What is wrong with the DVD Format exactly people?.

After all, the humble CD-ROM originally came out in 1986!!, but it itself was there for almost the best part of 15 years? (before DVD's properly took off?), so .....

Similarly, Blu-Ray's in comparison have been in system for like ONLY 5 minutes?, but already everyone's already hoping it take's over the World, or something? (give it like 5 minutes more like please?, lol). :-)

And besides which, are you going to honestly tell me that, for the sake of you die-hard Blu-Rayness, your going to pass up the opportunity to miss out on FREE Cinema Tickets?, for the premise of an only £3-£5 DVD?.

A £3-£5 DVD, to which your Blu-Ray Player's would blatantly play anyway ..... lol.

As for the Media Streaming element?, that's neither here nor there? (I guess a bit like the Blu-Ray over DVD argument really?), at any 1 point in time, it's a 50/50?. :-)

I rarely buy them, preferring Blu-Ray istead (although I'm moving onto UHD now).

But DVDs still seem to outnumber BRs in shops. I think a lot fewer people changed up to BR than they ever expected.

And I think today's generation are more into streaming than physical media.

Yeah, a bit like music really - easy to have just a digital library.
Also, for us, we went out of our way to get everything 3D BluRay thinking that when we get our next TV, it would be great to watch everything 3D BluRay, but then 3D died. 4K became the standard making BluRay obsolete. We've now moved to GreenRay but they just call it BluRay Ultra.
So yeah, a bit of a waste of space really.

Buy the DVD then trade it in to CEX. The Stick Man is £2 cash or £3 in store voucher.

Is this limited or can I go a bit nuts and buy 20 DVDs, put them through all on separate receipts and get 20 Cineworld tickets?

(And then take 20 DVDs to CEX because I've most likely already got the ones I want on blu-ray)

If this is similar to the Currys USB drive offer, then you put the receipt number into the web page with a scan of the receipt and a code arrives by email a few hours later.
Use the code on the Cineworld site.

It was really straightforward, didn't need multiple email addresses....and worked great.
5 tickets for Cineworld (usually £9 each) and the USB drives for £40.

This seems good too. Save £4 per ticket and get a free DVD. I'm off buying dead format discs to use as frisbies. :stuck_out_tongue:

Remember you need to buy each DVD separately to get an individual receipt.

Thing I found out the other day my bluray player does not play dvds. Sony PlayStation 4!

By the way your alternative is exchanging Tesco points which gets you a £4.50 cineworld voucher.

I agree, £5 is a small price to pay to get a cinema ticket and the unwanted dvd could be given away as a gift.

But you have to be really dense to be buying dvds in 2017. HD televisions are standard in almost every household, why pay for Sd when the HD equivalent is a couple of quid more.

It's actually very different. For one, you don't get a free Cinema ticket with a Ferrari.

I'd rather go on a meerkat day, much cheaper. Also paid £6.50 for a ticket recently at a showcase cinema de luxe, fancy reclining seats and loads of leg room.
Signed up for their free insider card, £6.50 for tickets all day Monday and Tuesday and after 7pm on a Sunday.

How is it as "relevant" as a banana? All my friends and I have had a good clear out and made a space saver in the process. Goggle a android box if u don't know what one is. Don't act so bloody simple!

Lmao, no they're not, what gives you that idea? The coating on a Blu-ray disc is over 100 times more scratch-proof than a DVD.

Blu-rays are much more scratch resistant than DVD's yes i know, but I believe they are more brittle than DVD, reading back i kinda said what i meant wrongly... im more than happy to let kids have DVD over Blu ray discs just in case of damage, Putting scratches on blu rays takes effort, and my kids are all about putting effort into breaking things

This only works once bought 2 dvds seperate transactions codes sent from 3 emails once worked 2nd rejected as was same card however in terms and conditions doesnt say cant do that ... then wanted loads of proof so just worth it once

Hey guys I submitted a claim but claim got rejected the reason being it's not an instore reciept, anyone done an online reciept and was successful?

Damn it instore only.

there have emailed me saying they want some form of id but when you reply no one replys back
also it states one per person per email and not one per person

the most annoying thing in all this is there is no one to contact properly

The same thing happened to me so rang tesco customer services and they in turn contacted the company dvd-offers @ filmolgy.co.uk who in turn asked me for proof of purchase which was the receipt for the dvd and after about 4 days filmology sent me a numerical code to do the business,i have yet to go to the cinema...hope this helps, ps when i bought the dvd from tesco the sales assistant knew nothing about the promotion not even the fact that there was a promotion so i had to show her where the dvds on promotional sale were..best of luck:)
