I love this watch, but it's really not at all practical. Way too dark!

Yes they are a dark face, but that's the point. I like that the watch snobs can't see what it is.

Not bad but save your money for a year or so and buy a proper watch.

So what do you do in the meantime, use the position of the sun to tell the time.

Really bizarre design - mixed reviews on Amazon complaining about how dark the face is. Eco Drives are excellent, used mine as my daily watch (more or less, give or take a few changes) for seven years, still going strong.
Not radio controlled. That would have made it a fantastic price. £140 seems about right for a regular Evo-Drive that doesn't really seem to have anything else going for it.
Nice looking watch probably not practical though.

Having "nighthawk" in the name adds on £50 in value.

If buying one of these watches this might be an essential secondary purchase to ensure you can tell the time in the dark..

Oooh, Venture Direct UK (actually Hong Kong I belive)...
It was 299 on Goldsmith's when this post was posted, they must have dropped since to match.
And the dark comments plus ion plating have a point, so won't be buying after all.

I've been very rough with my other eco drive and it's not got a scratch on it. I was fearful after my last main wearer was a Tissot with sapphire glass. Ecodrives don't tend to use them which sucked.
Anyway been wearing this about a year now while working as a field engineer. Building sites, crawling around desks etc bla bla, glass is spotless.
Hardened mineral glass is so vague, I've had some scratch like plastic and some take a beating like sapphire.

Same hear, I've had a few Citizens over the last 30 years. None have scratched, however I bought my nephew one and he scratched it in about 2 weeks.

It seems ridiculous to have dark grey hands! You need to be a Nighthawk to read it in the day, and at night (apparently) the hands hardly glow at all!
Very nice as a fashion item, no doubt, but most men/boys etc buy a watch to tell the time!
I'll give you heat though, as its a big drop from its original price. I wouldn't wear it though too dark, I have an Oris TT3 which is dark like this too. Which is ok in most places but a little dark to read at night, especially when the luminous has not been charged enough.

needs sapphire glass for this money, especially scratches on mineral glass make it harder and harder to read such a dark watch as time goes by

As for the watch. I can barely see the face on a large image never mind real life situations...
