Found white scotia best to use with laminate floor as blends better with the skirting then trying to get a scotia to match the exact colour of the laminate flooring.
This is the best price i can see for individual lengths.

Why use it at all? Just take the skirting board off before fitting the flooring then replace it afterwards, looks 10000 times better.

If you don't have a local Travis Perkins try Toolstation... it's a little dearer, £25.10 for 10x2.4m so works out at £1.05/metre rather than £0.88p/metre but still a good price if it saves you a long drive.

If your skirting is old just under cut it. Scotia just doesn't look as neat.

mine is for kitchen which is 18 years old since new, but kitchen will have complete refurb in 4 years time.
have laminate acclimatising at the moment, will prob start the job tomorrow, no much visible skirting anyhow, and have a multitool. Will try taking skirting off with a small jimmy bar i have and a Stanley knife, if it don't work out will use multitool to undercut.

Well, got a call from my local branch to say the delivery of scotia they had was all damaged and unfit to sell, so they've refunded the order back on my payment card.
Guess i'll be lifting the skirting board instead now lol

Why not do it properly and lay the skirting on top on the laminate? Much better finish.

Go in ham fisted and yes you'll more than likely pull away plaster, take your time, score with a sharp Stanley blade and take your time and you'll only have minimal filling to do

If you live in a new build you just run a staney knife along the top edge of the skirting then remove it, the skirting goes back on a bit higher anyway to cover up any small marks, Ive done it in my house, so much better than having this all the way round. If its not a new build well yeah it wont be that easy!

Dust free? Got to disagree there... hardwood or laminate floors are dust magnets! With carpets, you don't see the dust as it just disappears into the pile until vacuumed, but with laminate, it sits on top and looks a mess in no time!

That may well be the case, but if you don't fancy replastering and redecorating when the old skirting pulls away chunks of plaster with it, beading is the way to go. Also, a lot cheaper, especially if you're into plastering and decorating in addition to purchasing, fitting and painting new skirting.

Is the quality better than wickes? I always found the pine skirting scotia to be heavily knotted and bowed!

This will be foil-wrapped MDF, so no knots to worry about. Quality is subjective, but MDF does absorb moisture like a sponge, so any spillages will soak into it and warp it. It's easy to work with, cheap and convenient, however.

It's most likely the same product. Wickes is owned by the Travis Perkins group.

This is spooky , I have just fitted some white scotia in my bathroom only 5 mins ago! And it wasn't as cheap as this price.

Yes you are right but laminates are easy manageable and dust free

As twinkle said, it can be really bad for older dogs, but great for younger ones as its easier to clean. Mine had an operation on her leg which led to bad arthritis, she started slipping badly on the laminate, and found it difficult to stand up from sitting, so we had to get lots of short pile rugs to cover the floor, doesn't look nice but its better for her. Didn't want to get carpet as she moults like crazy and it used to be a pain to vacuum the fur out of thick carpet.

I've got 3 chihuahuas and I could easily stove their heads in with a shovel when I hear that click click of a thousand claws!
They sit on my feet to keep their bums warm.

Dogs can slip on laminate when they run and can be bag for older dogs with joint problems. Most get used to it though. There is also the tip tap tip tap if they are prone to wander at night. Ours is quite old and wanders around some nights, always wakes me up...bit like hearing your child whimper when ill. On a hygiene note you can at least clean with confidence.

I've not painted mine, it's white, matches my white skirting. Why would I get the gloss out and risk getting it on the laminate I've installed to paint it the same colour as it already is?

Paint it off when dry fix it with grab adhesive and pins.

If you want pure white, Google FC14 Scotia. I'd personally go for a decent skirting and put the laminate under this.
If you want Scotia and perhaps have struggles with cables, have a look at D-Line trunking.

Not all whites are same shade plus this will not be same finish maybe that would be why?
