You've picked extreme examples from either end. Statistically, if you are poorer, you a more likely to die sooner. This is a fact

Absolute rubbish.... Elvis, John Lennon, Freddie Mercury, James Dean, Ayrton Senna etc etc all died young but very wealthy.
Mean while all the oldest people in the world that live to be over 120 are all simple living peasants from France, Japan etc.

Next Sherlock, you need to prove the link between poorer people's life expectancy and their eating of co-op food deals as opposed to the poor quality of their living conditions, levels of stress/anxiety being poor gives them, their limited access to first rate healthcare, general quality of their genetic make up etc etc
dean_brfc
8 Mar 172#14
There are many studies that link poor diets to lower life expectancy. That isn't really my point though, I was just pointing out how ridiculous your argument of selecting a few, random dead celebrities was.
I love your last sentence by the way. Sounds like you are saying poor people have inferior genes. I'm guessing that happened through your confusion on this subject, rather than it being a belief you hold. For your sake, I hope I'm right.

By the way yes, there is an overall link between intelligence and wealth and intelligence has a strong genetic component.

Wow. So you do believe wealthier people have 'better' genes?
Not only is that opinion wrong, it's potentially dangerous.

You honestly think intelligence doesn't have a genetic component?
And you don't think higher intelligence and better genes improve ones chances of success?
So you think someone with lower quality genes has an equal chance of getting an oversubscribed, highly selective job, which pays more? That they'll have the same performance in psychometric tests and interview as well?
There's also a link between genes and attractiveness, and attractiveness and success.
Better looking people are treated better and on average develop better social skills.
They're also chosen over less attractive people when otherwise equal - even if not intentionally or consciously.
Anyway, seems like a reasonable deal. I thought some of the more random combinations were actually better deals. I have no use for onion rings or potentially quite unpleasant tasting ice cream personally.

Those celebs ALL died from natural causes too!
And I think you might be getting Japan and China mixed up.

8 Mar 17#25
John Lennon died of natural causes?
Err, Japan's population has a much higher life expectancy than China's.
Also no Chinese feature in the oldest recorded people.
Wierd to think a person can span 3 different centuries.
