Coldish for me, barely under the launch price from the summer of the non-pre-OC'd cards and with a 10 month old game thrown in that most people who care will be playing already. And the rumour mill has the RX 580 landing on 4th April, likey as a higher-clocked rebrand of the 480, likely to be available under £200 too.

You can blame Brexit for that, the pound has tanked since the the launch of the 480 (It was around £220 at launch) and if the £ was still as strong these cards would likely be £20 less, maybe even more, but unless the £ recovers expect prices to go up.
While the rumours do suggest that the 580 will be clocked higher, according to leaks it will only be 15Mhz higher than the Asus card listed here. I don't expect the price point will be much difference, it's unlikely it will be below £200 for the 8GB model, but you never know.
It might be an idea to wait, as we'll likely see more price cuts as the 580 launch gets closer.

Yes, DOOM is fun too, if that's your bag.

the 580 bringing little improvemnt makes little sense to me, considering Vega should be coming out right after it, it just seems like a stupid idea.

Be warned - other sites delivering these cards have had batches of faulty stock. But very hot price.
Reference was around 220 at launch, not custom cards.

Probably been discussed plenty, but worth getting 8gb over 4gb for 1080? Noticed hitman already has to have 4gb min for top settings.
I wouldn't want to upgrade for 3 or 4 years if that makes a difference!

The 4GB version isn't far off this price so I would defo buy the 8GB for £30 more if that's any help .

Ooh thank you, I would never have thought of that. Doesn't help though, I'm after opinions on the direction games are heading in the near future.
Or a simple "I'm not sure" would've sufficed... I just wanted some opinions/discussion, sorry.
The review you linked does actually suggest games are starting to push beyond 4gb, so an extra £30 might indeed be a wise investment for anyone wanting to future proof. But there's negligible fps difference between the 2 at the mo.

WHO can be sure?
I'd say go 8GB, but the next person would say save your money it's not worth it. No one can really know. But my opinion is this. Buy for today. As tomorrow there's a new card released. Contradicts myself a bit. This is a good card to get. Isn't much more than 4GB.
AMD cards do get generally improve over time with drivers.
The reason I suggest reviews is simple. A lot of us gather our opinions by reading articles on the subject.
This place does generate week long discussions so reviews are the safest place.

The Vega is going to compete against the 1080 (Vega 10) and 1070 (with the rumoured Vega 11), as it is there is no planned Vega based card that will replace the 480 and below line-up.
