Multiple PS3 controllers are also hit and miss over bluetooth on PC's and the PS3 wireless headsets used separate bluetooth connections. Also consoles are very different in that the manufacturer has complete control over all the hardware and all the software while even though Microsoft have the OS and the controller/driver in Windows, they don't have control of the bluetooth hardware in between. Given the bluetooth feature was added to allow the controller to wok with a PC, it makes no sense at all to then artificially restrict it and I'm sure for many people a single controller with no headset is all that's needed.

Wireless adapters tend to hold their value pretty well so I can't see it going sub £5 anytime soon short of a pricing error. If your goal is to future proof your system for when the 360 controllers die or get broken I'd suggest instead getting a Bluetooth adapter if your motherboard doesn't already have it built-in. That way you can buy the latest version of the Xbox One controller, plus Bluetooth can be useful for other things as well.

It isn't beyond the latest standards of bluetooth but without doubt the dongle is really what you want on PC for an xbone controller.

They just work with everything. They are stable. Range is massive. It's just better, for the sake of £17. I know we're here to save money and get bargains but just get a dongle, it's plug and play then.

It's beyond what Bluetooth is designed for and if they wanted to force people to buy the witless adapter they'd never have implemented Bluetooth and windows driver support in the first place.

I have an Elite and this for PC gaming. The Elite lacks bluetooth but you're paying the premium you may as well go all the way and get the dongle for it. Totally worth it.

One tip is if you find you struggle to reconnect your pad to this dongle sometimes when you turn your machine back on after being off a while, it's the power settings for the dongle.

Go in your device manager, find it under network adapters. Click it and go to power management. Make sure you uncheck 'allow the computer to turn off this device to save power'. Fixed.

Should come with the elite controller as standard. Way overpriced, don't encourage it!

What annoys me with this is that it doesn't support audio in Windows 7.

still way too expensive seeing as the newer controllers support Bluetooth anyway and the fact that steam now fully supports ps4 controllers via Bluetooth.

I still use my Xbox 360 controllers via the wireless 360 dongle thing when i am PC/Steam gaming on steam big screen, so as of yet i have no reason to buy this.

BUT, if it drops to say £5 at some point i will pick one up, just to have it there.

got a gaming pc recently and was using my wired elite controller.. i hate wires anyway this beauty has been a god send. works out of the box just press the sync button steam or no steam it works great. yeah its a s**tty bit of plastic but it does the job well, worth every penny to me.

You can yes. Obviously has to be the Bluetooth XB1 controller not any of the earlier models or the Elite and I think you need Windows 10. You'll need something like DS4Windows for the DS4. The biggest problem I had was needing to update the FW on my XB1 controller but that was easily done through the Xbox Accessories app free off the MS store, just plug it in via a cable and start the App, if it needs updating it'll do right away.

Only downside is I don't think there is a way of running two of the Bluetooth XB1 controllers at the same time but hopefully that'll change in the future.

I grant you it isn't an amazing deal but the usual price is around £18-20. I thought as people might be buying the Argos Xbox Elite controller deal they might want to know the cheapest price to get an adapter.

This is pretty much the norm. Just get one off ebay for cheap. They work well :wink:
