Found two of these in Fleet Sainsbury's today - reduced to clear. It's likely to be available in other stores, but probably easier to find in the grocery stores that have a few bits of tech. £50 for a 2TB portable drive is a bargain at the moment.
I also checked Winnersh, they only had the slims @ £85.

Playstation are releasing an update very soon so you can just plug a usb HDD into one of the USB ports, so there will be no need to take your console apart

Don't put all your eggs in one basket. Buying 2x2TB makes more sense, one fails you lose half your data. Lend one to a friend to use it you have the other.
If you need 4TB buy a NAS.
Cannot imagine why you need to carry 4TB.
I use a 500GB to backup personal data off the NAS once in a while.

Can someone please confirm if it's a 3.5 or 2.5'' SATA inside the enclosure? I'd be thinking to open the enclosure and use the drive as internal on my laptop.

They only had two unfortunately. One for me, one for a colleague.
It's a 2.5". Previous posts have said that it's a toshiba drive inside, but can't confirm...

People are saying it's a 2.5 inch so yes.
Although If you want to get a better drive, I'd recommend the Seagate FireCuda 2TB that you don't need to open up (so you keep the warranty) and it also gives you faster loadings
Or, with the update coming soon, you can just plug something like this to your PS4, however bear in mind that it will consume more power and heat due to powering up an extra drive. And it will also look like a tumor and take space

I bought one of these when they were £45 at Argos just before Xmas. Seems to slow down to sub USB 2.0 speeds when transferring large files. Just use it as backup drive now.

Probably means it's running at USB2 the whole time on your system. Windows will cache stuff initially so it's probably slow on all writes but being masked by the caching on small files.
USB 3 is a terrible connector, reall sensitive to knocks etc. Roll on universal USB-C.

I swear every console user is retarded when it comes to harddrives
Its a usb Harddrive, just plug it in, it can fit anything
It works on Xbox one, PC so far but very soon it will work on PS4 as a update is coming out soon to allow USB hard-drives

There's not really any need to "take your console apart" with an internal replacement either. :stuck_out_tongue: It's a very straightforward procedure, with the drive being readily accessible.

Completely agree. I've given up on all the sainsburys / tesco / etc / etc deals that are NEVER, EVER in any supermarkets except it seems a small handful scattered around country. Sick of asking staff about the deals and getting looks that read: "What on earth are you talking about?"

Good for PS4 upcoming firmware update?
Illusionary
8 Feb 171#38
It's a perfectly valid question for the PS4, which has only very recently started to work with external hard drives - there's no need for the insult. Typically, a PS4 hard drive upgrade will be internal, where there's a maximum physical drive size that will fit (2.5").

Don't put all your eggs in so few baskets. Personally I store everything on 4GB usb sticks, in case any of them die. Although, carrying around 1000 of them gets a little tiresome...
Your logic is flawed. People used to say the same about 2tb drives when they became available, and the same about 1tb drives before that, and so on...
