Was looking for a quick check for my bike... At the moment Halfords is doing a free one. It's not a comprehensive one, but if you don't have major complaints, it's great to make sure that your bike is safe to ride.
The check covers the following areas: - The handlebars - The wheels, tyres, and hubs - The drivetrain: the gears, chain, and bottom bracket - The brakes - The saddle
You can also check if your council does Dr. Bike events, but they only happen once or twice a month (if at all).

Most people with a pair of eyes could check these things... It would take more effort to take the bike to Halfords than to just spend 5 minutes checking it yourself.

Echo the comments on trusting halfords. Most local bike shops would have a quick look at tell you what needs done.

No, but they might check the brakes.

You may as well take your bike to your local Indian takeaway, the chef in there will likely be a better bike mechanic than your average Halfords employee.

Well, some might not (how do you tell) but I wouldn't take that chance either.

I wouldn't let any Halfords employee touch a bike. They are likely to ruin it.

I would imagine it's a free check and any work would be chargeable. Similar to how some garages offer a "free" MOT, but then find heaps wrong with your motor.

Do they adjust breaks ect for you? Or do they just check it only?
