Firstly, I don't expect this deal to get a great reception, I mean it seems a bit of a rip off to me, but a friend asked me to look for a good deal on this, and looking around at £855, this is about £200 less than everywhere else I have seen. So since this is a deals website, I thought I'd share it and hopefully save some crazy people some cash.
Anyhow, on with the details, this is sold and dispatched by Amazon.fr and is currently in stock for delivery.
The total cost is €975.99 + €14.85 P&P, paying in Euros, and using one of the many fee free currency cards available these days it works out at £855, give or take a couple of quid.
If anyone does buy one, please post a comment, it's good to see the deals doing their job.
Oh, and I hope if you are buying one of these, and maybe you are watching Comic Relief please donate some of the savings you have made to this great cause!!!

only problem with .fr is with returns. if you are unhappy with a dead pixel, or blb or Ips glow, will be an expensive return, as they will only offer a contribution to the return postage. and it is a big box, believe me.

It would only be the last year anyway. For the first two we will still be in the EU.
My best warranty claim was with a secondhand Samsung monitor. Bought it from a bankruptcy auction and about a month later it died. Feeling a little sorry for myself I tried my luck claiming under warranty. Gave them the serial numbers off the back and was told it's was on same day exchange. Less than 2 hours later a brand new monitor. Little brother still has it now 6 years on.

Source? Can't see it being changed completely.

Which has nothing to do with the retailer, as it's Asus who offer the warranty not Amazon. So you'd just use the normal Asus RMA process.

Note that after 10 days Asus RMA with "refurbished" monitors. The one I got as a replacement of my brand new one had worse BLB and scratches all over it.

I once tried to RMA a motherboard and Asus asked me to go via the retailer.

Yep, typical response from Asus however they offer the warranty so they have to honour it after all they can't make you use the retailer if they no longer exist

Sure Asus UK will honour warranty for an item sourced outside it's distribution channel (in this case Asus EU)? I've run into issues in the past with Sony who refused to repair a PS2 I bought from HK because it wasn't purchased in the UK.

HK and EU are completely different trading zones, and Sony classify products purchased in the USA or Jap/HK not covered but the EU warranty. Asus have an EU warranty which includes the UK, just like ASRock and EVGA etc.

Good to hear that EU warranty will be valid post-Brexit.

Yep, well you can't take away something that has been sold with an item/service for something that has not happened yet. It will only matter once we are out, and products then sold on or after that date, if we have not reached and agreement. Although manufacturers can still offer whatever warranty they please, so certain companies may want to offer a worldwide warranty, while others may only want to offer warranty cover in the country it was bought.

Not a bad idea, but there is no guarantee that it will come down to £855, since it's never been that low before. When were the new ones announced?

Asus offer a European warranty not an EU warranty, we're not leaving Europe.

Looks like a great monitor, but would you not go for 4k at this price? I got a 39" 4k Monitor for ~£500 after import tax about 2 years ago. I'm sure they have come down since, perhaps not?

I'd like a lightly curved 40" ultrawide 1440p with s-ips, so one big monitor will fill my desk. And I want Mexico to pay for it

Well, 4K HDR, and 21:9 aspect are completely different markets/models. Ultrawide + 4K would be a resolution of 5120x2160, which is 33% more pixels than a standard 4K monitor, so if you are the sort of person who wants to game on it at 4k60 + Ultrawide, you'll be needing 1080Ti's in SLI.

Pretty sure ASUS only have a "local warranty" so applies to the country the item was originally from. So you'd technically have to ship the unit back to France for an in warranty repair.

Dell’s UP3218K is now available to purchase on Dell’s website for $4999
although that would be £4400 (with VAT) at fair exchange rate, chances are it will be £5000.
