Was looking for the elusive £5 off voucher but came across this. It says PayPal will pay for your return postage (of upto £15 per item) of 12 items if you don't like it. Sounded like a cracking freebie to me given I don't mind whether it's Paypal or something else I use to pay. Think I remember something about using PayPal means your standard credit card security doesn't apply so if you want that security, don't use paypal. But for everything else, worth it!
Might be account specific but I had it without any voucher etc. Hope it helps!

I'd argue otherwise. Great for sellers who you wouldn't buy from not knowing what it was going to be like... Encouragues buyers to spend.

Eh, you'd think, but we offer free returns and practically no one takes it. Better to get stuff returned as is for a few quid than they damage it to try and force you to pay the return anyway. Plus it increases buyer confidence.
Depends what you're selling though, clothes are probably going to have a high returns rate, and you can't choose to opt out. But it's paypal paying anyway, you get your fees back so all you've lost is your postage.

I'd say it's good all round due to the increased confidence it gives buyers. Plus buyers can return stuff anyway and most will probably know that if they use the eBay returns system and they select reason as "defective" or "not as described", the seller will be forced to pay return postage, where as this way at least the seller is let off the hook for the return postage cost. With eBay at least sellers are forced to accept returns in any event (the setting when creating a listing makes no difference) so this doesn't necessarily mean more returns just means they don't have to be so costly....

Nothing new been up for months. Mines been activated four around a year now. Also its a right pain getting a refund from these Telus people nearly always ask me to provide info ive already submitted. I normaly just end up going through paypal to get my return postage back as this ''telus international'' are useless

Know exactly what you mean! Attempted to get a refund of £2.99 return postage for a label generated and paid for through PayPal website. Provided screenshots of the transactions and then 2 - 3 weeks later had an email from those idiots at Telus asking for proof that I paid for the postage via PayPal and asked for proof again!
It wound be up that much I almost emailed back asking if they were having a laugh! For the sake of £2.99 I thought f**k it and just left it!

Used once in the last year (once out of approx 50-60 purchases). It's a good back up from dodgy sellers on ebay. Most sellers are fair, the ones I have bought from anyway.

Does this apply to ebay items???
In the past, paypal and ebay have refused to accept (clear and obvious) Royal mail registered post as proof of sending items back, with a serial notorious seller whom had several online warnings on several forums. They seem to back the seller not the buyer

If that happened again ring paypal and say " still haven't been refunded through telus and paypal said if I still haven't had it by today ring you and paypal will refund it" works every time. PayPal are aware of the issue which leads me to think why did they renew the contract with telus. The more of us who complain the better it'll get guys

I buy and sell the odd thing on ebay. I would be a little hesitant on someone sending back a damaged or used item that I have sold them.
Only once so far have bought something that turned out to be pile of junk, the cost of return would have been significant so, if paypal helped on the return price that would have been good for me.

PayPal's buyer's protection is a bit of a scam as they decide on their own which purchases to protect (their reps cannot articulate exactly how long purchases are protected - try it!) and do not abide by the Consumer Rights Act (for faulty goods). Their website says : "PayPal Buyer Protection is neither a product warranty nor a service warranty. No guarantees are given. PayPal Buyer Protection does not affect your statutory rights against the Payment Recipient".
I've heavily used PayPal in the past but have started to avoid following bad experiences and choose to pay directly with my credit card instead.
Not marking cold as free returns might still be appealing for bulky item purchases that cost a fortune to return.

Been like this for a long time, I think for 2 years now? It was an offer last year, that they extended for the entirety of this year.
I've claimed postage on an item I returned a bit ago, for me personally it was a ridiculous hassle just to claim the £3.50 postage. It took them about 15 days to respond to my claim, then we had a long back and forth where it took them 2 days in between each email to respond. My claim was getting money back for a pre-paid label, and I had to continuously explain to them why I couldn't provide proof of payment for shipping alongside all my other evidence, because it was prepaid! This is probably just a one off, and the service itself is great for buyers.I did end up getting my money back, eventually.

I claimed that I just changed mind, if you claim with reason being defective, they will refuse to refund (found in previous posts of this offer).
£15 saved. This was more than year ago and despite it was more than 30 days of posting back,
Telus still accepted and paid

What is their reasoning behind refusing to pay for the return of a damaged item? Sounds weird.
I have a damaged / not as described item from an India based seller and think it would cost more to mail it back than the cost of the item itself, so don't want to end up screwing myself over.

this was ebay item and one of sellers return condition was that buyer pay return postage, no matter reason is (don't know if it's in line with ebay rules)
No worries, non ebay item should be ok if returning defective or damaged...

The catch is they never give you the refund. I've tried 3 times now, each time using fleabays pre-paid postage option so Paypal can see the receipt for the postage but no matter what you do they just ask for more info. You upload the postage invoice you have in Paypal, they can see the refund for the original item from the seller then they reject your claim. It's bloody hopeless.

Besides, using PayPal scuppers your rights under Section 74 of Consumer Credit Act (from MoneySavingExpert): http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/credit-cards/PayPal-Section75
