Budweiser Budvar is a classic lager beer from the Czech city of Ceske Budéjovice. It has an enticing aroma of gently toasted malt with a dash of vanilla, while the finish has a near-perfect balance of malt and hops with a delicate note of apple fruit from the house yeast. Ideal with tapas.

Absolutely it's better, there's been a long feud if I remember rightly between the USA and Czech companies over the name. Wikipedia has more information I'm sure if anyone is interested.

'Pick Your Own'. My Waitrose card holders get to pick 10 selected items which are eligible for 20% discount.

Good price, but I still don't get the intention with the whole Waitrose PYO thing. I need to select the things I want to buy, then I need to buy them. Why not just let me buy things, and use that to tell you what things I wanted to buy? It's just weird.

You nominate 10 'favourites' to get 20% discount. You can only pick from a restricted list (which changes from time to time) and you can only change your favourites at certain times. And you have to use your myWaitrose card when you shop to get the discount.
It's a good scheme when your favourites are on promotion because you get good savings. Better still of there is a multibuy: say £3 each or 2 for £5, you get 20% off £3 twice (because you're buying 2) and the multibuy saving of £1, so 2x £3 less 2 x 60p, less £1 = £3.80 for 2 compared with regular price of £3 for 1.
But overall, it is a bit of a faff.

This is not Budvar from Budweiss, Czechia, this is Becks from Bremen, Germany... :-)

Blimey, I get how it works, I thought that was obvious, it's the faff I don't get.
If I want to buy something that's on special only if I've added it to my favourites, it means I need to open the app, add it to my favourites, then go and buy it. Bloody stupid.
They could easily implement it as an auto-pick with the same restrictions, i.e. you can only get a maximum of 10 of these per month. This is the problem with doing too much IT in-house - it encourages group-think and not enough challenge.

They make it a faff in order to minimise the number of people doing it. Those that go to the effort feel rewarded. Those that don't can't feel they're rich enough not to bother with promotions - at Waitrose at least.

The PYO 20% off is excellent and very simple to do - I get some great prices:)
Have now added this to my PYO list.
