Make the purchase, go ask my brother whilst he is here whether he wants to go for it as well.. niece knocks my phone out of my hands onto the tiles in the kitchen. Nice cracked screen, guess savings can go towards a replacement :disappointed:

Assuming I get my sim card on Wednesday, how long will it take to port my existing EE number to an Asda sim and back to this new one? We go away next Tuesday!

Brilliant - thanks  According to EE online chat, I can port my number to an EE PAYG sim and then back again? Very bizarre - I thought I had to move it to another network and then back to EE again. Will have to call to check

Safer to go elsewhere...Then come back.

I just signed up for this and received the sim card today. On MyEE, it's coming up as:
12M SIM Max Plan 7GB £26.99

Isn't it supposed to be £16.99 per month?!
MrB_1977
27 Mar 17 #16
Me too, just registered online on EE and i'm also seeing £26.99 pm
Atrocity
27 Mar 17 #17
I just went through all the comments and it appears that others are also seeing this but once the first bill is issued, it will show a £10 discount.

I'm speaking to EE via it's online chat; and the representative has just confirmed that the 'credit of £10 is on my account as it is manual adjustment for some customers so it's not showing yet.'

Panic adverted!

Well it would appear it has.
Quick google shows from EE themselves that it just uses your data allowance as usual.

Is the BT Sport app for only 3 months? And can I redeem it later on in my contract i.e. in September or something or do I have to redeem it now?
vasya
28 Mar 17 #31
When the contract starts? From purchase date or when you activate your sim?
MaskedAvenger
28 Mar 17 #32
As someone with two of these plans now, to answer some common questions:

- £26.99 is always going to show in your account. Your bill will be £16.99 with a discount applied
- BT Sport is 12 months
- Apple music is 6 months
- You can tether
- Roaming applies to calling within the EU, but not from UK to EU. I.e. call France from Holland or call the UK from France. Don't call France from the UK
- Contract starts at order confirmation date

Hope that helps someone!

Good post. Maybe you can help me. I'm with T-mobile and can't port my number. what's the quickest (and hopefully low cost) option of moving elsewhere for a few days then porting back to the new EE contract? Or is that not really possible? Need to get this sorted as I'm heading to Europe shortly and the free roaming will come in handy. Thanks if you can assist.
MaskedAvenger
28 Mar 17 #34
Move to a Pay as you Go SIM, then move to EE. The quickest way would be to pick up a sim at a supermarket (ASDA seems to be recommended because I think you get a small amount of free credit - i..e no need to top-up) to avoid waiting for the postman, activate and immediately request a PAC/start the port in process.

On a weekday, it will typically be the day after that the port happens. The next day, request the port back (which should happen the day after that). You can certainly get the whole thing done in a week. It's not as painful as it sounds

I happened to have a GiffGaff pay as you go sim with a small amount of credit on it, which I used for the first part of the process. I didn't realise this at first and requested an ASDA sim by post, which took about a week to arrive.
cheaperbythe12
28 Mar 17 #35
BRILLIANT.....thank you. Have an ASDA only a mile away so I'll get myself one of their PAYG sims and do what you say. Thank you very much - it's appreicated.
MaskedAvenger
28 Mar 17 #36
You can get ASDA's instructions here:

mobile.asda.com/new…ard

You then follow pretty much the same process to request your code to leave (the next day after your number is transferred).

EE let you port the number online:

myaccount.ee.co.uk/kee…er/

This worked for me, although some people say you should ring them up to be sure. Just to note I've never used ASDA, but it has been recommended several times here.

Interestingly, this one disappeared for a while and then came back, so you might be in luck. The big difference is how much cashback is available - the £16.99/month seems to be fairly standard.

called Tmobile EE ,retentions been a customer over 10 yrs on 'Sim only 15' 3G 600mins 500 txts 1.5gb data price plan ( all t-mobiles plans max 1.5gb he said? ) , thought i was on an unlimited data plan

quoting these deals they offered me EE 4g unlimited mins/texts , bt sports 12 months , EU roaming and 4gb data £9.99 , not sure but doubt its rollover - guy sounded senior and said only he could offer it

sound like a good deal for me ? is this a good deal generally? will the 4gb Data limit be an issue i mean for BT Sports , i dont use phone for movies ,videos music streaming etc on phone but if i use BT sports app ?
MaskedAvenger
29 Mar 17 #42
That's the same plan as this one. You avoid the minor hassle of submitting a cashback claim. However, that's only 50p/month cheaper than you can get anytime you like on e2save.

I'm in a similar position to you in that I've been an EE customer for a long time. However, I'll end up paying less than £4 month because I went through the hassle of porting in/out and also will submit some online cashback claims. Put another way, it's not a terrible deal they're offering you, but it's not fantastic either! They should really do better for existing customers than making them jump through hoops to get the prices new customers can get easily.

Regarding BT Sport, if you have home broadband (where I imagine you'd watch most of it) then it shouldn't affect your mobile allowance at all.
Blade3

Thanks Masked Avenger - for guys like us who've been there a long time they will try move over to an EE plan thats main reason why were getting a decent deal. Its personal choice , i just didnt want the hassle but from feedback from others on here the cashbacks all good. One point its all done with them in house not 3rd party so can get all issues etc sorted. I do have the 14 day cooling period so I could 'haggle' for more better perks, data price etc

Agree with you, 'they should really do better for existing customers than making them jump through hoops to get the prices new customers can get easily', but theres no loyalty left out there no more its all cut throat competition
Yes thanks I got on technical regarding BT Sport, if you have home broadband (where I imagine most would watch it) then it wouldn't affect your mobile allowance at all

Retentions have said similar to me in the past, and frankly, I don't buy it any more. I have a legal contract with EE, not with anyone else, and they have the same responsibilities. I even have the same login I had before!
Blade3
30 Mar 17 #45
Actually what I meant was that doing the upgrade with T-Mobile/EE means it's all done by them, directly - imagine they have a huge uphaul of all these 'centuries old' / 'came with the building' contracts type T-Mobile/Orange like ours that they're keen to move over to EE , for business profit reasons obviously but also to manage better hence they'll try 'nudge' you over. Yes agree but it's still the same old with same login, rubbish website/app etc .

Personally I'd rather have my legal contract with EE then with another 3rd party , saves a lot of being passed around . Guy did say these 3rd party redemption deals hardly pay up etc etc but then he would say that wouldn't he !

31 Mar 17 #51
As a guess, £26.99 plus the 2.5% RPI increase minus the £10 discount would come to £17.66.

If you joined on or after March 1st, you shouldn't have the increase. Maybe the 'Price Rise Discount' some of us are seeing in our Add-Ons will deduct it again.

15 Apr 17 #58
I had my first bill and it also came to £17.66 - I queried this with EE and the young lady I spoke to agreed that the RPI should not have been applied. Apparently there is a specific team looking at this now and they should be rectifying it for all affected accounts. I will post any progress here (it was just before Easter when i called).

As I have my old SIM final bill and then the new one I cannot really work out what they have done - however, there is a Price Rise Discount showing on mine and my wife's accounts which was not showing on the bill last month, so is possibly how they have corrected the price rise issue?
terriclarkfan
7 May 17 #60
I was in the penultimate month of a 12 month contract with EE when I applied for this 7gb SIMO deal. My billing date was 11th, and I PACed my number out of EE on 10th, and then back into EE on my new SIM.

My final bill from EE for the previous contract showed a £11.58 "Remaining Contract Charge".

I just got round to calling EE to complain, saying I'd given 30 days notice and tried to time my EE PAC use so that it was used on my final EE bill date. The lady on the phone explained how it worked and wouldn't refund it for goodwill. I then asked how I could go about taking this matter to Alternative Dispute Resolution (someone in this thread or another SIMO thread said this process costs the network £500 per complaint?)

I was put on hold for a few minutes, and then miraculously the supervisor did the refund for goodwill "on this occasion only".

I'm sure EE are correct in interpreting the contract's T&Cs, so I'm genuinely grateful for the refund.

The lady said that the way to do this in future is to ask for a PAC on day #1, and then give it to the other network on day #28. It takes two days to go through (I thought it was next day usually?), so that counts as day #30. This should avoid a Remaining Contract Charge in future. Be mindful of Bank Holidays and weekends, as PACs aren't actioned on those days.

Apols if this is obvious to some, but thought it might be worth a heads up for others.
