How did you update the BIOS? Would like to try this myself for the 0db fan mode. Thanks

oh I get it now. Sorry but we don't watch American Crap in our house.
I used mine for first time yesterday. Played sniper ghost warrior 2, Rise of the tomb raider and rocket league in max settings 1080p. First 2 games, the volume was fine but rocket league was loud AF!
Strange as I'd guess rocket league is less demanding than rise of tomb raider

I'm not your pal, buddy. I'm going by what people have commented on hotukdeals from buying this card. If you actually bothered to read the comments

I know pal, my point was that it is probably the same story for all makes of RX 480, but if you look on reviews, also note the date when they've been posted - most of the negative ones will be for the very early releases of the specific card.

I'm talking about the ASUS cards. They appear to be very loud and run hot.

I have RX 480 8GB XFX version and before I made my mind up I was worried same like you, as many users were complaining about the noise level and so on. But it really depends on your PC case, resolution you want to game, etc.
Maybe cards with earlier BIOS versions had some serious issues but now having the card I can't say anything bad about it, so far I would even say that it is a best GPU I ever had. I play in 1080p, my PC is without a window and literally next to me and when it comes to the noise I'll hear my PSU over the GPU.

can anyone advise how you go about updating the bios for this card? assuming there is a file to download somewhere and a tool to flash the gpu?

The Asus RX 480 8GB is on Scan for £174.98 with the DOOM game. I'm thinking of getting it but everyone is saying this card is loud and faulty.
just got this card. it's LOUD AF and I mean LOUD. set down my max fan speed to minimum and dropped it down to r9 280x levels
edit: mind you I got it for 135 delivered w/ code 2nd hand so this is a great deal

The ASUS Duals have noisy coolers when the fans get faster (not to mention that horrible cheap-looking white plastic!).
Try setting a custom fan curve; you should find the fan to be quiet below ~39%.

Since you have one, would you mind updating the bios to the latest Asus one? it has 0db fan mode and I'm curious if this makes any difference to the noise levels.

I got the 8gb card and I don't think it's loud, it's definitely quieter that my old gtx 750ti.

Thats not the issue mate idle its fine. Any slight gaming sends it insanely loud. Sounds like a jet. I believe its the way the cooler is
