Just spotted the leg of lamb down to £5 a kilo. Just in time to stock up for Easter and beyond.

You can pretend that your fluffy little lamb was cuddled to death gently, but in reality it was dragged terrified into a slaughterhouse and killed. Rather than worrying about the 5 seconds before it died, focus your outrage on how it lived.
Voted hot for price, even if it's not for me

These are poor quality cuts.
Cold.
You're better off sticking with my offer.. which are the butchers selection. And cheaper too.
Many thanks for your time..

This is "Butchers Selection" too, but that is just a marketing ploy, it means precious little in practice, they make no binding claims about it.
You don't seem to "get" meat and supermarkets, do you?

hmm bought one yesterday, slow roasted today for 4.5 hours and it's bland! Very bland meat unfortunately.
I don't shop in Asda, but wanted lamb. Think will stick to my usual shop for meat :disappointed:

Is this Halal or not? I do not want to buy Halal meat as I do not want to eat meat that has been blessed. Call me old fashioned but I hate the sacrifice to a God thing.

you're right that Morrisons are better with meat - but lamb doesn't matter quite so much as beef etc
just fresh meat

Absence of proof is not the same as proof of absence. You can no more assert that to be the case than someone can assert the opposite. And that's why the discussion always breaks down. But you have permission to believe or not believe. Peace to you.

The honest truth of the matter is that if I thought about animal slaughter too much, I wouldn't eat meat at all. But I rather like it and I also believe homo sapiens is designed to consume it. But I agree with you, it's a rather distasteful business.

I don't like meat farming breeding animals only so you can kill them. How would you like to get to 3 years and be looking forward to the rest of your life and then for me to say I'm sorry that's it you were only meant to come this far shut your eyes and think good thoughts while I blow your head off with this shotgun. If you're living off the land and hunting for survival that's totally different and I don't have a problem with that as that's what wild animals do anyway. Human beings are total cretins we've abused the planet, all other forms of life on it and even the atmosphere . Why the big guy upstairs hasn't wiped us out yet I don't know.
mrew42 to stupot76
23 Mar 171#30
And that's where you're going wrong. There is no big guy upstairs.

I have no idea where you have experienced it then, as the difference in time to die is zero. Visually and audibly however schechita is even more unpleasant due to the severing of the windpipe and the resultant noise, although that is from the human viewers position, I reckon the difference to the animal is also zero. Both forms are very industrialised in this country, again I have no idea how you could find one or other more or less distasteful!

All lamb stocked by Asda is covertly Halal which means the animals have been tortured to death. No animal should be tortured!! Please don`t support this regardless how cheap it is, do your research and buy from your local butcher and confirm their meat is slaughtered humanely.

What an extraordinarily naive comment exhibiting a total lack of knowledge. So stun bolt killed lambs in mass volume abattoirs are killed humanely are they? The only humane way of killing an animal is a peaceful one on one approach that uses a razor sharp knife, with no nicks, and a quick single cut to the carotid. There's no pain, no panic, no adrenaline released into the meat. That's humane. Transporting them in a lorry to an abattoir for mass extermination is not humane. And I eat meat.

Yes, observed Shechita. It's insanely quick. Halal has become a bit more industrialised. But that's a function of the market size / demand levels. There's many more Muslims than Jews.

There is nothing quick about it. Clearly you have never seen slaughter, Halal, Schecita or otherwise!
