HUKD is delightfully bonkers, at one end you've got people justifying £1000 for a new phone, at the other you've got people who think 70p is a bit much for a cauliflower

Our farm shop is 3 for £1. Larger too than these tiny things.

I think you should be thinking more along the lines of it's 'carbon footprint'.

^ yeah, this. The pineapple has travelled further yes, but it hasn't done it in first class on a virgin atlantic flight.
It's such a big socioeconomic question that it can't just be explained away with "pineapple travel further so expensive yes?"

Must of gone easyjet hence the price

Because the cost of living here is more expensive for the farmers and the level of maintenance is much more intensive for crops in colder climates. Plus the cost of harvesting the crop is much more here..

But, jokes aside, I think it's reasonable to question why an in season British grown vegetable is more expensive than a fruit that might have been shipped several thousand miles. Intuitively, it doesn't seem quite right, does it?

Just saying they are still overpriced. When you can buy a Pineapple from Aldi at the minute, which has been shipped half way round the world, for 45p. Cauliflowers should be no more than 40p imo.

A pineapple is 45p so a cauliflower should be cheaper?
