The Phantom 3 Standard from DJI.
Safe, easy, and fun to fly, the Phantom 3 Standard makes it possible for everyone to reach for the sky. With an intuitive flight system, built-in camera, live HD view, and more, the Phantom 3 Standard gives you everything you need to fly.
Automatic Flight Assistant
Fly with absolute freedom and confidence, knowing your Phantom 3 Standard will return to you at the press of a button. Built-in GPS records your Phantom's takeoff point and remembers it as you fly. Then at your command, or if the control signal is ever lost, your Phantom comes back to you instantly.
Your Phantom 3 Standard stays stable and under your control at all times during flight. After takeoff, it automatically hovers in place, waiting for your command. It then effortlessly changes altitude or direction at the flick of a finger. When you want it to stop, it again pauses and hovers, waiting for your next instruction.
Your Flying Camera
Record moments that you want to remember forever, and share those moments in an unforgettable way. The Phantom 3 Standard gives you an all new perspective of sports, parties, and family events with a built-in camera that captures sharp, vivid 2.7K HD video and 12 megapixel photos.
Shaky photos and video can ruin even the most impressive scenes. Keeping the camera perfectly stable is a precision engineered 3-axis gimbal, giving your footage a little movie magic. As the Phantom tilts and turns, the gimbal holds the camera flat and level, eliminating all unwanted shake.
A View From Above
See exactly what the camera sees with a live HD video feed straight to your mobile device. The Phantom 3 Standard creates its own WiFi network that streams a real-time view from the camera. Frame your shots, watch the world below, and see everything from a new perspective.
Intutive, Powerful Flight
Enjoy the thrill of flight as you speed through the air. Powerful, responsive motors send your Phantom soaring exactly on the path you want. Stop in place, speed up, or fly higher in an instant.
Curved DJI electromagnets are used to spin the motors at high, controllable speeds – all by using magnetic force, without any physical contact, to increase durability. Advances in efficiency and reliability push the limits of current technology and give you longer flights.
Ultimate Control
Full control is in your hands with a remote controller built specifically for the Phantom 3 Standard. Precise control sticks command flight, while a dial lets you tilt the camera to see more. With a built-in rechargeable battery, a clamp to hold your mobile device, and a range extender for up to 0.62 mile (1km) range, this powerful remote makes flying easy and fun.
Unique Mobile App
Snap photos and record videos with just a tap thanks to a mobile app that turns your device into a camera controller, flight cockpit, and more. The DJI GO app makes you feel as though the camera is right in your hands, allowing you to see a live view, control the shutter, change settings, and access a wealth of unmissable features:
Automatic video editor that helps you create a new movie in seconds
User-friendly interface for controlling the camera and flight settings
Live map and radar that tracks your Phantom 3 Standard as it flies
Full flight telemetry including current speed, altitude, and distance
Flight logs to record and remember your best moments
More Flying, More Fun
Fly for up to 25 minutes on a single charge. The patented DJI Intelligent Flight Battery continuously tells you exactly how long you can continue flying, based on how far and at what altitude you are, and it alerts you when it's time to head back. This information is streamed live to the GO app on your mobile device.
Recharging is quick and easy, and bright LED indicators tell you current status and power level. A protective plastic housing helps prevent damage and contains intelligent sensors that make your battery worry-free while extending the life of your battery.

Unless you live in the middle of nowhere, you will find it hard to be able to "legally" fly this for more than a few minutes. However, from my (and others) experiences, 95% of the (private) owners of big drones like these, don't appear to worry too much about "legalities"!!!....

Anywhere is a loose term. You shouldnt fly within 50 metres of people, buildings or vehicles. A nice open field is fine. You are solely responsible for the aircraft and should always be able to have vision of the aircraft. If the aircraft has a camera then privacy laws come into play. As long as you are sensible, insured and know the laws you will be fine. I speak to the bobbys quite often if they approach me on the local field and have a good chat. There are plenty of RC Airfields spread around the country aswell.

True! Wanted a drone for few weeks now after I seen my mate's mavick pro, but tbh I'm sure I won't be using this as much as I think I will, so no need to spend 1k on either PH4 or mavick if I can have fun with this and hopefully sell it without loss at ebay. If you look at video samples on YT it looks pretty sick too (considering how many new models came out since).

Hi there,
I ordered one for delivery tomorrow.
I emailed Jessops Customer Service to ask about warranty and received the following reply.
Thank you for your email.
All of DJI’s refurbished products are items that have been returned to DJI within 30 days of purchase. All drones are tested and repaired if necessary, before being refurbished and quality checked.
Each drone is supplied with a standard 1 year manufacturer’s warranty, and comes with the same terms and conditions of purchase as a brand new, pristine drone.
If there is anything else we can help with, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Great price. Standard doesn't have anywhere near the range of the advanced or pro but more than enough for most.
Batteries are expensive though. Have seen blade chroma's on offer for under £300 and they're a decent alternative.
Personally never trust refurbished if theres loads available. Why are there so many returns ? Drones loosing signal and flying off, crashing, getting returned to be refurbished, and on and on.........
padamowicz93 to hooray.henry
26 Mar 17#35
There seems to be a lot of issues with PH3. Like you mentioned: signal, cracks etc, last thing I want is to lose signal while flying over some water. Also I think if you suddenly gonna lose signal and crash it would be almost impossible to claim that under warranty.
Anyway, cancelled mine now and I would advise anyone looking at this deal to read DJI forums before buying it.
hooray.henry
26 Mar 17#36
I was going to buy new a few months ago but having read on the forum about the loss of signal/ thing goings nuts decided to give it a miss.

ian_uk1975
26 Mar 17#38
If it loses signal, it will return home... it won't just drop from the sky. Likewise, if it runs low on battery it will return home (and it gives you lots of warning that the battery is getting low). Stress cracks in the shell are covered under warranty and, as far as I know, it's something that affects the entire Phantom range.

Cameras:
The DJI Phantom 3 Standard features a 12-megapixel sensor for up to 2.7K resolution video at up to 30 frames per second, carried at 40Mbps.
Jump up to the Phantom 3 Advanced and you get a Sony Exmor 12.4-megapixel sensor and video of up to 2.7K and 30fps also with 40Mbps bitrate.
Then when you hit the top end with the Phantom 3 Professional you also get that Sony sensor but with the ability to record up to 4K resolution also at 30fps but with a bitrate of 60Mbps.
Range:
The Standard model can manage up to 1,000m in distance using the supplied controller. But this is the FCC rated number, when outdoors and unobstructed.
The Advanced and Professional models both have the same range as each other which is also based on outdoor, unobstructed use. These can go up to 2,000m away from the flier using the supplied remote controller.

I've returned mine yesterday back to a local store, right after I got it. Although at 299 it's still a great value it didn't look factory refurbished to me. It was messy with dirt stuck everywhere, propellers were scratched and the unit had peeled up stickers on the sides that were just flapping about. I know all these things are not major but it was messy and looked like simply a Jessops return that was looked over by a warehouse worker rather then properly refurbished by DJI itself. Definition of refurbished unit can probably differ from vendor to vendor, but I think in my case it was a bit of a stretch.
poisondwarf
28 Mar 17#67
That doesn't sound good at all.
Makes me thankful that my order was cancelled due to lack of stock.
It will be interesting to see what others on here actually receive, ie properly refurbished or merely looked at.

dunny06
28 Mar 17#72
same with mine. the box is in poor condition with dents in it and dirty and the remote control looks like it's been dropped as there's several scratches and also dirty and the drones propellers have scratches and two stickers hanging off. The drone is in v.good condition and flys great but it's been definitely crashed slightly.its going back and such a shame at that price.
matt2222
28 Mar 17#73
Don't think i need the advanced, so will probably try the standard if it comes back into stock
phoni
28 Mar 17#74
Mine also had scratches on the bottom, near propellers, suggesting it has been crashed. I was going to keep it anyway but it would not connect to my LG G4.
Reading online forums suggested various things, starting from getting a phone with Android 7, to downgrading or upgrading drone's firmware.
This just wasn't worth it for me, I expect things for £300 to work out of the box.
Also, additional batteries (even fake ones) appear to be mega-expensive (£60+). I but I suppose they have to be, as the drone itself is quite heavy
Going to continue playing with my Syma, which worked straight away and had spare batteries at £2-3 each.
WhitePonies
28 Mar 17#75
Birmingham has one, I had mine delivered to store and wasn't overjoyed with it but I was probably looking for an excuse not to buy it. Looked like the controller had been dropped, the adapter for the phone looked slightly discoloured (yellowing) the blades had some major scuffs on it, like serious but did come with another set. Did come with the SD card on a bit of masking tape... The nice guy at Jessops said no way would they of just sent it out, it would of been professionally refurbed and I was like ohhh sweet so not like Amazon.....I think he probably changed his mind once he saw the contents. Still great value, so grab a bargain

28 Mar 17#76

Makes me thankful that my order was cancelled due to lack of stock.
It will be interesting to see what others on here actually receive, ie properly refurbished or merely looked at.
However it doesn't come with the gimbal and camera that is already on the phantom.
Spares are cheaper, the machine itself is also cheaper, although everything does come from China.

However hasn't had a chance to fly it yet , presumably do it tomorrow & over the weekend .
I have no idea how good (or bad) it is

Some of the so called recons from Jessops appear to have been very disappointing
Enjoy
On the plus side there is a MicroSD card, albeit with hairs on it. The photos on the card show the previous owner lived in Crockenhill.
