I don't know, never tried the plantronics, but I've read a lot of good things about them! The Sony's do not have active noise cancellation, and I'm no audiophile, so not sure how the purists will rate their sound. But they are comfortable, sound very good to me, and have a really good battery life. And my old Sony headphones are still working after nearly 20 years so I know they should last!

Senheisser, while a reputable headphone maker, serve their own purpose.
Senheisser make headphones with good overall sound quality if you want a large frequency of sound.
These headphones do really well at focussing on the bass, which the Sony extreme bass line does well at.
Imo, perfect set of headphones for EDM, bass lovers.
Really easy to use, and comfy, and well worth the price.
Also really like the fact that these can be made both used wireless and wired, and you can enjoy the bass even more with a switch of the bass boost button

iP7 owners got the phone knowing it didn't have an input so they can't complain after. I have a Galaxy S6 Edge+ and it works well.

I got these for xmas and they are very good headphones. Just a note the extra bass function does not work wired (although you wouldn't need it) also they do not connect to my PS4 via Bluetooth I have to use wired my PS4 will not find them via Bluetooth (a lot of people have the same problem also on forums). No problems with on my ip7 they sound great.

Why you would want such coloured sound I have no idea. Get something reference or with a little warmth then use an EQ based on whatever you're listening to.
I love my house and dance music, but I also enjoy acoustic, classical and indie stuff. My Audeze Sine are very neutral sounding and I use a parametric Eq and mobile DAC to adjust the sound the sound accordingly. Otherwise you just have muddy sounding mids and highs with lost vocals to the drums.
Just my opinion, but there are better choices. If you like warmth and bass, try some V-moda, punchy but balanced.

Lol the average consumer doesn't know, doesn't want to know and does not care for this. Not only that but the headphones you mentioned are considerably more expensive. Plus, most people are going to be listening on average sounding phones, if they're happy with that then I'm pretty sure they couldn't give a flying **** about reference audio
To be honest they are so amazing that I would struggle to justify spending anything more.

I wasn't making a direct comparison in terms of the products, I was eluding to the idea of buying a pair of headphones that only suit one genre of music and are tainted too significantly to be enjoyable for other uses. Like I said, fine for bassheads, but not for people that have a wider range of musical taste - the Jabra mentioned would be much better in that sense.
Otherwise the V-Moda I suggested aren't horrendously expensive.
Reference is just a fancy word for neutral and balanced sounds. The rest you can apply with software to highlight the instruments you want to be the focal point. These are limited.
wireless versions has very over powered bass, sound alot better with the wire or just buy the wired version. heat for the price tho
