20% off all Apple products and 12 months buy now pay later at Very..love it...never seen anything like this

Just to clarify this is an account credit, meaning they will put 20% of the order value as credit on your account in May, rather than 20% off. Therefore you will have to spend the credit with Very.

Why can people not understand the concept of a Very account? Its not difficult to grasp, it is much like having a credit card.. the only reason they don't honour discounts is because people don't select BNPL option before clicking "Add to account" then have a hissy fit because they didn't do it correctly.

I have been using Very for years and never had any issues with them honouring cash back offers.. so I put it down to ignorant people being the issue, not the company itself.

It doesn't say how long the interest-free period is but still this is a really good deal for anyone wanting Apple stuff (and willing to do a bit of paperwork on time to make sure they don't get hit with 39.9% interest).

I've just purchased an Apple Watch. I applied for a credit account and my only option was take 3? Paying in 3 installments. Will this count as "buy now pay later" for the 20% discount?
AJ92 to Decharvinator

No. 3 months interest free is not buy no pay later.

I'm sorry for asking this. So am I right in saying, you choose Apple product greater than £239. And then you automatically get 20% off the price AND incur no interest as long as the amount is paid off within 12 months?
Anon32
21 Mar 17 2 #15
How is the 20% paid? Does it pay off your balance? I.e it credits your balance down so less to pay and is there a monthly payment to this? Wife needs a new phone blackberry dead now
thespud01
21 Mar 17 #16
I bought an Apple Watch 2 with a code from them before. Gave 20% off. Basically I just paid it off a few weeks after ordering. Was going to buy the watch anyway so the 20% off was obviously a bonus.

Is this a new customer thing or all customers
pookynuts
21 Mar 17 #17
You order the apple product on the selected pages that's over £239 . You use your account and select buy now pay 12 months no interest. By May ( it does say the date) the 20% discount comes off your account balance. So don't pay the full amount on your statement as it will be full price until May.
Hapzy
21 Mar 17 #18
The 20% is credited to your bill in May. If purchased with buy now pay 12 months its interest free for that period then goes up to nearly 40% interest or something crazy so pay before the year ends. It's for all customers whether new or not.
I did IPad Pro deal got £100 off so waited for the discount to show on my account then paid it off the following month. You can pay as much or little if any per month for 12 months interest free or in one go after discount credited. Hope this info helps

Its for new and existing customers!

Correct, you get 20% knocked off what you owe by 2nd May and if you pay within 12 months no interest is due. If you don't pay off the entire balance you get charged retrospective interest going back to your original order date. So if you don't pay it off within 12 months you end up paying much more, but if you can pay within 12 months this is a great deal!

a very silly question, this is my 1st time doing something like this. I ordered phone and laptop, i selected buy now pay later (12 months) and it was showing me full price, a customer rep said when i received the item, the 20% will be credited back to me. It sounds like a lot of you are going to get stitched up here. Reasons:

1. Can anyone confirm is this is actual money back or a voucher for future purchases at Very? Without clear T&Cs who really knows.
2. Very have a very bad reputation for paying out on their offers so will they actually pay out on this without a fight?

A good deal if it sticks but IMHO you're brave/silly to bother taking the risk.

Just to add some useful info (sorry if it's been mentioned elsewhere); usually I'm an advocate of utilising credit when it's effectively free, or in this case providing a discount. However, I used something similar to purchase my wife's iPhone and Very ended up performing two hard searches on my credit file, and then I also noticed that my credit score dropped heavily because of 'high mail order utilisation', which is basically catalogue credit usage. So, whilst that'll self rectify when the account is closed this month, Very accounts definitely don't seem to give the positive credit effect that you would get from say a credit card or loan. So just be careful if you're planning on applying for something more substantial in the near future (e.g. Mortgage, loan, credit card). Very credit limit was pretty rubbish too, thankfully just enough to buy the iPhone otherwise it would have been two credit searches for nothing!!
knack
22 Mar 17 #131
Yes, old but it still performs very well. I would like to get iPad Pro but it's expensive and I don't think worth the money for the amount I'd probably use it. I've considered the new iPad but I don't like that it's thicker and display not as good as Air 2. The storage is also a consideration as 32GB is not really enough for me. Might look for a second hand 64GB Air 2..

I opened a credit account to do this but my credit limit was only 750.00 and I wanted the plus at 919.00 so won't be using the credit account. Will this affect my credit rating in any way? Also, if I rang them, would they do the £750.00 as credit and let me pay the difference or would that mess the whole 20% up?

Spend £1000 on Apple kit, get £200 credited to your account with Very which you then have to spend on their overpriced tat !

This is not a good deal, and this is certainly NOT 20 % off Apple.

Be weary when buying any kind of these offers. Screenshot every offer you take up. Be prepared from the get go to prove they actually had this offer on.
Very seem to have a practice of offering deals not honoring them and putting the onus upon the buyer to prove the deal.

Currently I have a dispute with them for a similar offer, constantly fobbed off so the ombudsman seems like my next port of call. Constantly getting 'offers' from them but have told them no more purchases until this is sorted out. Doesn't seem to make much difference to them.

I did this when they had 10% off Apple and had a RIGHT hassle - they said I wasn't eligible as I hadn't chosen the Buy Now Pay Later option when I HAD definitely - take screen shots and be prepared to fight. I got the 10% off in the end but it took several emails, phone calls (to a foreign call centre) and threats of Trading Standards. I closed my Very account and won't use them again. Not worth £80 for all the time I wasted trying to get the money.

You don't want to pay it off before May (that is when they apply your 20%), I would imagine it will take longer as they are known for all sorts of tricks. So don't rush to pay it off quickly as it may cause you more damage than anything else.

From previous threads when Very have offered this type of deal the general consensus based on experience was that using a discount code meant the 20% credit would not be applied. I've bought twice without codes and received my credit automatically. Would never risk using a code as well.
It's quite clear in the t&c's that the offer cannot be used with other offers.

Couldn't agree more - I bought a laptop recently and it advertised 10% listed price if bought on buy now pay later (interest free) - which I did (over 12 months) - the 10% should have been deducted from my balance, it took threats of numerous kinds before they actually applied the discount. Can anyone confirm if they issue VAT receipts? Planning to get the 15" MBP and work will need the VAT receipt/invoice.

Also I presume best not to use any of the discount codes flying around? Clicked on offer details and theres no mention of using codes being prohibited. But there appears to be mention on the offer codes themselves that they can't be used with other offers.

Also for those that have had trouble before, I would presume this comes under CCA (Consumer Credit Act). You have pretty strong rights, so I imagine they'd capitulate pretty quickly once you mention CCA Section 75 (otherwise follow through with a complaint):

Took advantage of this when they did 10% off last year...

All I can say is what others have done...make sure it's definitely on bnpl. I followed the process, assumed it had gone through on bnpl, but just to be sure, I contacted them and they assured me all was fine and that I'd get the cashback. 3 months, several arguments and a whole load of lies later they finally relented and gave me the cashback!

I then wrote a complain letter to the company (in January) and have heard nothing back from them...

Great deal, absolutely awful company.

pete1993
22 Mar 17 #191
I'm too scared to try that...

It's only 10% back on electronics. And the terms and conditions of that offer states "cannot be used in conjunction
with any other offers".

I feel like, given Very's track record, they'd wait until May to let you know that you can't have the 20% cashback for this offer because you used the 10% cashback for a new customer - just long enough so you can't return the item for a refund. :disappointed:

I bought an iphone from Very in September, because of their offer of 10% in the form of credit after a month. Suffice to say, the credit did not appear. I phoned and emailed and they continued to put me off, by saying the credit would be applied.
In the end I opened up a small claim online, which cost me £25, and was really easy to do (less than 10mins). It was very strange because that seemed to kick them into action and paid me in cash in the end.

Moral of the story, get a screen shot and open up a small claim against them if they don't pay up.

Do bear in mind the differences between the two. New iPad doesn't have laminated screen or anti reflective coating, is thicker and heavier. Of course it has the 2.5 year old processor but it's still performing well on iOS 10. I agree at the current price points you're better with the new iPad but if the Air 2 drops in price it will be a more difficult decision (for me at least).

Not true...I selected BNPL at the time, then checked with a CS rep to make sure. Was assured it was all ok...as I was on 4 more cocasions when things didn't move. I just got myself an iPhone 7Plus 128GB for £819 plus £3.99 delivery.
It is VERY (no pun intended) important to select and create an account AND get a credit account and use the Buy Now Pay Later 12 months (BNPL-12) option.
Then what happens is once the account and credit is approved, your order is placed.
Once you get the item delivered, you will get a statement within a week or 2 and you must pay the delivery cost to avoid any interest (£3.99), then you don't need to pay any of the balance on your account (£819 in my case) until 12 months.
Then on May 2nd 2017 or thereabouts, they will credit the 20% to your account, which will reduce the balance. Then you should pay the balance off before the 12 months to avoid interest charges.
So important to follow the process as stated by others.

after ordering an iPad Air 2 128gb. i checked my email receipt and it definitely says BNPL on it. so fingers crossed should be ok. I am aware that a new iPad is due shortly. but £380 for a 128gb air 2 still beats the pricing of the new iPad by maybe 60 quid. and the air 2 is thinner. from what i can tell the new iPad has a different CPU and that's about it. most if not all reviews still say that the air 2 is a great tablet if not the best tablet available apart from an iPad pro.

Good buy and I'm considering that. The new iPad does have a new processor but in some respects is a downgrade eg. no laminated display, thicker, heavier compared to Air 2. It will be interesting to see the benchmarks of the new iPad to see if it is that much better than the Air 2. I don't think it will be and if they're similar price then I think I would prefer the features of the Air 2.

A few people saying this now, presumably to look important...

The computer that got men to the moon had 2kb of RAM;
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apollo_Guidance_Computer

Why would you need 16gb in a 13" laptop?

Might also be worth reminding you that just because a Windows machine may need more, 8gb is plenty for a Mac.

I have 4 modern Macs, 3 have 8gb and NEVER slow down, crash, have a problem. I must admit my 27" iMac has 16gb, but only because I happened upon a really cheap RAM upgrade kit (on here as it happens) and it just seemed criminal not to do it.
RichieCJ
22 Mar 17 #226
Yup...I think the issue arose because I'd had a very account years ago, which I'd closed, but Very reactivated that account rather than using the one I'd just created...somewhere in that process the BNPL side of it disappeared...but that didn't stop several Very agents telling me it was all corrcet and I'd definitely get the cashback etc...even after I'd stated I'd cancel the order (it was a pre-order so had to wait till after the cashback should have landed before I got the phone) if it wasn't elligible...but was told it was etc etc :disappointed:
Mentos
22 Mar 17 1 #227
To give him the benefit of the doubt he may be doing something that genuinely needs 16GB.

But you are right, a lot of people say they "need" 16GB. Yet when you dig down into what they actually do, 8GB is more then sufficient. This is particularly true given the speed of the SSD's in recent rMBP's.

I have a 13" rMBP with 16GB and the only time it really comes in useful is when running multiple VM's. However, the dual core processor still pegs it to an extent, so its not like I can run a dozen VM's. Just means I can comfortably run a few in the background without impacting the main OS memory allocation at all.

Funnily enough people have moved on to demanding 32GB now. Apparently PRO users need 32GB and Apple should really offer it. Haven't found anyone that can truly explain what they do that will actually fill 16GB let alone 32GB. And I suspect the loudest complainers probably would baulk at the cost of 32GB anyway.

Hi guys, any ideas for a case for the iPhone 7 plus jet black (to keep it scratch free)

Thanks a lot

23 Mar 17 #264
Sorry to respond to one of your comments again mate, but that is incorrect.

The Air 2 was a current model up until a few days ago, the Pro is quite a lot more expensive and not a direct replacement.

23 Mar 17 #265
Can't help sorry, the several million various iPhone 7 cases out there on Amazon/eBay etc. are only compatible with the other colours, not Jet Black
KP2013
23 Mar 17 1 #266
The jet black I phone is prone to scratches very easily.. and despite using normal cases, the dust which gets trapped inside could scratch it..a lot..but some cases/skins are made to minimise that with "cushion effect" inside etc..
In USA nakedskins do a a skin for the iPhone 7 jet black.. but nothing I have found in UK..
RichieCJ
23 Mar 17 #267
I had a normal case for a few weeks and KP2013 is right...dust gets in and causes scratches.

I bought the naked wrap from Slickwraps in the US and it does the job and doesn't hide the shiny finish

My apologies I didn't know that - I actually thought yours was an 'I've got an iPhone' post.

Would you not have been better choosing one of the other colours? I'm sure the Jet Black looks nice, but having to wrap it in cotton wool must spoil the experience for you.

You get 20% credit to your account - and no intrest as long as you pay within 12months - When I've done it before as long as you dont pay before the credit is applied it effectively means its 20% cheaper xx

Yes, I just want to look important or just maybe people use things differently to you?

A 13" laptop allows me to be very mobile, 20% of my time I'm moving around the country and having a lightweight laptop makes a huge difference . But 80% of the time it's docked on a 34" Ultrawide monitor and is my main work machine.

I need 16GB, for the same reason someone mentioned above giving me the benefit of doubt, I need to run multiple Windows VMs (XP, 8.1 and 10) on my laptop to allow me to work and those have development environments, web servers and SQL servers on them which can eat up memory even if I'm not doing anything intensive on them.

My 8GB fully tricked out Air from 2012 does a sterling job and could still pretty much cope with most things I do except for the memory issue.

I want small, light, 16GB and would these days prefer that to be a Mac. The latest 13" Pro now fits my form factor, just finding it hard to justify £2k when my Air is still doing a great job.

Don't need 32GB, but then when I got my 512k Atari ST I though I'd never need more RAM again, so unless I see a great deal on the current range I may wait until the next revision as rumours suggest 32GB will be available as an option and I may as well future proof.

And word processing on Windows is apparently a lot harder on computers than getting to the Moon!

For anyone interested in the limited edition red iphone - they are advertising it - not sure when it's due for release

Furthermore - just for those concerned about the cashback - I got a apple iphone 7 back when the 10% cashback offer was on - got my cashback paid fine onto my account within 6 weeks or so - i would recommend keeping a screenshot of the offer though just in case of any issues.
Mentos
23 Mar 17 1 #273
Think you messed up the quote mate, I was the second post that "gave you the benefit of the doubt".

Also WRT 32GB I'm not sure it would be worthwhile, I suspect the processor would peg you before you made use of the 32GB. I tend to run Linux VM's with the odd Windows VM, so perhaps your experience is different. I just can't see many instances where the VM's would suck up >16GB and not run out of clock cycles on the processor.

Moreover, I suspect the 32GB upgrade will likely be punitive. 8GB -> 16GB is a couple of hundred from memory, I can see the 16GB -> 32GB being another ~£400-£500. May be better to keep the money and upgrade sooner instead, they seem to hold their value "reasonably".

The Matt Black might not show scratches as much, but it can get micro chips from impact. Mine has one. However, unlike scratches you can easily mask it with a black marker.

I only use a sleeve though. As per ezzer72's post I don't see the point in going for a specific finish if its going to be covered in a permanent case. But each to their own

NP.

I'm in a similar boat (like to look important and want 16GB). But contemplating moving from the 13" to 15", more for the screen real estate then CPU/GPU. I really wish they'd made it completely bezeless :disappointed:

Unfortunately had an account in the last 12 months which I closed, so can't take advantage of this :disappointed:

For anyone purchasing this over student discount (my wife qualifies as a perennial student  ), you can still get the discounted apple care via the student discount.

uczmeg
23 Mar 17 #281
I thought about 15" too, but size (and weight) really do matter! You're right, lose the bezel and speakers and keep it small.

The 15" is a real hike in costs though with a 512Gb SSD (yes I really do need 512GB, those VMs are big!)

I may try and see one in the real world before the deal ends...

RichieCJ

Mentos
23 Mar 17 #284
I'm in the same boat, 16GB RAM & 512GB SSD.

The 15s all come with 16GB so that negates some of the price difference and the 20% offer virtually eliminates it:

15"/16GB/512GB = £2699 - 20% = £2159
13"/16GB/512GB from Apple = £2129

Almost the same price. There's a bit more of a difference if like me you have someone that can get the 10% Edu discount, unfortunately it no longer includes 3 year HW warranty :disappointed: (now brings Apple care down to £164.40 for 15" or £114.39 for 13"):

13"/16GB/512GB from Apple with 10% Edu discount = £1916

But in all 3 cases you're in the £2k ball park, as a work machine over 3 or 4 years £1916 vs £2159 isn't a deal breaker.

I compared the tbMBP 15" against the rMBP 13" in store (luckily they had them side by side on one bench at covent garden). The difference in size is a lot less then between the rMBP 13" & 15". There still is a noticeable difference though, If they'd lost the bezels completely it would have been negligible :disappointed:.

They've halved the weight difference between the old 13" and new 15":

13" 2015 = 1.58kg
15" 2016 = 1.83kg
15" 2015 = 2.04kg

IMO if you're going 2015 13" to 2016 15" the weight difference is getting to the point of being reasonably adaptable at 250g.

I think the switch is doable given how much they shrunk the 15" and lowered the weight.

But then you need to be able to ignore the new 13" when you're in store comparing, which really does look tiny  Decisions, decision

Good post.

I too can get the educational discount, we work with lots of universities and have user accounts that can get validated...

Yes, 20% of the 15" vs 10% off the 13" with the required spec isn't a huge difference at the end of the day. But I was stalling on the £2k. Not that work can't afford it, but that it's a big outlay when my current device is holding up ok. £1600 just felt like a lot less when I put it in the accounts!

I'm going from the 13" Air so the difference to the 15" is more noticeable, but nothing like it was before the TB models.

My other stumbling block is the TB. At least 80% of the time I'm docked, so will have no advantage of it. But also can't bring myself to buy the lower spec 13" without the TB. We need a TB keyboard.
Mentos
23 Mar 17 #287
Was so used to the Edu discount, the price rises plus the changes in the Edu discount really are a double whammy :disappointed:

Don't really care about the TB, but touch ID alone is enough to tempt me to update (sick of typing passwords and IMO its more secure when people are around). Its the one thing I'd been waiting for (although I don't dock). Haven't really looked at the non TB, I know the benchmarks showed it wasn't far off the TB model and on par with the 2015, but unsure about VM specific benchmarks.

Wanted to buy an Iphone 7 Plus 256GB, but Credit Limit has been set at £750. I telephoned customer service, offering to pay the extra; to put my account into Credit.

I was told that I could do this, but I wouldn’t be able to use the BNPL option for the order.
uczmeg
23 Mar 17 #289
Yes, BREXIT hurt the prices quite badly!

Non TB 13" (with RAM/SSD upgraded and with Edu discount) = £1,628.40

That gives you a 2.0GHz (3.1 Boost) i5 vs 2.9GHz (3.3 boost) i5 and Iris 540 vs 550 graphics on the TB 13"

So £300 saving for probably very little real world work differences. But don't really think it's under consideration.

I think going into a shop and looking at them will be a very expensive bad idea...
Mentos
23 Mar 17 #290
Haha, yes best to avoid shops until you're wallet is ready for the pain.

There were price hikes in the US as well, so it's not just down to Brexit IMO. The MB is now no longer the ugly sister and probably more then capable for most casual users (aside from storage option limitations). I suspect that's part of the reason they felt they could shift prices up so much, as they'd catch a proportion of those they lose in either the MB or the non TB net.

Which was exactly why I checked with Very on 4 separate occasions and each time was told it WAS on BNPL...the fact it wasn't showing on my transaction history is immaterial as it was still showing as a credit account...my point was they didn't tell me it had been rejected, rather told me the exact opposite for 3 months. As I understand it, the iPhone SE is essentially a small-screen version of the 6s. The major difference between the 6s and the 7 lies in the camera: a better camera with a wider aperture, allowing photography in lower-light conditions. There are other differences, of course, but this is, I believe, the major one.
Bobbytallant
23 Mar 17 #299
iPhone 7 is water resistant too - I guess this would be the other significant change versus the 6S. Otherwise its just under the hood changes for the most part as you say
Mentos
23 Mar 17 #300
Having been from 6 to 6S to 7 (due to work) I'd suggest getting the cheapest possible at this late stage. In 6 months we're likely to see a big change, so if you've lasted this long through the 6-style models why not wait a little longer.

Yes the camera has improved, theres force touch (limited use at the moment IMO), if you're a gamer the processor/GPU is better, etc. Water resistant is nice. But IMO for most people it was the switch to 32GB/128GB SKU's with the arrival of the 6S that yielded the biggest benefit.

Ordered an Ipad pro and a pencil, dispatched and awaiting delivery according to Very...except the RM tracking app knows nothing about the parcel and I'm twiddling my thumbs at home waiting for what looks like an imaginary delivery.

Very Customer Service leaves me cold - though in fairness I was aware of that before I ordered having read their feedback. I contacted them by Facebook Messenger and they bounce you to a web form that has a 48 hour turn-around for a response. Unimpressed, but the £ saving will compensate when it arrives. The keyboard from John Lewis and the cables from Amazon have all, unsurprisingly arrived;

Just had this reply about a iPad Air I ordered at Christmas, "Thank you for your email regarding item Ipad Air 2 32gb Storage 9.7in W Silver (KPGLN15).

Upon looking into your order, as per the Terms & Conditions of the £50.00 offer, the above mentioned item had to be ordered by the 23/12/2016, and had to be on Buy Now Pay Later by that date as well. I was able to see that the order had been placed on the 21/12/2016, however, it was placed on the 80 week payment term.

As per our records, it states that you called us up on the 03/01/2017, requesting for this item to be placed on Buy Now Pay Later, in which at that point, it had been. With that being said, because the item was not on Buy Now Pay Later by the offer end date which was the 23/12/2016, and only later placed on Buy Now Pay Later on the 03/01/2017, the order did not meet the Terms & Conditions, which is why you have not received the £50.00 credit to date.

I sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused, and for any incorrect information provided to you."

It's not a quite a whole new range - I was hoping for an update to the Pro. But it's definitely worth considering the new one if you are looking for a mid range option. It's not as good as the Air 2 in some respects (lack of laminated display, thicker, heavier) but that's explained by the price drop. I'm not sure when they'll be available but online orders from Apple begin tomorrow.

As good as yes. Be careful that you choose only the 12 month option as there are some people saying that the "take 3" payment plan (effectively 3 months interest free) wont give you the 20%.

The credit gets applied in May.

IMPORTANT : if you choose the 12 months option, make sure you make a payment to cover delivery as that's not included in the 12 months and Very will hammer your credit rating with late payment flags (like they did mine).
Hearts.of.Glory
24 Mar 17 #322

Flodd
24 Mar 17 3 #324
I can only tell you what happened to me...

You'll get a late payment reminder, you'll log in and see that it's buy now pay later and that no payment is due. You'll assume it's a glitch (or call them) and they'll tell you no payment is due so ignore it.
You'll get another one a month later which you'll do the same thing to.
You'll get another one 3 months in and start to think somethings up.
You'll check your credit file to find that Very are hammering you for non payment.
You'll complain so they'll show a bit of text written in font 8 that says "delivery charges not included in BNPL".
You'll vow never to use Very again.
You'll spot a deal like this and forget all about it....

Take it form some random bloke on the internet - Pay the delivery as soon as you decide to keep it!

It depends which one you buy:

http://www.apple.com/uk/macbook-pro/specs/

The 2.6GHz/256GB comes with 450, the 2.7GHz/512GB comes with 455.

If you buy through Apple you can opt for the Radeon 460, but only Apple offer BTO options. To be honest very limited circumstances in which you'll see much advantage between the 3 of them.

Of course, you will be ok to cancel and of course even if you didn't get the 20% off (and you still might get that), having up to 12 months to pay interest free is a pretty good deal.

UPDATE: The web site does say that you get the 20% cash back if you order also the RED phone on pre-order, so I think this is a pretty strong argument for the cash back.

42mm is out of stock & just too much time wasted if Very regain on this offer. Easier to just put it through the company, claim the tax/VAT back; although could have got this for sub 300gbp (20% plus reclaim tax).

Arrrrgh I just clicked one link (not confirm, something like add to account) and it accepted an order. FFS tried cancelling 2 minutes later and they tell me it's processing and can't be cancelled and I should reject it on delivery. BS... This is for an expected delivery date of 1 month! Seriously... I can't cancel an order that won't be delivered within 1 month because payment has been processed?

Guys, anyone bought 2 apple products with this offer?
If I buy in 2 separate orders, will it add 20% for both in May?
Looking at terms, does not shed any light..Does not say only one per customer etc..

Thanks in advance..
Zoe_B
26 Mar 17 #362
I've done 2 separate orders. One is going back though as the colour I wanted came back in stock.

Like you say, it doesn't say you can only use the offer once so I can't see there being any probs. I've taken screenshots of all the T&C's etc just in case though!

I had the same issue, they will not cancel even if u call them and they agree to do it.I called around 6 times and yet the item was dispatched so I declined it and it was fine.Make sure u call then and inform them that parcel should 'NOT' be delivered to neighbour etc as you want to decline it and you are not responsible if they deliver elsewhere.

Return policy information

"Non returnable under our Approval Guarantee, once installed or connected. Your statutory rights are not affected. See Returns section in our Help pages for more information."

I don't know Very's full return policy just above. It jogs memories of rows with Currys sales assistants - sir you opened the box!
frunk
26 Mar 17 1 #365
Ashman -exactly right - if you want to return the item you must either refuse delivery on the doorstep or if you take delivery you must NOT take off the cellophane wrapping (all nicely done by Apple). There is a large red warning on the cellophane that says you must keep the phone if you remove the wrapping.

jeztodd
26 Mar 17 1 #367
The 20% discount is automatically credited back to your account by 2nd May 2017. Do not pay anything towards the phone until after the discount is added. The cost of your phone will then reduce by 20%. Just remember to clear the outstanding balance before the interest free period ends.

26 Mar 17 #368
WARNING!!!!! Plz read very facebook page for shocking amounts of complaints. Notorious for not awarding this "free credit" back. I have no idea how they havent been dealt with by trading standards. As a customer of very for years with an account, I only use them when I have an actual discount code which is not very often these days. Please please do your homework before giving them your hard earned cash.

26 Mar 17 1 #369
Do however remember to pay the delivery charge of £3.99 (if it applies) when it appears on your next statement. The delivery charge is NOT part of the BNPL offer. The balance for the phone whatever can be paid after the credit appears on your account but before the end of the Payment Free Period, the term you selected when you took the offer.

Thinking of getting the 128gb iPhone which should work out at £560 then doing the EE £4.50 deal, making it around £615 for the first year, then budget £10 a month for the second year - giving a total cost of around £735 for a 128gb version over the two years which is pretty good IMO, IF it works out. Either that or wait for the S8 HAHA

Just came on here to order a new phone and the offer's gone :disappointed:
Didn't order it yesterday as I wanted to be at my desktop to take screenshots of the order in case of any problems and thinking it was on until the 27th usually meant midnight tonight?!
They may well do the same offer again next week/week after for Easter? maybe?

I have an email from them saying offer valid until 27/3/17 - I will be ordering an iPad and Watch later tonight and if I don't get the 20% back then I will be sending ANOTHER email to the the chief exec's office (available on ceoemail.com) - I don't bother emailing/calling Very as they're all a bunch of numpties. A couple of times I've been in email contact with normal customer service and we've emailed each other back and forth around 10 times, they don't reply to your queries in the email, they reply with whatever they what to say. I don't waste my time now and just send an email straight to the top.

Had a massive palava with them today.

So basically I ordered the Product Red 128GB iPhone 7 Plus on Day it was listed so 24th March. Pre Order to be Delivered on 24 April. Delivery on My Account has stated the 22nd April with no further Updates.

This afternoon I checked the Phone's Listing & It said both Variants were In Stock & To be Dispatched within 1 Working Day... Got on the phone to them straight away & They tried to get me to Cancel My Original Order where I'd loose My Discount I said hell no. & Demanded they explain to me how If the Items In Stock there & Then why have I been penalised for Pre Ordering a Phone.

At first Miles the Agent I got tried to say I had got the 20% Offer on that Order therefore I had to Wait for the Phone to be Delivered 22nd April. If he raised a New Order he said I'd get the phone tomorrow with No Code. Demanded to speak to a Manager he made up same old excuses saying none were available. Was livid. I gave up & Got Twitter Support to look into it. They basically make it up as they go along. Bottom line is phone went out of Stock again & to Pre Order to the 11th April meanwhile mines stayed exactly the same regardless. Told I either needed to wait or I could re order for 11th with No Discount.

Can anyone make sense of this?

Re the 28 days return period, I'd not worry about this time limit too much. I've returned clothes 5 months(!) after ordering and an ipad (still sealed) 3 months over and been refunded. In fact, if you go in to your account and create a return and select the item, if it's over 28 days it'll says "you're over the 28 days return period but on this occasion we'll accept your return" and it never says anything else.

Email from them to say call to verify account which she did and all good. Call back few mins later to say cannot apply 20% credit amount back as she has no purchase history with Very! I guess you could pursue it under CCA. But the likelihood is they will drag it out :/ so decide if its worth your time.

They can't deny there was an offer, too much possible evidence out there to disprove that. So switch to writing rather then phone calls, their CEO's email is out there. What they will likely argue is you didn't select BNPL. Thats where you'll have to persuade them/small claims that you only purchased due to the offer. You thought you were entering into a credit agreement, therefore this should be covered under CCA. And if in fact you had not been entered into that agreement they should have made it absolutely clear at the time.

To this end I would write to them asking for confirmation there was such an offer contrary to what their call centre advised (and request them to review the recording). Also ask them to confirm where it is made clear to the customer which credit agreement they have been entered into, as the headline offer of the discount is what clearly attracts customers yet it doesnt appear to be clear if they have been entered into that agreement or a different one. And finally that this should be covered under the CCA and so you'd like to speak to the credit provider and their compliance/legal department.

Hope that helps, but understand they can and likely will drag this out.

NB: I'm not a solicitor. My advice is based on practical experience of dealing with claims/issues under CCA rights.

I'm having the same problem, when I ordered I selected BNPL but when it appeared on my account it wasn't applied. They have transferred them to BNPL but won't pay the cashback. Obviously a problem with their systems not applying the BNPL so should honour the deal!

Who did you write the letter to? I've lost count the amount of times I've contacted, but I keep being told the same thing, that it's my fault because I didn't select BNPL when I know for sure I did, but apparently there's no evidence in my account
RichieCJ

I had literally the exacy same thing. Thankfully I'd contacted them several times and was promised (them having looked at my account) and each time they'd guaranteed I'd get the cashback. Finally got resolved on the phone, but I sent my complaint letter to:

Mentos
2 Jun 17 #473
From their terms and conditions:

I would make it clear there was an offer and there is abundant evidence on the web of this. You made the purchase specifically due to the offer and as this is a finance product it should have been "very" clear if the terms were different then those of the offer that enticed you into the purchase.

Their denial of the existence of the offer makes you suspect they are attempting to do a "bait and switch" or in the alternative they have not kept an accurate record of the terms under which they offered customers credit in the first place. In either case they would clearly be in breach of their obligations under the consumer credit act and you request escalation to their compliance department. If you do not receive a satisfactory response within 7 days you shall be taking this to the FCA.

Good luck. Also you can contact the FCA for advice first.

Just to add to this:

I bought the iPhone Red 128GB - £820 original price, minus 20% worked out to around £655.20
Everything checked out OK - Very honoured the deal and that's what I've paid to zero my BNPL Credit with them today.
I followed the amazing advice given earlier when someone mentioned that BNPL did not include delivery - THANK YOU for that whoever it was.
Yes - I had my hand on heart waiting while the 20% was credited to the account. And even when credited it seemed a little strange that it almost didn't apply immediately to the overall balance (at one point I had the credit and the balance STILL showed £820 which was still odd!). However, checking today - showed a balance of £655.20 on my account which I duly paid off.
I did contact Very that very same day I placed the order to confirm that BNPL was selected (and also to expedite shipping which, thankfully, they did!)
Overall - VERY positive - deal honoured.

I would also like to add - I bought the Dell XPS13 in Red Gold deal a while back as well when they had a ridiculous £300 off the price + some percentage off. Though my hesitance to click buy now meant that I almost lost out - I refreshed the deal a few days later and oddly enough, it was in stock! Again, bought straight away - £900 and Very did deliver.

I agree - there is a cut-throat response to not honour deals if they aren't followed to the letter by the sounds of it. And there is the juggling around by not clearly knowing that (for example) deliveries aren't in the BNPL option! I think that's kindof cheeky when it should be done in the "spirit" of the purchase. But when you do follow things to the letter - there's no faulting Very, and I felt strongly enough to post up a positive message.

And no - I don't work for them! I just bought two deals at ridiculous rates! :-P

Whilst I appreciate your posting for balance, as usually people only post when things go wrong, I think the following isn't conclusive:

There is no proof the people who had issues made any mistakes or errors, which seems like the insinuation.

If you've read peoples posts, some of those people have contacted Very after placing the order to ensure everything was processed correctly. They have received confirmation from Very that everything was processed correctly and they would receive the discount/cashback. If Very's own staff can't tell if the order was processed under BNPL, how the hell can the customer be expected to confirm?

Presuming you are not challenging peoples accounts (i've seen some from previous threads with written confirmation the promotion would be honoured), I don't think we can reasonably arrive at your conclusion. Wether its customer fault or Very's fault, they are providing credit with the carrot of a significant amount of cash back. The customer should be able to verify WITHOUT doubt which credit deal has been applied (i.e will they get the BNPL cashback). But with Very it appears let alone being able to confirm yourself from the order details, you can't even trust what you hear from the horses mouth.
