512MB RAM for a telephone? Oooooooh back in my day we were lucky to have 512KB for the whole data centre the size of your front room. You don't know you're born!
It's enough for this purpose.

not bad for a item that does everything a phone is supposed to do call text mms and the extras like GPS and going on Internet plus I assume this will probably have fm radio unlike the fake things called iphones which aren't phones they are iphones.

Website states Vodafone as the network, not unlocked so you would lose £4 cash or gain £1 in credit. Could trade to GAME with price match +15% for £18.40 credit.

Bought this at back end of last year when it was this very same price too (via it being Posted here also, lol).
And no, its NOT unlocked, it's locked to VodaFone ...
But via eBay, you can get it unlocked for only 99p though?. :-)

A few weeks ago I needed a cheap phone as mine went for repair.
I ended up getting a Alcatel Pixi 4 from ee for £15 plus top up (not sure if they still have it at this price?), similar specs, quid to unlock and did the job, although I wouldn't want it as anything other than a spare phone as it does lag once you get a few apps onto it, saying that got showbox up and running and also streamed to my TV, not bad for a £15 phone.

13 Feb 171#19
Not absolutely sure but I think you need to have the sim for whichever provider it's locked to before you can 'unlock' so as it needs to be activated first it's going to cost that £10.00 whichever way you look at it. I have a cheapo phone locked to 02 which I need to do the same for but haven't got round to it yet.
If anybody knows different it'd be good to know?

Was your purchase a pre-paid FastTrack order, a reservation to be paid in-store, or a casual walk-in? Thanks.

13 Feb 17#26
It was a reservation to be paid in-store. They still wanted the £10 topup even though I had an active Vodafone sim.
I'll make do without and they won't get the sale. Serves 'em right...!!!

13 Feb 17#27
OK, thanks for clarification. The consensus suggests that a pre-paid FastTrack order would not require any top-up.

Not entirely true ... (more involved, etc)
Whether you have an original VodaFone SIM or not, you're still able to 'unlock' it!.
To be frank, it actually works BETTER if the SIM Card you put into this VodaFone Phone is NOT VodaFone!, as then it forces a SIM unlocking sequence window upon the same VodaFone Phone (I know for sure, as I did the very same to both a Smart First 6, and a Smart First 7 last year, and both came up aces!). :-)
As for the Top-Up argument, well, I was able to bypass it on both those Phone's at the time (via the designated 'FastTrack' mechanism that was actively in play at the time, etc, hehe), so .....
But, saying that, both above mentioned count's were last year though?, so can't swear blind to the same for today/this year playing true again for now?. :-(
Play it by ear?, and see what gives I guess?. :-)

Bought my 6 year old this when it was a tenner, his first foray into the mobile world. He calls his older sisters through FB, what's app and sends loads of cute messages/photos to us all.
He also uses Spotify and links it up to his Bluetooth speakers - it actually makes a great "learner" phone before you have to get them the latest £700 Iphone when they get to 10.

WOW!, when where these ever £10? (look's like I missed out on a doozie there?. :disappointed:
Hehehe, no big.
Ps.
If your 6 year old is banging out that kind of advanced thingamajigs at that tender age, I'm assuming their 'need' for this £700 to which you speak of (or £800+ even?, the way thing's are alarmingly going ... ) will be required from you by the time they are ONLY 8 years old I reckon?, Ps. I'm not offering myself as an attendee to the 'fireworks' party that'll inevitably ensue on the back-burners of that one .....
Until they're at least 18+ perhaps? (or whatever?), pray HARD, that 'Android' is allllll that they'll ever know, huh?, hehehe. :smirk:

Hi, I have some noob questions.
I just checked out a vid review of this phone, can someone confirm this is a 3G phone not 4G please?
Does that mean if I put a 4G sim into it, it will default to 3g, or not work at all? I'm assuming the former?
If someone can clarify that for me I'd be grateful, thanks.

Thanks, that's fine, I'm glad for the help!!
I'm thinking of getting this as a stop gap until the new Moto G models are released in a few weeks, but just needed to be sure on a few points.
OK then, can I use this phone to tether other devices ie: can this phone be used as a WIFI hotspot? I'be tried Googling but cannot find anything specific.

14 Feb 17#40
Depends on which Network your with?, as Network Three are notorious for NOT working with Phones that are other than their SIM requirements, etc?, eg. Network Three SIM's will NOT work in a 2G only Phone for example?, but an old T-Mobile 3G SIM WILL work in a 2G Phone (as such could be said for allll the other Network 3G SIM's in a 2G-enabled Phone, etc, etc, etc?), but NOT that of Network Three ...
As such, a 4G-enabled Network Three SIM is there unlikely able/capable of defaulting 'backwards' to 3G, just because your Phone is 3G (instead of it's required 4G, and stuff?).
So, it blatantly depends on how you kind of look at it ..... :-)

Feel free to read my above previous Comment/Post 42 also?.
But either way, feel free to buy this Phone regardless?, it's more than cheap enough?, hehehehe. :-)

15 Feb 17#42
The reason a Three sim doesn't work in a 2G phone is because Three do not operate a substantial 2G network. They launched as a 3G only network with 2G backup provided by another network which they later dropped when they decided 3G adoption was high enough to no longer support 2G. A Three 4G sim works fine in 3G where there is a 3G signal as will all other 4G sims in the UK. The limitation is that you would only have 3G coverage and speeds not 4G.

15 Feb 17#44
NICE!, I did wonder about the whole Network Three thing?.
Thanx for the clarification. :-)

I bought one today from a Vodafone store - it's decent enough for what it is but i'm still stuck waiting for the SIM Card to switch over with Vodafone from the Mini to the Micro SIM...oh joy! lol
Thanks for that but i had a feeling i would need a replacement Sim Card, as my original Sim was purchased a long time back and i know that some older Sim Cards don't play well with newer handsets.

It doesnt have sensor to know you have turned it landscape, no proximity, no motion sensor but has gps and Notification green/red light.
So, if you are reading something on Chrome thats longer than usual and you cant scroll right, you cant turn it horizontal, get the screen horizontal, see the extra text on rhs and turn back.
Instead,
I had to go Android Settings to reduce font size until I could see the missing rhs bits.
Is this only me?
If not, the mobile is a hassle to use.

The 4Gb Flash memory limit is the biggest limitation with this phone. I have a 4 Gb Huawei Y3 and previously had a 4 G Huawei Y550. What I found is that as soon as you log into the google play store, google starts downloading updates that fill up the entire 4 Gb and want more space. You can not transfer this Google bloatware to an SD card.
Fortunately the Vodafone Smart 7 first and both of the Huawei phones have a file manager app built in which means that you can install apps from elsewhere and so stop Google from taking over your phone.
What I have done to my Huawei Y3 phone is to install the Amazon app store. There are about 30 AAA games free on amazon underground that would cost a lot from Google and so I play games and download Amazon Prime videos to my SD card on my Huawei Y3. You can get the amazon app from here:
