High frequency sounds and flashing lights are you sure it's not just a rave for rodents?:stuck_out_tongue:

My neighbour had one,
doesn't work
and his subsequent kicking of my cat didn't work either because I let all his tyres down
try using a hosepipe, this annoys the cat, but doesn't annoy the cats owner

Or for an even more effective tactic, which is arguably only slightly the right side of evil, fill the water gun with male urine. There can't be anything much more off-putting to a cat than to be scent marked by a human.

It might be worth trying the Lidl Animal Repeller -available from tomorrow for £10 - that includes a 3 year warranty
This one has Five Modes - depending on what Mode the animal is in :smirk:

Spent ages trying to get a post to work on here (link wasn't working), but it's now disappeared!
Basically try the "Cat repellent granules"
from Wilko, they worked for me!

Lion dung pellets work but are expensive.

But I hear these dissolve in rain like slug pellets, so have to be replaced quite often? Meaning they will cost a lot over time.
I've been using battery ones for a couple of years, 4xAA, and put good quality rechargeable Eneloop types in. Seem to be getting 6 months between charges even over winter. My tip is to vary the frequency adjustment and locations slightly from time to time so cats don't get over familiar with the repellers. These gadgets do have some effect, just not 100%.

Hate these things with a passion. Neighbor has one and does my nut when it goes off. Buzzes beeps and sqwarks for about a minute. And sometime goes off constantly for about 5 minutes, clearly doesnt work!

I can hear mine too! Hurts my ears. Have to turn it facing the wall when I'm in the garden doing anything for any length of time or it'll actually give me a headache.
However, I believe the ones with the frequency settings dial (like the one from lidl), if you set the frequency to 3-5, humans can no longer hear it.

I got a battery powered one recently and it takes 2x9v batteries. It works pretty well. I've heard the cat jumping the fence in a hurry to escape, so it must have taken a blast of the noise a few times.
That said, if you have a big garden, one of there just won't be enough to cover it if the cat has multiple entry points. Mr. **** still managed to sneak in under the radar (down the end of the garden where the sensor is not pointing) and leave a deposit :man:
Some pros and cons to consider:
- Battery powered ones will get expensive over time, especially if they are the type that take 2x9v. So this solar jobbie from lidl would definitely work out cheaper in the long run.
- That said, you are limited to where you can put a solar one, as it'll have to be a in a sunny spot. And it'll be almost useless in Winter.

Tried one out on our cat. Expected a reaction......cat lazily opened one eye and went back to sleep. Some deterrent!

Like Horsey says, cats hate water. Snipe from your upstairs window with a high-powered water rifle.
