Firstly, there is no 1080P screen version of the MIIX 310, and secondly no one has claimed that this is 1080P

These are excellent tablets. Lets you do most things you do on a laptop on this light weight and small form factor.

Obviously its not a super powerful one, so keep your expectations right and use it for browsing 3-4 tabs at a time, play videos, listen to music, play games, stream to tv, connect directly to tv, watch netflix or now tv or about anything that runs on a browser. If google changes the format of youtube videos in future, hell it will still run it all unliike other OS's

Got one last week and am absolutely in love with it.

So Super HEAT from me.

I have the Miix 8 and it's decent enough, but then again I picked mine up used, mint, on ebay for under £40! This comes with the "proper" keyboard though.
It's not a laptop by any means but it'll just about keep up with some of the cheap chromebooks, performance wise (it's only running an atom - the same as mine). If you just need it for browsing then it should do the job, but I'm not sure at this price point - there are lots of older tablets out there...
I picked up a bluetooth keyboard with a trackpad that supports 2 finger scrolling etc for a tenner on ebay - works great with my Miix 8!

similar in hardware to the linx.

I terms of performance it's a bit crap..
but it's not always a case of oh well it's half the price and half the performance so thats fine then. sometimes it's just unusable and value for money argument goes out the windows.

P.s. I bought my linx 10 for simple emails and browsing and I had very low expectations.... unfortunately not low enough it seems.

windows 10 tablets may play up sometimes. my friend recently picked one up and when buttery died you weren't able to switch it back on even after recharging. had to do hard reset every time. guy at the shop told him it's a common issue with win 10 tablets and it's better if you use it with charger plugged in lol

2 Feb 17 #27
Yeah that's a good price for an S2. This Lenovo tablet isn't like for like though. The screen isn't as good, it won't feel as well built and importantly it's windows rather than android. Windows is a good laptop operating system with touch support, but it's not as good as android to use as a tablet and there are less applications available through the windows store than the android play store.

This is a good product for this low a price, but if you're happy with your galaxy I wouldn't worry about it.

2 Feb 17 #29
True, but IMO slightly irrelevant when you are talking about a windows machine running a proper x86 processor. There are literally millions of applications that run on Windows.

That said I have the old Miix with the hi-res screen but I much rather have the S2 if I just wanted a tablet.

For all those who say that a 2gb, 1.8 ghz processor, 32 gb hdd runs well, i but ask one question.

How many of you have ever owned a good spec laptop or tablet.

you will need to install office, it has windows so no android store, unless you want to install an android emulator, Plex client is available for Windows and should work great with your Plex server
ribena1234
2 Feb 17 1 #34
I had one of these. It was terrible. Not enough power to use as a laptop, the touchpad was rubbish, it felt flimsy, and Windows is hopeless in touchscreen mode. Get an Chromebook, Android tablet or iPad instead, or a fully functioning Windows laptop with proper hard drive etc.
MrPuddington to ribena1234
2 Feb 17 #41
That is how I feel about these cheap 2-in-1s. They are compromised by a slow CPU, low RAM, low storage, and a flimsy construction. You get two worlds, but neither is really convincing. A laptop is much better for running Office, and an Android tablet is much better for apps.

Still, at this price you can't really complain.
SFconvert
2 Feb 17 #35
I have a Toshiba click which is virtually identical to this in spec, though the Toshiba has a higher res screen.
It isn't fast but for general stuff it's ok, I even work from home (remote access) with it and plug a monitor into the HDMI.
BigYoSpeck
2 Feb 17 #36
I have a Windows 2 in 1 and an android tablet. I pretty much only use the 2 in 1 as a touch screen laptop mostly with Windows desktop apps as you say.

For tablet usage I go with android, windows just doesn't have enough tablet style apps.

And if I'm honest even android is second to Apple for tablet apps.

I have one of these it is fine for everyday browsing, watching videos and some gaming too.
However be wary using firefox on it as for some reason firefox causes mine to crash, all other browsers are fine including palemoon which is based on firefox lol.
But other than that it does everything i need it to do and you can expand the storage with a micro sd card.

My link 10 works great for what i need it for. It streams vids, plays music, can run a few google chrome tabs, some store games and the battery lasts longer than any laptop ive ever used....
The ONLY moan about it is the touchpad is terrible. Not a massive issue as the keyboard works great, and you can use the screen instead of the mouse....

Does it come with Stylus? I am looking for a cheap tablet for taking notes. Any suggestion?
captainbeaky to happydeals
3 Feb 17 2 #45
I'd look for a refurbished Dell Venue Pro 10 or 11. They usually cost about the same as this (without keyboard) & have 4gb of ram, 64gb/ 128gb storage, full hd screen & support a stylus (which costs about £10-15).

Or you could look for an Asus T100chi which comes with an active stylus. Ebuyer were selling them for £129 (new) last year if you can find a time machine.
Fleabum to happydeals
3 Feb 17 1 #49
Cheap and good stylus don't go hand in hand, my suggestion would be to look for a 2nd hand Surface or Venue with stylus. You might get lucky and pick one up cheap.

Windows 10 and 2GB RAM should not go in the same sentence as each other I had a small laptop i took on holiday with me and it was absolute garbage it could barely do anything because most of its memory was taken up by the OS.

3 Feb 17 #43
Just wondering what were the specs of the laptop, and what OS was it?
MrPuddington to blitzmmccv
5 Feb 17 #58
Agreed. I have a 10 year old laptop, and it has 2GB of RAM. Windows 10 installs fine, but running any app is getting tough. Chrome with more than a few tabs feels really sluggish. Word 2016 (with all the grammar check etc) is also a bit slow, but still usable unless you have large documents. I would imagine that in a year or two it would be get really painful.

Ordered this for my Daughter. Thanks for the post. Have some heat. I use an Intel compustick in the back of my 65" 4k TV with the same specs, I installed OS from scratch in signature edition mode (no bloatware) and it runs very well. More than enough for basic day to day needs so this will be great for my teenage genious and her education requirements.

Intel® Cherry Trail Quad-Core Z8300 Processor, (2 M Cache, up to 1.84 GHz)
Windows 10 Home
2 GB DDR3L RAM
11.6" 1366x768 Screen

It couldn't even play a 720p movie file

BigYoSpeck
5 Feb 17 #59
The ten year old CPU and mechanical harddrive could be why though.
MrPuddington
5 Feb 17 #60
Hey, I may be cheap, but not that cheap. :-) I think the original hard drive was 120 GB (still 4 times more than this offer), and now it has a 192 GB SDD. RAM, CPU speed and the old GPU are what is holding it back from being useful for much longer.
popoyaya
5 Feb 17 2 #61
Usually what holds back performance on cheap windows tablets is the storage speed. I just got a Connect 9 Windows tab with 1GB ram and a Z3735G yet it's fast enough because it has a decent SSD at 150mb/s reads and 50mb/s writes. This makes the swap file speedy enough to get away with low ram. Trouble is they don't mention the storage speed in specs so you don't know what you're getting. I suspect a slow eMMC drive would run windows like a dog (no offense to dogs). Can anyone comment on the eMMC in this device?
MrPuddington to popoyaya
6 Feb 17 #64
My experience is that tablets with 1GB of RAM are pretty constraint (and in fact they are no longer supported in Windows 10), while 2GB is about enough for basic jobs. But yes, slow eMMC can be a real pain. In fact, I had a Lenovo 10 Miix 3 with really slow eMMC... maybe that is a sign?

BigYoSpeck to caz15

You get the same 12 month guarantee as new. It's probably just been an open box, briefly used them returned. Then it gets inspected, repackaged and sold.

I've a few refurbished items. With a warranty it's nothing to worry about.

14 Feb 17 #73
Cliched? No justification? Have you used Windows 10 on a computer with more RAM and a better processor before?

I've had a computer with these specs before and it was soooooo slow. These shouldn't be marked as offers, they're awful.
BigYoSpeck
14 Feb 17 #74
Yes I have a desktop system with 16gb of RAM, a 2-in-1 with 4gb of RAM, a Windows Atom based tablet with 2gb of RAM and my parents use a 1gb Windows tablet plugged into their TV for mostly media functions.

Windows runs fine on a 2gb system that only costs a little over £100 provided you are realistic in your use of it. Browsing with a few tabs open, some document editing, watching media, emailing etc... all perfectly viable on such machines.

Don't you're not going to be running full photoshop on it, video editing, or sitting with 20+ Chrome tabs on the go, but they are perfectly usable within reason.
