might not be the hottest as its not wireless or color, but I have been looking for a mono laser printer to set up on the home network for a while. at this price and 3rd party toner it should fit the bill.

You can normally buy kits where you refill the toner powder into the existing cartridge. Even cheaper.

That's not cheap! For cheap compatible toner, I pay about £9 for compatible toner for my cheap laser

Thanks for pointing this out. I've made point several times. no good buying a cheap printer or Gillette razor without considering cost of replacement catridges over lifetime printer. Reaserch cartridge cost aswell. as often find buying a slightly more printer works out better value in long run. don't forget there's a reason why these ( or anything is on offer). it's crap or too expensive or poor value for money compared with other offerings. suppliers over estimated demand and doesn't want to be left with stock that needs to be discounted down further or its been discontinued and newer model out soon.

nonsense.
the laser toners last AGES, even the supplied toner's lifespan alone justifies purchase of £24.
I'm still on the original toners of my Dell laser printer I bought via a deal here for £40 5 YEARS ago and use it at least 3 times a week.
no ink dry-up,no maintenance to headache no bleeding ink, no poor quality nonsense associated with rubbish inkjets.
Laser FTW.

I have one of these, it's excellent. Replacement compatible toner is £31/2600 pages so about 1.2p per sheet. It looks fine.
The initial cartridge is 800 pages so about 3p per sheet.
It also has an inksave mode which causes it to print half darkness, so you get twice as many pages

Got the wireless version Rioch SP213 about 6 months ago. still not used up the toner included. Our old Kodak printer/Scanner was terrible for inks as even if we never used it the chip on the cartridge would render it as spent and unusable after about a month. Spent so much replacing the inks and only getting a few prints off per cartridge as we were low use users.

brilliant printer, tricky to set up the wifi version.
The best bit is, no blocked inkjet heads, which is the downfall of many inkjets which are only used occasionally

I have one of these, had it for about two years now and the toner is still going (albeit infrequent printing).
It's a total pain to get set up but once it's going it does the job first time every time - I've never been able to say that about a printer before!

Does anyone know how this compares to the Brother HL-2130?
I know that is an older and more expensive printer, I just wonder how it compares because I'm looking for something similar for a relative but the 2130 isn't really available now due to its age unless you want to buy secondhand or pay over the odds.
What I like most about the Brother printer is that I can buy comptible toners for around £7 so printing is very cheap.

I bought the wifi version from Box but via tesco direct, it was £29.99
It is brilliant at what it does, connected effortlessly (via the ricoh app iir), and with the app I have printed from android phone, iphone and ipad, I use linux on my PC and there is no problem.
Just ordered some toner from a sponsored link on amazon which should be arriving today, that was £20.80 for 2 cartridges, free delivery Sold by Esprit Cartridges
Will let you know how good they are.
Just checked, the page yield per cartridge says 9600!!! or perhaps that's for the 2?

201n user here, a bit of feedback.
This may not apply to this model but connection via Ethernet was a bit tricky to set up.
This will apply. Initial toner is only 1,000 pages, when I bought mine 2 years ago, replacement toner cost £70 so I used a refill. 30 minutes to do, cost £16 and really easy. My ink is now running out again so I just bought some new ink, £19.99 Ebay. I haven't fitted it yet but it's a 2 minute job.
I'm really happy with my purchase. 2 years printing for £40 and I expect at least another year from this cartridge. If I factor in my daughters Epson + refills, this is much more economical plus there's no head cleaning, incompatible cartridges ect. The only disadvantage is B&W but that suits me fine.
Also if the ink has dropped from £70 to £20 then I'd expect further reductions in future or bigger capacity for the same price.. These printers must fly off the shelves and have a massive userbase.
One tip, if your ink is running out, take the cartridge out and give it a shake. I've had another 50 pages or so and it's still running, hence why I have'nt put the new cartridge in yet.
Tequila has it spot on ^^
