I'd imagine that if you were to CrossFire two RX480s you'd be better off going with 8GB models (to achieve VRAM parity with the GTX 1080), which cannot be bought new for £150.
There's also the less reliable performance, additional power consumption and additional heat output to consider, as there is with any CrossFire/SLI setup vs a single more powerful card.
Let's not pretend it's an open and shut case of "just getting two RX480s for £150 each".

Its almost as powerful as a GTX 1080 in Ashes of the Singularity. If you don't mind half the minimum frame rate.
If you want actual performance, in all games, the 2x 480 is *terrible* value.
Recommending crossfire OR SLI to anyone must be done with extreme caution, or to people you hate.

Thanks for posting. I've ordered it, though I literally ordered the MSI GeForce GTX 1070 ARMOR 8G OC for £335.99 half an hour ago!
Does anybody know how much one actually pays if paying directly in Euros using a credit card? I know Amazon's own currency conversion isn't that favourable as they make a relatively high profit on it, but I'm curious to see how far off the £316.97 it would be if paying directly in Euros.

It depends on what credit card you used. It can be quite a bit if you used one of the regular cards.

The actual cost of this is £323 shipped, using a fee free card if you assume the currency rate is set as of now, at €1.145 to £1, Amazon want to charge £335, if you pay in local card currency of GBP.

Don't forget to factor in the cost of a fire extinguisher and a 1000w PSU.
Those cards run a lot hotter and are much hungrier than a 1070/1080.

Plus it's been proven that unless a game is optimised for crossfire/sli you will not see more than 20-30% performance gain. Having said that I have nothing to back this up with but in today's world we don't need to evidence things anymore.

Very good card, I have one myself. Overclocks to 2165mhz before the temp increase brings it down to a solid 2119mhz. Haven't seen the temps go over 72* either so can't fault it at all.

Agreed. I've always preferred to run with one card rather than paying twice the cost in electricity, which is the main expense in the long run. There's a 15% drop in performance using SLI/Crossfire too.

accidentally liked that comment :disappointed: you seem to feel like you are well informed on the whole dual rx480 Vs 1080 scenario but there are countless videos on YouTube proving that crossfire Rx 480s are not worth it, poor optimisation on a lot of games with significant stuttering. I have done the crossfire setup and it's jarring, 1070 all day long for 1440p.

X fire is a rubbish alternative. It is not supported in most games and has bad frame time variance in many of the rest.
Wait for Vega. Nvidia cards do not give value long term (some do not even have a 'long term' when you get a bit older and take notice)
Would I pay 450 euro's for this card?

Depends fully on the manufacturer. I.e. Palit does not allow for warranty to be transferred, whereas other manufacturers (like MSI/Gigabyte, I think), it is done by serial number and is transferable.

Indeed. Toms chart is quite useful as a quick gaming reference, http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/cpu-hierarchy,4312.html
Lower end i5 chips haswel onwards are considered better gaming chips because of 'minimum' frame performance being higher..
This balances out at ~ 4.2 or 4.3 gig, even on the 2500k ackchooly.
I really do have 2 mates running unlocked sandy bridge doing there fxcking CRUST about what to build next (such a long time was never expected to happen. Many connectivity features are miles below par now)
My advice; buy an add in card for connectivity if needed and run it at 4.3+ until the board just DIES?
Clocked, they are still tier 1 gaming rigs, you would not notice much diff with a new build until you start messing about with 120 hz plus monitors, and frankly thats all a bit wasted $ if you are a casual gamer like me.(that freesync 1080p 75 hz monitor featured on this site is a good example, but I would go IPS for fantastic video quality;my asus jobby is like being at the cinema!)
'HOLD' is my advice. I KNOW this is a pain in the **** after 6 years.But.
When the cross cluster latency bug is fixed on Ryzen it will change the price of everything.
Any ryzen 6 core running vulkan is going to make the 7700k look rather sedate in games.
