Where do you think I am contradicting myself? I'm just correcting what you said and emphasising why the Swedes are big on family life. It's not a contradiction. A cultural emphasis on family life and a loyalty scheme where you join a family are two things that are not opposed to each other, they're actually quite complimentary.

Kindaa contradicting yourself there I think.

All the family card means is that you're a member of the 'Ikea Family', you can order as many breakfasts as you can eat without a requirement to have kids or a partner.
That said Swedes are big on family life because unlike here they have well funded and comprehensive public services to make that possible. It's written into their psyche, to reorientate society around family rather than place such a huge emphasis on work like we do here.

I think you will find that Family means more than one person, and mostly consists of 2 parents and any number of offspring.

Do you have a choice? I mean my kid would not touch it if its drowned in baked beans like the picture shows, can you omit bits of the breakfast or swap them

This is something that has been going on for a long time, not a new deal at all.
I do need to take advantage this week on my paternity leave though (I'll take my wife too, she deserves a treat  ), can't usually go during the week due to work.

Thanks Mark. Was this with Stena Line directly and was it day return foot passenger only? Where should I look out for these deals? The Cainryan/Larne crossing has ceased now.

I'd go if I could get learn to get round London's North Circular without getting an Average Speed, Speeding Ticket. The roads round there are like some sort Lock Down/Prison environment.

Stena Line had ferries for £5 each way a couple of weeks ago. Fares applied for both Stranraer and Liverpool to Belfast. It was great when Ryanair had flights from the airport, I booked several flights to England for <£1 each way, it's a pity they pulled out :disappointed:
I live close to Ikea and go roughly once per month. The store has been opened 10 years this year but I distinctly remember fry ups were 89p with free tea and coffee back then. Meals have increased dramatically and portions decreased, it's not quite the bargain it used to be but still good value.

I have seen day returns to France for £25 with a free case of wine thrown in!
I was looking at a caravan park on the NI North coast this month - could have got a Breakfree deal 4 nights for £43. However, the promo Stena Line rate for the car was £168 return unsocible times, that is the cheapest you will ever get. The ferries per mile/Km in the British isles are the most expensive in the world. Even people on the Scottish islands get some subsidised fares from the good old Scottish Government as it recognises it causes hardship. I've just been to Haysham, the cheapest IOM ferry until 18/5 is a 3 day return car+2 passengers deal for £126, that goes up to £240 in the summer. I used to work in Norway, a high priced country and was amazed how cheap (in comparison) ferry crossings were.
BigPro
26 Mar 17#38
Is it really that expensive? That is way too much, I was thinking it would be more like £20-£40, and no more than £50. You can take the car to France on ferry for about £79!

Wow, great price! I have been to Ikea lots of times and knew they had a restaurant but never realised they did breakfast for £1.50. That's an insanely cheap price, how can they make a profit on that?
Heat added. And I expect this to be smoking hot by the end of the day.

I visited my local Murcia Ikea last week and I was looking forward to Swedish meatballs for my lunch, only to find the prices have shot up dramatically, have they done the same in the UK or is it to keep out the locals who used to flock over for a cheap siesta time meal. A Menu del Dia at a local restaurant with half a bottle of wine is about the same price.

7 item fry in Belfast and Ikea is a 10 minutes walk from George Best Airport, even more reasons to visit NI.

So can you do anything about the astronomical ferry prices from Stranraer, I'd love to take the car over but with return prices starting from £200 off season, unsocial times to £350 in the summer it's just way too expensive.

Ikea has been using this marketing ploy for years. Yes the prices have changed slightly since they started this marketing campaign years ago.
Helpful reminder for those of us who'd forgotten about it and the few people who don't know. Very helpful bit of free advertising for Ikea.. again.

You know it's a slow day for deals when a non deal for something that has been posted many times before makes it as the hottest deal of the day.

Whatever you do, don't ask them to serve it with only 5 of the 6 items.
I can't stand bean juice over everything. Several times I've tried to get different staff to hold the beans. Explaining I'm still going to pay the same price makes no difference, so I now have to get the beans in a bowl and bin them.
Ikea love non conformity and minimal waste in their furniture, but not in their restaurant it seems!
