Zactly.. mind games... they then 'invented' QLED hoping that the short-sighted won't notice the Q and think it's a Samsung OLED telly, despite the new models being edge-lit LED with turbo boosted brightness.

Funny how many people here are in the same boat regarding this model.
Been almost like a poker game hoping for it to drop then bloody brexit came along and prices went the other way. Typical.
Why did Samsung chop the 60" model from the range from the KS8000 upwards? The KS7000 has a 49/55/60/65 option but the higher end models all jump from 55" to 65" ??

Can anyone recommend a good vesa stand to go with this? I've been looking at this set for a while and it's feet are a little wider than our TV stand (part of matching furniture, so I can't change and don't want to wall mount), so I was thinking of using a monitor/tv stand as a central support, but most seem ugly.

Chuck out Amazon. There are lots with decent pieces with great reviews. I got a really nice vesa pedestal stand for my Panasonic panel. Has a narrower base and looks far better than what it replaced. Only £40 to boot!

I managed to get a 49" KS8000 from a guy for £550, the picture quality is absolutely insane for HDR content, I could have got a 65KS9000 for £900 but the mrs wont let me put one on the wall *ball and chain*
My brother has the 43ks7500 which is basically the curved version of the 7000 and its stunning also. cracking tvs for the price.

Got the 55" KS7000 and it is awesome.
Build quality in my experience is great, very few times have i noticed any inkling of bleeding at the edges. The TV looks awesome too, and although the wide feet are very inconvenient if you dont have the right stand, they give an awesome floating appearance to the TV when looking at it front on.
You won't be disappointed!

I bought the 5500 when John Lewis said it was a 10bit Panel (quickly changed to 8bit) was a good TV but that was it..it was heavy and I found the Apps quite sluggish. Menu seemed decent but I returned it with 2 days, didn't think much to the up scaling. I bought this because I was too cheap to buy the ks7000 in the first place

Yeah, I've just seen the 2017 prices on CNET. It seems a risky move, price high (above OLED!) for the early adopters and then thanks to cheapness of manufacturing they will be able to bring the prices down quickly ready for the rest of the year.. doesn't that make they look like they have flopped? I guess people only buy a telly so often and when Autumn comes they won't know/care what price they were in Spring they just see "WAS £2500, NOW £1250!" signs.

I haven't actually bought one yet, had a house move in between so priorities changed! Was mainly looking at the 55m5500 and 55m7000, both look great and the 5500 in store at Richer Sounds. I'm still hoping to purchase this model in the near future.

I have to say was convinced I was going to buy this tv all be it the 55" inch been uming and rring since Christmas. But have just read the stories about the new q7 and the colours holding their colour no matter how dark or bright the screen is. Way Better screen brightness and better blacks. Also the Nearly invisible connection cable. I have to say I'm gonna hold out a few months for them to come down maybe even see the cost when they come out cos instead of paying 925 for the 55 inch now and not getting quite the same picture or paying maybe £400 or less more for the new proper star of the show model then I best start saving cos if that Is what it says it is y would u buy something that gets no where near it just to save a couple hundred pound.
If it was like £600 vs £1200 I could see that. But if u can't afford next model up save ur money up a bit longer then by time the q7f comes down in price u would have saved the difference for a far superior tv

What did it for me and this TV was the build quality, the plastic back, glued on with sticky-back-plastic, falling off etc.
And although I loved the QLED splash Samsung made at CES but now the dust is settling I'm wondering if Samsung have realised that people are chasing the brightness numbers (nits or cdm/2) and have bet the farm on making things as bright as possible which may come at a cost to actual real world enjoyment. For instance, all the 2017 TVs are the cheaper edge-lit kind, they haven't got a single flagship FALD model unlike 2016... not to say they won't bring one out in the summer, mind... additionally Quantum LED isn't really a reality yet, maybe 2018?
Clearly done by a man. Every 6 inches help you know.

Again, it's a single shop, on Ilford high street this time, but with a great reputation, established 40 years and part of the Euronics network, all great, but Crampton and Moore in the next tier to these kind of shops. Surely. For £10. It's not even handy for the Queen unlike HiFi Confidential
I got the last flagship 2015 Panasonic in 55" for £900 (was £2k) when the new models come out last year and it arrived busted thanks to Yodel and I had to return it :disappointed:. Still haven't got over it or got a 4K TV!

Funny that there are a few of us in the same predicament.
I am also convinced this is the TV for me. 4K UHD HDR 10 bit big brand TV at a reasonable cost.
Slightly put off by varied reviews. Mostly about motion blur and build quality. But can't see any other TV getting close.
Kept monitoring prices and got to £800 on Black Friday but didn't go for it and thought New Year would provide a better deal. It hasn't got any cheaper despite launch of new range being imminent.
There were a few days when Quidco was paying out 8% on Currys and they had it at £799. Added together 2% on discount giftcards. It brought it down to £720. And that was the cheapest but only for a day or so.
Would rather buy from Richer Sounds or John Lewis of course.
The new range will more than likely come out at the full retail and stay there until the summer sales. So i suspect £1000 but adjusting for Brexit exchange rate woes. Would think more like £1100 or £1200.

The prices of the new Q series are shown on the US Samsung site. Not looking good for the reported driving down of cost due to getting to grips with the LED and quantum dots and the general deflation for new (4K) technology. I was hoping for 55 inch Q7 at around £1000 but it looks as if it will be available at around £1800/1900 in the UK from Samsung.
I read somewhere else a forum post saying new Samsung arriving around 28th February but take with pinch of salt.

John Lewis just agreed my £789 price match and said there's currently plenty in stock.
Tempted to sit on this for a bit and see what happens with the price elsewhere and with new models coming out. The price match means I've got it locked in to buy at £789 for 28 days now provided they don't run out of stock.

I was dead set on this TV around BF time but the more I read the more I was put off. Reviews seem to make it sound very hit or miss. Have since decided I'd much rather have a Hisense at ~£500 which although is not as good on paper, reviews much better in terms of SD & HD playback and build quality.

Which.co.uk price predictor says don't buy and that it should drop. The graph seems to show it briefly dropping into the £500s 3 times since new year before reverting to the current price. Unfortunately it doesn't say which supplier had it this cheap.
Camel camel camel also shows it being cheaper at one point last year.
However personally I'm thinking this might be as cheap as it's going to get now unless you get lucky and catch somewhere selling off the last of their stock. But that possibly depends on how many of these are left, when Samsung stops making them (if they haven't already), when the new model is released etc.
I've submitted a JL price match at £789. I believe it's also possible to get them to price match for £28 days after purchasing although never tried it, but it might provide some insurance against future drops.

If I were you I'd just buy it now. There were large amounts of people around Black Friday saying hold off until new year sales but the price simply didn't go back to where it was around Black Friday. As other's have stated products don't seem to drop in price with new releases like they used to!

I tried looking for 2015 models when the 2016 were released and couldn't find any bargains at all. It seems they all just disappeared rather than being sold off cheap. They must have gone somewhere. Or maybe I was just looking in the wrong place. I intend to buy the 2016 if it gird cheap.

It's a good price and by all accounts a very good TV; I am interested in getting this but I have read that new models are going to be released late Feb/Early March and would this not mean that models like this get reduced further or that there may be a better option from the new range? By no means an expert when it comes to TV pricing cycles so advice from someone who is more familiar with how it tends to work would be appreciated!

Yep, new models out soon, prices as yet unknown but you can probably find the Samsung 2016 launch prices and see how they drop over the year. The 2017 models will be probably follow the same.
Interestingly, the Sony 2016 models will get all the Android TV updates that the 2017 models will get so maybe Samsung will choose to add any improvements, HLG maybe(?) back to 2016 models too. They added YouTube HDR to all the 2016 models just recently.

No disrespect to HiFi Confidential, as they have been around for 25 years and they have a very good standing, but they are just one small, high street shop in London. Very handy for the Queen (near Buckingham Palace, have a look on StreetView!), but Crampton and Moore are an established chain of stores.

Had the 60" model since just before xmas. Beast of a TV, everytime I watch something I'm just blown away. The Marco Polo with HDR looks out of this world and other 4K content on Netflix. Ps4 games with HDR look great too. Blows my old 65" Sony out of the water
