 a month. So essentially you are getting the pixel for £192 - if i've done my calculations right.
Let me know what you all think!
Edit: Thanks nathan for the suggestion. If you work it out by removing the cost of the phone outright for a monthly cost of the sim it would be £8.08/ month for the contract.
Voucher Code: Thanks macachy1 and mavericks for posting: the code VC15OFF for 15 pounds off upfront cost works.

How much?!! Is this to tempt Apple fanbois with too much cash?
I'm going to stick to OnePlus for double the capacity at half the price.

That's one way of working out the cost  I normally minus the cost of the phone from the total cost for 24 months then divide the remaining value by 24 to get an effective monthly cost of the sim

Yeah that phone is going to be upwards of £800 I reckon. The Z5 Premium has barely come down in price in the 18 months it's been around. Also the massive top and bottom bezels are a put off for me. The one feature I love is the 960fps slow mo. But with it only being in bursts it kind of cheapens it.

If I'm paying a premium price, I want a premium product. From the various reviews I've read, most recommend purchasing the equivalent iPhone for the same price. I know there's a risk they were paid by apple to say that and I'm not anti android, I just thought they were supposed to be the "same technology for less" sort of company but they've upped their prices and not their game.
Slim91
3 Mar 17#33
Whilst expensive, a general consensus is that it is one of the best android phones on the market, but a little safe and boring (can be a good thing if that's what you're in to).
I personally see little argument that the pixel phones are worth less than the other flagships. Also in my opinion, the choice between pixel and iPhone 7 is entirely down to whether you want iOS or android, rather than hardware related.
BrianM to Slim91
3 Mar 17#34
The argument goes that Google jumped in to the top-end of the market before establishing a reputation at that price point - and with what has turned out to be largely a "buy in" of a design HTC did for themselves!
If I wanted a premium Android I would go for an S7 personally - at least it has some track record! Or alternatively an iPhone - just as expensive but with lots of pedigree!
Slim91
3 Mar 17#35
Risky from a business perspective. Doesn't make a difference when it comes to performance, software and hardware though - which easily competes with any top end android. Google are a big enough name when it comes to Android for me to trust, plus reviews have been solid.
May just be me. If Tesco developed a phone, if it performed great, the brand wouldn't put me off.
Galaxy s7 is a great phone though.

I am big fan of android but if I had to pay the same price as apple then I would not buy google pixel. The main reason is they only support phones for 2 years max while with iPhone I am looking at about 5 years.
Now if google supported upates for 5 years then yes I am happy to pay the high price.

I recently was forced to make a decision on a new phone. My nexus 5 kicked the bucket after just over 3 years. The pixel was £600 in the shop SIM free, and the iPhone 7 was £580. Although I'm an Android guy, the pixel just felt really poor value with inferior build quality, and no particular water resistance of note. I'd have paid maybe £3-400 for it but it's well overpriced imo.
After swithering over the iPhone 7, I decided in the end to go for a Samsung a5. I thought the non vanilla Android and Samsung crapware would get to me but it's a really great phone for under £400 and three software isn't intrusive. Better build quality than the pixel imo.
I recommend actually trying these phones or in a shop. You don't save masses buying online and it's nice to try them out...

5 Mar 17#56
how are you finding the a5's camera? I had read a review effectively saying that the s7 edges it and that should be around the same price contract wise ( i do like the look of the a5 its just that i think the s line is more 'polished' around the edges)

3 Mar 17#41
People still take out 24 month contracts?! I don't understand the gradual switch years ago from 12 to 18 and then 24 but I thought 12 had become the standard contract length for at least the last 5 years.

On the official Voda site it's 6 months I believe.
I called them earlier regarding an upgrade and they were very dismissive. It's going to be easier for me to cancel my existing and request a PAC code to transfer the number.
Technically, if you're due an upgrade then mobiles.co.uk should be able to upgrade you. But I know there have been issues before with not cancelling the old line and being charged twice.
I'm taking the safer option, albeit I will have a number overlap for a day or two.

4 Mar 17#49
just spoke to voda live chat, they gave me two options 1)they're going to move me to pay as you go and once thats done i can just fill an online form and move across from pay as you go to this new contract. 2) Alternatively i could just get a pac code and move to another networks pay as you go sim and then transfer back to this pixel deal.
Mavericks
4 Mar 17#50
i dont think this will be locked though. EE is the only official network that sells the pixel. i believe this is essentially an unlocked pixel with a pay monthly sim bundled together.
ive ordered it anyways, so will let you know when i get it.

My daughter is about to sign up to Three at £18/month for 30GB, unlimited calls n texts. I can't find a better deal for similar data use.
For an extra £14/mnth (and £10 upfront after the voucher) this is £346 for a £600 phone!
My son and I were looking for new phones & planning on spending about £200 (I fancied the Lenovo P2 for its battery life). Sorely tempted to spend the extra for the better camera & processor in this, ironically a much worse battery life though. Touch choice. I guess if we hate it we can just sell it to CEX for £341 (assuming it's unlocked) & get our money back.

Is this an amazing deal? I thought it would go scorching when I first saw it but it's not gone as high as I first thought. I'm wanting a new phone, with a brilliant camera. Not too bothered about so much data as I know I will not use it. Anyone know of any better phones for less?
Slim91 to aandyr123
4 Mar 171#55
Largely because people are upset that that days of budget Nexus are gone and they think Samsung and Apple automatically deserve to be more expensive because of the name.
The 'premium' phones (s7, iPhone, pixel) all trade blows and are all priced about the same on contract.
There are great cheaper phones, but that's of you want to lump a few hundred out in one go.
Pixel is one of the smoothest phones and has a great camera.

The Pixel uploads all your photos and videos to Google Photos at full resolution and automatically deletes them from the device if you run out of storage. So 32GB shouldn't be an issue unless you need photos, videos and music stored on the device.
My current phone (a Lumia 1020) does something similar with Onedrive; I'm using 19GB of its 64GB memory.
