Fake TV is a burglar deterrent that recreates the light of real HD TV television. Fake TV's super-bright LED fill a room with light in thousands of possible shades of color. Fake TV simulates scene changes, fades, swells, and on-screen motion. When you are away, Fake TV says "alive" far more than a lamp on a timer ever could. From outside, it looks just like someone is home watching TV. So when a burglar steps into a house, he knows to move on to an easy target. He will not move forward. Buying a Fake TV and make your home an unappealing choice for a break-in.

Wouldn't it be more practical to setup a bunch of elborate Home Alone style traps? Record it, and if you get burgled put it on YouTube and make the monies.

I find it much more effective when going on holiday to leave all the lights on and set the telly to the highest volume. Not only does it trick prospective burglars into thinking that you are home, but it also ensures that there is increased police viability in your area.

This unit only produces light effects, no sound. So only useful for deterring deaf burglars.

Do they not offer a 14" CRT alternative, it might prove more of a deterrent.
What are the running costs of this silent light show, is there a bulb wattage?

You don't need a timer with this one as it turns itself on at dusk.
