Great deal - got it last time around. FR better service than 3 - I'm getting around 50Mbps speeds and whenever I need to speak to someone they are in UK and speak English. I was with 3 - they were a nightmare.
In terms of volume this is just right for us - we use it instead of broadband as the copper speeds where we live (rural) are abysmal. Got rid of the landline and line rental ages ago

I got a few queries about this. Apparently, when you use any device abroad, it 'piggy backs' onto the provider who your own provider has an agreement with, that is why you are able to use calls and texts within your allowance or at local rate dependent on your contract. This SIM is deigned for use within the UK but this can only be defined in the settings. Your device will tell the provider your location when it connects. Hope it works for you.

BTW, be careful that your monthly payments are taken by Direct Debit. I made additional cash payments to prevent the Direct Debit being taken and they charged me for this. Thought I was doing well to pay in advance, clearly not!! The deal is valid for one year.

I know this is an old post but just for anyones info, after talking to customer services to check it would work in Europe I was assured it would as it's the Max plan, however when I got there it didn't, as you mentioned it took me to a page to add data roaming, called customer services and they said Max only works on roaming if it's a 12 month contract!!!
I spoke to CS again and they said it will work once data roaming is scrapped on the 15th June.

Under 'Add on's mine says £9.00 Loyalty and £5.00 Loyalty. Called EE yesterday after my SIM arrived. The extra £0.50 shows on their system but is not visible to the customer. I'm all set up and working perfectly!! Great deal until I can find a better one which is doubtful!!

Just had a call with EE.
They called me over because apparently I had a session with a sim on the basket but didn't finish the order.
Asked about my existing order and provided the orderID. And apparently the order didn't exist.
Probably a problem with the credit check.

So I was able to do a new order with the original deal via the phone and the credit check was fine.

Should get it by monday.

So if you have doubts about your online order give them a call.

My account looks to have been updated overnight. It is showing £29 as the monthly cost but if you go into the 'add- ons' section, the discounts are reflected (2x £6 and 1x £2.50). I have another discounted SIMO account from last year and the cost breakdown is identical to that

Hope that this puts the tin foil hat brigade's concerns to rest!!

It's a 4G mobile device. Little black box I picked up from Currys a few years back when my Virgin internet went down and they claimed it would be 3 days before they could come sort it. Allows me to have 15 devices connected via wifi to it. Very handy for holidays, but most importantly I just keep it for backup purposes as I work from home mostly.

Just checked, this is a very good deal! http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/phones-broadband-and-sat-nav/broadband/mobile-broadband/4gee-mini-pay-monthly-mobile-wifi-10146703-pdt.html ... I'd get that, and bin the SIM it comes with, then cancel after a month on it. Info claims 10 devices, but if I logon to mine, says 15 devices can be used.

You need to contact them on the number on the confirmation email. I had same problem and they advised me that my order had been cancelled. The advisor did it over the phone but it took about 15 mins. Then got a confirmation email that it was confirmed then a further email stating it was on its way.

I spoke to EE earlier and now have Email confirmation that my SIM is on its way and it is costing me £14.50 per month. I did though have a problem that my original order was cancelled which EE advised me when I called them. I really don't see how anyone can say this is a con? You pay by DD and if you don't have your SIM or get the 32GB it is a 1 month rolling contract so cancel it and report it. The cost to EE would be massive.
sturfc63
8 Mar 17 #349
Don't know who this is who is posting this nonsense. The deal was originally posted by a 3rd party however the SIM's are sent out by EE AND controlled by EE. EE customer services know of the deal and can access orders at their end but cannot apply the code. If you have already placed an order they can access it and assist as it actually exists. The deal has now expired but EE are still processing current orders.

Ok, explain how it's a con, or are you just trolling here? I've 2 existing data SIM cards, since 2005 with EE. Tried to get one of them upgraded to this deal by calling EE, they couldn't so suggested I cancel my current 2 and place a new order for this one online. Which I did, via the link here. Got email notification of my order, the following day another email saying I've already numbers tied to the account and couldn't continue order saying I should call them... I called the number supplied, explained about the other 2 SIMs and that I was advised to cancel them and get the new one as they couldn't process it their side. They sorted it all within 8 minutes and released the order. Guess what, I've just logged into my EE account and can now see 3 SIMs ... one of which is on the way to me still. So please... how can this deal be a con?
Or wait a minute...have these con artists somehow managed to hack EE and messed about with my account!? :stuck_out_tongue::stuck_out_tongue:

It's not, it's an EE deal. It's an EE package, The deal is on EE's website, it runs on the EE network, EE provide the SIM, EE bill you, and there is nothing on the packaging or paperwork that mentions anyone else other than EE. EE has contracted a company to run the EE digital (online) sales department (for mobile broadband), but that's common and does not make this a third party deal.

EDIT: I see you have changed your post since I replied, glad you got it sorted.

Just called the number on the email as my sim hadn't turned up. My order had 'somehow' got cancelled, the lady said, in error.
She then manually re-created the order, complete with discount.

Gotta say the person I talked to sounded very professional and handled everything perfectly. Even got the usual EE text message (249) asking me for feedback on the call.

Confirmation that the new order is on the way has been received too.

Called them and they managed to sort it out. It's because of the other 2 SIMs I have with them. Looks like I could have upgraded one of them to this deal rather than cancel both and start a new line. No matter, I let them proceed with the new order and leaving the other 2 to be cancelled. I must say, calling the other 0800 number they provided in the email was way quicker than the one I tried calling initially (EE), so seems to be as you say a separate team or company. To add to Autopilots reply : I get good reception as the mast is very close. I just use a Huawei mi-fi and connect everything through wifi. The downside is if you have any network kit that needs wires and a router, but there are 4g routers put there. I've positioned the mifi in the best position for good reception and good wifi retransmission (by doing some speed tests with it in various locations).

I had the exact same message in an email. It was a error in processing the order. These orders are being manually processed by a contractor. By the time I had called the number the chap in 'digital sales' told me it had already been fixed. some people working there are getting confused by the fact some of us are putting multiple orders in (as I say, another company they have outsourced too - thus the normal EE sales/support can't help much and often don't even know this deal exists). Just call the number, they will sort it.

For crying out loud, what is misleading about "data SIM?" The only misleading thing is you have misled yourself! Please understand the word "misleading" before you use it. I suspect what you are really trying to infer is that you have no confidence in yourself in interpreting data and want to know from others if voice minutes are included. That is fine if your grasp of the English language is substandard but don't blame others for misleading you.

5 Mar 17 1 #262
Yes - but get one with a connector for an external antenna (the HUAWEI mifi's Three currently supply have a connector hidden behind a small flap). You don't need an antenna like the ones discussed before, a mini one (although the bigger ones are better). They are relatively cheap too. The trouble with caravans is that they are a metal box and play havoc with mobile signals, you might get away with it in a window, but having the antenna will help a lot.

I found this eventually while trying to find out the terms and conditions. It is only the 12 month plan with EU roaming included. The 30 day plan does not.
Also they don't like you to use it in a mobile phone - See the bit in bold...

30 Days and 12 month SIM Only Plans
You’ll have to promise to stay with us for 30 days or 12 months and pass our standard credit check. Your monthly payment is for an allowance of UK mobile broadband data accessed using your own dongle, 4GEE enabled Wi-Fi device (“4GEE Wi-Fi”) or tablet to connect to the internet. To use our 4G network you’ll need a compatible 4GEE Wi-Fi device which you purchased on the EE, T-Mobile or Orange networks or through an authorised retailer. If you join an EE Extra plan, you’ll also get access to double speed 4GEE and a 500MB allowance of data that can be used when you’re travelling in the EE Europe Roaming Zone (described below). Once you’ve used your inclusive allowance of roaming data, you’ll have to buy a data-add on to continue using the internet abroad.
You’ll need 3G or 4G coverage to use the internet. You can only use internet on our 4G network if you’re within a 4G enabled area, in range of a 4G base station and have a compatible 4G device. 4G is currently only available in select cities in the UK. Your device may not be compatible with any 4G network outside the UK. You can check your 3G and 4G coverage at ee.co.uk/coverage
Each mobile broadband option gives you a data allowance to use each month. We’ll let you know by text when your data is running low (80% of your allowance used up) and when it has run out.
If you join a plan with a monthly data allowance of 3GB or less, you can experience speeds of up to 30Mbps only. Plans with a data allowance of 4GB or more could experience 4GEE speeds over 30Mbps, where double speed 4GEE is available and depending on a range of factors affecting speed and coverage such as your location; whether any trees or buildings are affecting your signal; and what the building is made from if you’re using your phone indoors. Check your coverage at ee.co.uk/coverage.
You can use your mobile broadband to make internet phone calls (‘VoiP’). Remember, you can use mobile internet on your laptop/tablet for peer to peer file sharing but your speed will be slower than usual as we monitor our network to protect it for all customers. Please see the network management policies on our website for more information. We won’t

charge you anymore if you reach your monthly data allowance, but you won’t be able to use the internet. To continue to use mobile broadband once you reach your monthly data allowance, you will need to buy one of our data add-ons to use mobile broadband until your next bill date. The cost of your data-add on will be added to your bill.
If you don’t use mobile broadband in accordance with these terms and conditions or if you use your SIM card in another internet enabled device, for example a mobile phone, we reserve the right to withdraw your mobile broadband plan. We will also charge you for the additional services that you have used. For more information about these charges, please read the Non-Standard Charges Price Guide at ee.co.uk/priceguides.
Car WiFi: Excludes double speed 4G. 12volt electrical supply required. Designed for passenger use only.
EE Europe Roaming Zone countries are: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Channel Islands, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Reunion Islands, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.
UK Data Add-ons – all plans
If your monthly data allowance run outs, you can choose to buy one of these data add-ons. If you try to use mobile internet once your monthly data allowance has run out, we’ll direct you to our data add-ons page. A data add-on gives you additional data to use for UK mobile internet until your next bill date (at which point your monthly data allowance starts again). You’ll be charged the full cost of the data add-on no matter when you buy it and when your bill date occurs. If you don’t use all the data before your bill date, it won’t roll over to the next month and you’ll lose it. You won’t be entitled to any pro-rated refund of unused data.
The speed of your data add-on will depend on which price plan you originally joined. For example, if you purchased a plan with 15GB or more, you will experience our double 4G speeds. If you purchased a plan with less data than this, you’ll experience our 4GEE speeds.
Car WiFi: Excludes double speed 4G. 12volt electrical supply required. Designed for passenger use only.
Roaming Broadband Data Add-ons – all plans
To use mobile broadband using a dongle or 4GEE Wi-Fi device when you’re roaming abroad, you'll need to buy one of our roaming broadband data add-ons. When you try and go on the internet either through your browser or via an app in your destination country you’ll be offered a choice of data add-ons relevant to the country you are in.
All add-ons last for 30 days from when you buy it or until you have used your data allowance up, whichever comes first in time. For a pay monthly customer the cost of the add-on will be added to your monthly bill. Remember we count the 30 day period based on UK time. Once your add-on runs out, you'll have to buy another one in order to connect to the internet whilst roaming. You can use the data in any of the countries in the relevant zone for the period of time that the add-on is valid. Remember, if you go outside any of the countries in
EE Mobile Broadband Plans from 28 October 2014

the zone for which you’ve purchased the data, you won’t be able to use the data and you will be prompted to buy a different data add-on relevant to your new country and zone.
Remember, you can use mobile internet on your laptop/tablet for peer to peer file sharing when you’re roaming but your speed will be slower than usual as we monitor our network to protect it for all customers. Please see the network management policies on our website for more information. The country you’re in may not have a compatible 4G network so you will have to use 3G (or whichever local network speed applies).
You can opt out of the data roaming add-ons by calling +44 7953 966 250. Without one of our data add-ons, data will be charged in accordance with our non-standard charges price guide. Please see ee.co.uk/priceguides.

I've had the 32gb data sim from a few months back with EE on the £14.50, I've just been on live chat, to up it to 64gb at first he couldnt find it so i sent the link for the 64gb with yellow router. Anyway long story short, double data given, now 64GB but instead of £14.50, the total bill is now £13.50 per month rolling contract I've made a copy of the transcript, and my new bill date doesnt update till 22nd. Cant see it updated yet on the EE app or in my account, but assured it will be updated.

This is sound advice. The only thing I would change in the recommendation for a directional antenna, as they require almost perfect line-of-sight for optimal performance. In my experience even a couple of trees (especially when cover in leaf in the summer) cause issue. Omni directional ones, in my experience, might a give slightly lower speeds but are much more reliable (I think you can get some new hybrids now, but I don't know anything about them). If your head was where the antenna is positioned and you can't see the mast (or the building it's on) go for omni.

If you watch a movie a day, plus other usage, you would probably burn 32gb in about a week IMO. Some movies I watched recently were around 4gb. Some apps/services allow you to restrict the bitrate/quality, but other don't and automatically default to a high bitrate (and thus file size) if your connection speed can handle it (which it usually can). If I remember correctly, the amazon prime app on my iPhone has the option, but the version on most smart TV's doesn't. It can be quite annoying, you have to be constantly vigilant about what service you are using. A while back my Sky Q box downloaded loads of HD programmes because it had a setting I was unaware of that automatically downloads the series if you watch an episode, this wiping out my remaining data allowance and leaving us without internet at home for a week.

Get LTE modem/router, use included external antennas for time being.

Huawei B593 for example is a first generation LTE Cat3-4 modem (not for LTE+ speeds basically), they go cheap(ish) nowadays on flea-bay. Depending from Vodafone's used LTE frequencies, buy a pair of directional MIMO antennas for that frequency, point them at your cell tower and will have a great reception and a much better speed.

It depends what you will be streaming. Videos love heavy data. A movie every day or two and some browsing?

Remember - if you have any problems with ordering this deal, DO NOT phone the numbers on the EE website.

As I found out this morning (I already suspected, but now know for certain); The online mobile broadband sales department running this deal are not the same department as the normal EE sales team. In fact, it's a completely different company which EE are sub contracting in. I spoke to them this morning and they were brilliant. The other EE sales team know very little about the online deals, some don't even acknowledge these deals exist (they are also on sales commission/targets, so they will try and steer you towards a deal they can sell you - which may be better, but usually isn't).

If you are lucky, they will transfer you to the right people, as some people have found out. But cut out the middle man and call the digital sales team responsible for this deal on on 08000790531.

Great deal. I picked this SIM up when the offer was on around Christmas time. My plan was to use this SIM and Three's 321 Payg SIM in my dual-SIM smartphone as I am a very light user of mins/texts but certainly need them at times.

However I cancelled soon after when Three were offering 30Gb data, 200 mins and unlimited texts for £15/month. This pretty much works out the same as the dual-SIM method (if you use mins/texts lightly), except everything is in one place/SIM.

When you say 4g router - is this the osprey mini 2? Or are there other better ones?

I'm wanting this for a static caravan with poor reception from my phone provider (Vodafone). EE is the best network on site so this would be ideal to use for Fire stick for the tv. Anyone know roughly how much tv you can stream on this amount of data?

I bought a similar half price deal last year, it was £15 for about 25GB. On the purchase page I received a message saying I had to call them to complete the order. Then from day one they charged me the full price of £30 and I had to ring them up explain the deal I had purchased and that it should be £15. After 4 months of being billed the incorrect amount and calling EE I gave up and cancelled.

Unfortunately the 12 month deal had expired, however they offered me the 64gb for £16.60 for 24 months. I took it as good deal anyway for my laptop broadband. However people here are reporting they get the 4g dongle? I wonder can I call them and ask for the device?

I got the 64gb deal a while back ( upgraded from 25gb with EE ) and also got the mifi free. Great deal for 16 pounds! The mifi box is no quicker than the crappy old LG 3g phone that I used to tether prior.

This deal is much better than 3 ( 40gb deal for £20 - and EE is much quicker from my own personal experience ) who are always changing the terms on their deals. You also get 100 texts... I would advise anyone thinking about it to get it because it will be withdrawn at some point soon.

I am no massive fan of EE all in service but I have used their data for tethering at my office for over a year and it has been flawless. Far better and much quicker than my home broadband in fact..

I'm planning on using in rural Wales as my home broadband as the wifi speed is appalling.

My question is do the MIFI osprey type of devices work better than a spare Moto E phone I'm planning on using.

Currently my EE signal on my phone goes back on forth between 3G/4G and I was wondering a MIFI device would give a better and more consistant 4g signal?
Bossworld

Great explanation, was wondering how you'd get a decent 4G signal if you're far from a transmitter but all makes sense. Seems a far cry from the days of satellite broadband for the downlink.

Ordered on 1st March, received the initial confirmation showing the discount but nothing further. Thought to give EE a call today to chase it up and after 15 minutes on hold was told there was a "technical glitch" meaning the order hadn't been placed. The CS rep then placed the order and I got a confirmation email 10 minutes later. However, this later email didn't show the discount so I called again and after another 10 mins on hold was told it would be applied. I'm still sceptical so perhaps somebody who had the order go through could advise whether the second order confirmation (Your order's on its way one) does show the 50% discount or not. I can just envisage having to go through calling EE every month to get the discount applied!

Seem's I'm cursed with ordering such things online just now - similar experience to what happened with Virgin last month! Nice deal nonetheless - hot for sure!

On a retention deal here and seeing full price but have spoken to others who've seen the same thing and confirmed the discount is hidden.

Yet last time it showed as a special tariff.

I think it probably depends on the person at the other end and how they implement it - one way may be less effort than the other and I'm guessing the discount rather than the custom tariff...
autopilot
3 Mar 17 1 #198
No, you put an antenna on the side of your house. If you have line of sight to the transmitter you use an directional one, if not an omni-directional one (most people do that I know, but the locations of the masts are all published online to be sure). Should cost about £80-£150 for a good one. It's really very easy to do, lots of websites available. Also make sure you get the best router you can, the one I linked above is generally regarded as the gold standard for most installations, because they cope extremely well with low/poor signals in very remote areas.

You might be ok with the router on the right side of the house, preferably in an upstairs window. But a proper external antenna will make a huge difference. A guy I know was getting about 8mbps with it in a window, but now gets 25mbps and much lower pings with an external antenna. Some people get 50mbps plus.

You can then surf/game/stream away with all your wifi devices connected just like any other router. You won't be able to tell the difference from normal broadband - you just need a good data allowance. I need at least 150gb a month and my kids love YouTube and we watch stuff on Amazon prime. (But we also need sky). Gaming is almost flawless, regularly see pings of around 25.

It's not cheap (but not that expensive either really). It's the price I pay for living in a beautiful remote country location.

You're forgetting the thousands of people like me who live in rural locations who get poor/no ADSL service, let alone fibre. We rely on these deals for our broadband.

In some parts of the world, such as SA, LTE (4G) is becoming the primary way of getting internet. The upside of that for me is that there are now some excellent kit on the market, we just need good data deals.

How many do you have?

Does not make any sense at all for a company to turn away customers like that, it's only a 30 day contract with no device being supplied that they have to subsidise. They could easily just cancel the few non-paying customers, it would so them no harm. I suspect EE might l have decided that it's too popular and are looking for ways to limit it, I used to work in the mobile industry and I can't think of any other reason to turn people away. Occasionally a deal can be deemed as too popular, as it gets to a point where it can be detrimental to sales after the deal ends.

'On every EE contract the monthly price plan charge will be increased by RPI in March of each year. Other prices, such as call charges and Roaming costs, may also go up during your plan. Your first annual RPI increase will take place in March 2017.'

Price increases next month. Just a heads up, not a criticism.

The EE shop seems to be undergoing an upgrade or something and is currently down.

With that in mind re: Osprey MIFI, does anyone know where I can get one without data ie: just buy one? Preferably a shop rather than a mush on Ebay?

I take it there is no such thing as a "cheap as chips" MIFI for a tenner anywhere? Same goes for a 4G second phone I could use?

For those of us currently paying £15/month for AYCE data (SIM only, I've never had a handset from Three) it really isn't a great deal!

My phone is on Three and no complaints about unlimited data and feel at home and all the rest of it. Trouble is where I now live there is zero zilch nada Three signal even though the coverage map says there is. If I went for this EE deal what's the best way to check beforehand that I have signal? All I can think of is keep asking my friends until I find one with EE then ask them for dinner.

The minimum term of your existing contract has finished so it’s time for you to select a new contract with us.

We’ve got some awesome new deals which aren’t available on the high street. Our way of saying thanks.

If you don’t do anything, we’ll automatically move you to the plan set out in Option 3.

We’d hate to see you leave, but if you’re not happy with any of these options, you can of course give us 30 days notice.

Option 1.
Your current plan. Your new plan.

All-you-can-eat Data
30GB Personal hotspot
All-you-can-eat Texts
All-you-can-eat Minutes
12 Month contract

Discounted to: £19 per month
Choose this plan.
Option 2.
Your current plan. Your new plan.

30GB Data
All-you-can-eat Texts
All-you-can-eat Minutes
12 Month contract

Discounted to: £18 per month
Choose this plan.
###Option 3.
If we haven't heard from you in 30 days (refer to your letter for an exact date), you'll automatically be moved onto this 1-month rolling SIM plan.

All-you-can-eat Data
30GB Personal hotspot
All-you-can-eat Texts
All-you-can-eat Minutes
1 month contract

£22 per month

This is great for 3 AYCE customers - automatically dropping from £X a month with handset to £22 rolling sim that's a £10 saving on the 12 month AYCE £32 sim.

This is fairness in a abundance that customers out of contract are moved to a unsubsidised plan rate$.

Quite shocked any network done this as it's a revenue loss. Well done 3!

Wonder if I could move my Broadband Casual to £22 AYCE ? 32GB on EE or 30GB and unlimited handset data, mins & texts.

Call them, you probably failed internal security - happened to me adding a third sim only, I sent a complaint online from their webpage and they called me apologies and all to confirm if I still wanted it.

Of course I declined and told them I ordered a Voda sim online and already collected in store by the time they called me so they were too late. More apologies.

If you order online as a new customer you go through a card check and it completes, then they contact you asking if you want a new account or added to current - that's what the young lad at EE told me that called.

Too true, my old man is on the edge of a major city and his broadband speed on ADSL2+ is not even near a fifth of the 17MB product BT say it is most the time.

Who needs lots of data - people who live in rural areas where wired broadband speeds suck. Getting 50mbps data through this is a godsend compared with the 500kbps I used to get through copper. Plus no more need to pay BT for line rental!! Personally it's a win-win for us.

Anyone else failed the credit check? I have 4 lines with EE, fantastic credit history and haven't missed a payment with them in 4 years with bills regularly over £120 a month.

Seems a little odd, wish I hadn't put in the existing customer part...

Thanks for requesting to add an additional line onto your account.

Sorry, but we are currently unable to do this. However, you can re-apply once you have paid another 3 bills in full and on time. Then we will be able to review this again.

If you do not agree with our decision about your credit status, you can write to us at:

Alternatively, you can get a copy of your credit file directly from Equifax, at http://www.myequifax.co.uk.

Cheers,

I'm not really a huge video watcher, just some Youtube here and there, no large number of Blu-Rays or rips etc. I've been using Networx over the last week to monitor my data usage (to be sure before dumping off my cable etc) and at my current/usual rate it appears that 500MB-1GB per day is fine for me, and saucy cams seem to take up most of that LOL

I have a feeling that over the next 12 months this offer will become common, but I need it right now because Virgin are gouging me with the broadband price. He who hesitates etc, and as a guy above said, at this price it's not just about the data, you also get the foot in the door at EE for leveraging future promos.
Cloudane
2 Mar 17 1 #135
EE doesn't do overage charges, thankfully, they just return a web page saying you're out of data. You can then get one off addons. I think they're usually a little pricey, but not as bad as the silly £1/MB overage you'd get on Voda et al which could empty your bank account.

You can get an Osprey second hand off eBay or Amazon.
seaniboy
2 Mar 17 #134
If you intend to do this get a 4G router you can stop streaming on, 32GB goes a long way with no streaming.
Tinker12
2 Mar 17 #133
What happens when the data runs out? Is it capped or do you get extra charges like on a phone?
Also with an osprey device can these be bought without a data plan as I've looked but can only see an option of signing up to a contract? Thanks
Cloudane
2 Mar 17 #132
You can get 4G routers, which would do that. Or a relatively cheap solution is an EE Osprey which is a little brick that acts as a wifi hotspot.

Word of warning, 32GB isn't as much as you think when you use it at home. On a full desktop screen, if you're streaming HD videos etc, it soon goes, and multiply by any other household users. Might be fine, but you're going to want to check any bandwidth usage history you have on your wired supplier if possible to make sure it's enough.

Many thanks for the help.

Now (and bear with me because I'm totally new to the tech side of things here) is there such a thing as a router type device (that I can just put the SIM card into rather than a USB WIFI dongle) that has MIFI/WIFI and Ethernet? I've Googled it but honestly I'm not sure what I'm looking at.

If not, would a MIFI box be the thing to go for, or would it be better to get a cheap 4g phone to use as an AP? I'm thinking that way I'd have a second phone it the first one goes tits up for any reason? Are there any sub £40 4G phone deals that would do?

If I can get that lot straight, I'll be able to sack off the cable to the door that I'm currently paying over £31 per month for.
Cloudane
2 Mar 17 #129
Worth noting if you intend to use this in a phone, you won't get provisioned for things they associate with phones such as WiFi Calling or 4G Calling. I asked. Source: https://community.ee.co.uk/t5/4G-and-mobile-data/Can-you-get-Wi-Fi-Calling-and-4G-Calling-on-data-SIMs/m-p/539392#M113134

Retentions offered £17.99 for 10GB (best I could squeeze out of them, and I squeezed pretty darn hard) which is all I actually need and on reflection, for the sake of 3.50/month (well, plus a 12 month commitment) I'd rather have the peace of mind of unlimited calls and texts, the wifi calling, the extended (800MHz) coverage you get with 4G calling, keeping my signal box active and not having to get it reconnected etc.

This remains a brilliant deal if you only need data though!

Yes, renew via direct debit at £14.50.

They say that there will be a price increase in line with inflation every March, as they are offering this price this March there shouldn't be a rise for a year. If there is it's only about 40p.

It'll renew automatically at the price you paid each month. Currently on one with Virgin Mobile. However I'm not sure if they'll honour the price forever or not, Virgin has been the price I paid initially though for three months... so the price probably remains the same. Hope I helped.

Hi,

This looks far too good for me to pass up.

I have never done the rolling contract before, and have a question about what happens at the end of each month?

Does the rolling monthly contract automatically renew, and you're billed automatically by direct debit etc? Or do you have to manually renew each month? ie: lets say EE scrap this offer next month and increase the price a bit, does my contract auto renew that month at the price I originally signed up for, or is there a minimum time frame within which I have to contact EE manually to renew/continue getting the price I originally signed up for?

Short version: does this offer auto renew via direct debit at not extra charge, or do I have to renew it each month by a certain date/time to ensure I continue to get the £14.50 price?

Dual Sim users - note that as mentioned previously, most* dual sim phones are data only on one of the SIM cards and the other SIM will revert to 2G only. So this means if you had a Three SIM for voice and EE SIM for data the Three SIM would not function as that SIM would drop to 2G and Three don't offer 2G voice**.

To keep those damned pedants happy:
*Moto G4 / G4+ dual SIM phones and a select few other brands are 3G+3G / 3G+4G dual SIM capable so happy days if you're with Three.
** Three may still offer 2G voice in some very remote areas, they have some old Orange 2G roaming agreement, some person that lives in a small cave in North Wales will comment that he has 2G Three service.

Gotta EE mast over the road from my house and get 58Mb dl on BT, yet 25Mb dl on Virgin in the exact same location.

Virgin is capped to 25Mb dl, but to be fair, most users won't need more than that for mobile surfing and a bit of YouTube on the go etc. The best thing about Virgin is the rolling data, was nice to see 37GB available on my second month.

The SIMs can be from any provider you like. Most dual SIM phones are dual standby, which means that both can make and receive calls and texts. The data connection can only be on one SIM though. It's either done by choosing in the settings, or some phones can have cleverer settings, such as timed switch over periods (eg work vs. home).

It clearly says 'Data SIMO'. I don't see an issue but then again, I'm not an idiot.

Says 32GB 4G data.... granted.

But should clearly state that it's DATA ONLY, no reason not to put this.
Suggest changing title to 32GB 4G Data Only SIMO - HALF PRICE now £14.50pm

I didn't realise until I clicked on the link, so fair to say it's a little misleading.

I have a dual SIM Honor 6.
I am about to leave EE as rip off deal compared to others which are currently about. I also have 2 Three data Sims not yet activated as I wasn't quite sure how they work in the second SIM slot which was where I plan to use them.
will I get a second phone number which is active when that SIM slot is prioritised?
also I didn't realise that if using two SIMs they could be with different providers?
any clarification appreciated.
thanks in advance

How much did Three charge for that?
I'm currently on unlimited data (4GB hotspot) for £15 but they've told me they're scrapping Tha deal and want me to pay £22/month for 30GB.
I don't use many minutes or texts but do use a lot of data...

1 Mar 17 #34
Genuine answer - people who've moved house or are in the process of moving - I had a 16GB rolling contract with EE for a couple of months when we knew we were selling, and it meant I didn't have to worry about the landline contract renewing or being locked into a crap deal. Or in a car as mentioned elsewhere.

Flippant answer - people who should spend more time interacting with other humans rather than staring at a phone screen :stuck_out_tongue:

Try again for the 10% off second line. I got rejected over the phone, tried live chat later that day and it was all set up no problems. With all these companies it depends on who you talk to on the day so try again. Cheers Si

Just what I needed! Moving house tomorrow and there's a delay setting up the new connection.

Phoned them as I have an existing account, and they escalated it to some sort of manager. Confirmed that this is an online only offer, but they will honour it over the phone.

They wouldn't add a 10% off, but this is still a cracking deal.
daskapital
1 Mar 17 #21
So I got this when it was offered at same price a few months ago.

EE said "Our fastest 4G" except it wasn't. There is 4G+ in my area and it wouldn't do it.
Then EE said it must be my phone (Samsung S7 which will do 4G+) and said 70mbits was fine, despite the fact that another friend also on EE with the same phone, in the same building got more than 120mbits.
killasystems to daskapital

So just rang ee and after getting thru to someone that can help they told me its not possible to switch from the 25gb £15.00 tarriff so discconection notice in will just take this new deal out.

People with dual SIM phones, can you use this along side a normal sim card?

1 Mar 17 1 #19
who needs 32gb? Wow - 20gb SIM only offers about and that is so much data PCM!?

Guess this sim is useful for cars with data packs built in so you can connect live in the car on the move.

Heat!
This is great value, it's just a shame that I'm stuck in a Plusnet broadband contract for the next 18 months, otherwise I'd take this, especially since data on EE is faster than Plusnet broadband!

Got rid of the landline and line rental ages ago
plewis00
1 Mar 17 2 #11
Not sure why the sad face, personally I would take the Three contract over EE - I prefer the network. Unless of course, EE signal is better for you? At least with Three you get Feel At Home and the other perks, and I find while their call centre is off-shore, their staff are impeccably polite and efficient.

Got this last time it was on offer. It may not be the case this time but with mine I get a 100 text allowance each month. Nothing major but saves having to switch out sim. Not long after activation I got a text offering 64 GB each month for 16.50 but was a 12 month contract. That also was posted on here. Cheers Si
