AKIBA'S BEAT is a modern-day satirical spin on a classic Japanese RPG formula. I was going to buy at this price, but maybe it'll fall quickly like the Root Letter/Steins;Gate ltd editions. Heat anyway, I can't believe it dropped again from £28 :confused:

How is it that a new release Vita cartridge (with loads of padded extras) costs infinitely less than a typical Switch release?
Man, Nintendo products are nothing more than a money-grabbing con.

1: Lots of niche Vita releases are subsidized by releasing on PS3/PS4 at the same time (Sony provide very good porting tools)
2: Sony allow for very small production runs, in the thousands, Nintendo historically require 50,000 plus. Niche titles struggle to make those figures so have to cover the cost of unsold units.
3: PSN has lots of good sales and outside of AAA titles, you often get good discounts which helps bring the prices down.
4: The Switch has just launched, margins on consoles are very low (compared to the warehouse space they take up) and retailers need to make up for that in games sales. They have little incentive for price wars. Expect non-Nintendo titles to start seeing cheaper retail prices (even for new releases) by the end of the year when things calm down and all the shops want you to be the place where you buy a switch as a present.

But you are comparing Uncharted, a big franchise that everyone would be a fan of with Akiba's beat which you, myself and a couple of more people here may be a fan of. Silly prices are serious killers for JRPGs in Europe where people play CoD and Destiny only***. :stuck_out_tongue:

I was trying to demonstrate that all companies try to rip-off early adopters who have a limited library of games available!
To their credit, Sony do actually offer a discount on production costs for publishers of physical Vita games with a RRP below a set price (IIRC it is £30) or we'd be seeing these games either much more expensive or digital-only.

At least it was a AAA franchise that probably cost more than Zelda, and wasn't retailing for around £50-60 like a typical Nintendo Switch release. Also, the memory card might have been £30-odd, but at least the Vita's accessories weren't stupidly priced like what Nintendo are charging - like £90 for a glorified HDMI Out. Or maybe I should talk about the the Joy-CON or "Pro" Controller instead?
In light of that, Nintendo loving losers (like the person above) sure do come across as complete imbeciles that are somewhat detatched from reality - which probably explains why Nintendo are a third rate CONSOLE company making third rate products. And we all know as to what sort of mentality that attracts...

Or it could just be because Nintendo are greedy and have absolutely no respect for consumers. But hey, when they've got enough muppet fanboys who will buy their rip-off merchandise, than no wonder they'll continue to sell their over-priced mobile tablet games (or should that be upscaled Wii U ports) at ludicrous prices. Because AAA games they ain't.
As an example: why is the third party release Rime on Switch more expensive in comparison to the game being on competing systems? Because Nintendo are a rip-off company who want as much money as possible for their outdated inventory.

This game wasn't received well in Japan (unlike strip which still sells well on steam). It looks pretty poor from what I've seen.
I think I read that a Vita version hadn't been released in Japan because of poor sales?
Will get when £10 on psn.
