I was lucky to walk true 16 countries on my legs true my life. Backpack and hitchhike were great way to met people. And I met lot of great people. I met a guy who traveled around the world in a classic tyrolean leader shorts (lederhosen) and shirt. Other who hitchhiked from UK to China border( he bought cheap byke to pass Afghanistan). Japanese man who climbed 5 of 8k. But I never heard before or see myself the level of tension and anger and fear in current world. One of best person I ever met(from Slovakia) was killed in Pakistan about 4 years ago with whole climbing team like chickens. He saved dozens of lifes as member of mountain rescue team, mine included. No I do not watch Sky news, I'm just older guy who saw past and is not prepared for future.
