Well Dyson made the brush roll for the motor head not available anymore today as a separate part and you now have to purchase the WHOLE motor head if you want to replace it, all the other bits are available for the motor head just not the important bit their customers want to purchase the brush roll.
Wouldn't touch Dyson with a barge pole over hyped marketing priced made in Malaysia poor quality components and overall average performance anything after the DC14 is poor. These models your getting now are ages old tech they are already 2-3 designs ahead but wont give you them as they can make loads of cash out of what they already designed 2-3 years which you will get next year.
This is certainly not worth £200 this costs them about £60 to make.

I was sceptical of the whole Dyson brand but I wouldn't be without my V6 now. The size, weight and charge on this are perfect for me to whistle over the floors in a few rooms a day and stay on top of things, without turning hoovering into the kind of chore I was doing far less frequently because of the hassle.

I called Dyson at the weekend to get some spares for my DC50 sent out under warranty and they offered me a V6 cordless for £179! I think I will call back and get it!
Some people have way too much time on their hands to argue about brands and why Dyson is!
Got one of these. Love it. Buy this, you won't regret it. Its so much more convenient and easier to use. Especially when you have pets.

What rubbish. I have a V6 fluffy and it's fab. Picks up so much more than my old Vax did.
The only 'major pitfall' I could say is that it needs emptying often- probably about 4 times if I do the whole house. But it's worth it. So light and easy to whip round the house in half the time of the old traditional vaccum. Compact and easy to store too. If you have a large house you may not get round it all during the charge time, however I manage fine on one charge with juice left over usually. It's also great just to quickly whip out and vaccum up any small bits rather than having to lug out your traditional vaccum and plug it in etc. Good for the car too.
I like my fluffy but it's only worth paying more for the fluffy model if you have a lot of hard floors. However saying that I paid £179 for mine via the Dyson Ebay outlet, so if it was me I'd wait for a bargain to come up on there. They are refurb units but mine was like new.

I have a V6, thought I would do an impartial mini review to help others.
I love mine and think it's great for cleaning up Labrador hairs, it's super convenient.
Suction is pretty good for the size and you can mount it on the wall so it's in easy reach. It is a breeze to move around and get into difficult places. It's also great for the car.
Main downsides are the tank is a little small so needs emptying regularly, it also gets blocked quite easily. The brush head does clog up if you try to pick up larger pieces of muck, but it's easy to take off the cover and remove any blockage.
I wouldn't recommend using it as a full size hoover replacement but it's great for a quick runaround. You can always pull out your bulky old hoover when doing a big spring clean.
However, if your looking for a cordless you really can't go wrong at this price. It's just so easy to use and a quick hoover up takes 5 minutes (instead of 30!).

Great dogs but even male labs seem to shed their entire coat on a weekly basis!
I have the Animal variant so not sure what the difference is, maybe the brush head? But it's an absolute godsend as we need to hoover up at least 3 times a day, it would be a nightmare unwinding and pulling out the hoover so often.
Good luck with the lab! They are hard work but super friendly and total nutters!.
aj_GB
29 Mar 17#46
Sweet - so the asthmatic found the inhaler. With regards to the turbo mode being as powerful as the DC32... - best joke of the year.
Factually - its about 1/8th the power of a standard vac. and lasts about 20mins. Batteries are degradable by nature, so if you pay £200 today, that means in about 18months, you will have a very expensive even lower powered cordless vac.
There are better cordless vacs out there, we had the v6 fluffy variant, it was returned with 7 days. If you actually want your house clean get something else. Don't get bought into the shiny shiny-ness of Dyson. Just my opinion.

This is Dyson's original account - this implies that people are essentially paying double for the handheld, then having to send the unit back to be refurbished with is then being resold on eBay. That's is a ratio of 1 cylinder : 48 V6 handhelds being sold.
You can validate all the facts and figures from the listings, i'm just trying to factually support that i have found/think this product is terrible.

I too have a lab. With the milder weather coming in he has really started to moult badly, I'm surprised he's not bald now with the amount he sheds tbh.
I have a V6 Absolute. If I hoover every day then the normal setting picks up the hair. If it's been a couple of days then I use the turbo setting.
All my family (including the kids) vacuum much more often simply because it's so easy to whip out and use. It gets in alongside beds in the small bedrooms so much easier than my previous 'normal' vacuum did for example.
My ONLY gripe is that for me personally, I don't find the battery lasts long enough. Especially on days where the lab has been over the whole house sharing himself with all and sundry.
Ideally I would like two but that's not going to happen!

Yep, that's 1 opinion, here's another:
We just moved into a new place that had female students in before. No matter how much we vacuumed the carpets we could not get rid of all the long hairs embedded in them.
Bought a V6 Absolute and even with the few mins charge it had when we unboxed it, it pretty much filled the tank straight away. Yes our old vacuum was a bit ****, but still we were amazed at how much hair and dust etc it pulled up in literally a couple of minutes - we had no idea there was that much hair embedded in the carpet.
So what would you recommend instead of the V6? What did you buy after taking back the V6?
nadnerb
29 Mar 17#52
What if the handhelds sold 48x more units than the cylinder? The ratio of refurbs would be the same between the 2 models.
Basically, what you're trying to prove doesn't mean anything unless you know how many were manufactured/sold in the first place.

Dyson, Samsung, Apple all bad no value in the products offered to the cost of what you pay. There are a lot of companies that are honest and do offer good value. Lot of people do care how much they spend but there are equally those that have no clue how much then spend these are the people Dyson, Samsung & Apple love and are most of their customers and no I am not being disrespectful to people who do own these products and do enjoy them.
Kankan101
29 Mar 172#62
I never owned a Dyson I've used them a lot as I've repaired hundreds, I was at the DC15 launch event and it went flat from there for Dyson no one was impressed.
I have a Vax 6150SX cost me £80 new had it for 10 years still going very strong and it can do a load of stuff a Dyson cant, suck up ceiling adhesive, getting mucky outside dragged through puddles and falling over from being pulled left right and centre every where, falling down stairs, none if it broke at all and does wet/dry/shampooing and has a Wessel Work air flow turbo head and is the bees knees puts a Dyson to shame on performance and build quality.
Dyson lost there way after the 14, and since then charging the money they do for them, if they were £100-80 less they would be much better value product. Great products gone bad, they need a tv show on that

Not strictly true without suction the roll will deliver dirt back into the apparel, their has to be enough to clear the brush roll within 2-3 revolutions else the brush pick up losses' its efficiency and is the reason why Dyson needed to design high rovo motor to compensate for this and have high mass roller to again compensate for the lack of suction, small gap faster airflow. Since the 34 its been close to the edge of barely there just enough to make the difference, sorry me to techy there.

To get round it log on to your paypal and disable the security key, the paypal credit thing should then work, after that's complete log back onto paypal and switch the security key back on. Not all that happy with them giving some credit limit above the cost of the vacuum think it was 3k or something, such practices should be outlawed, but the actual vacuum cleaner is excellent!
