Probably the same problem Tesco has had, complete over saturation. I live near Birmingham and there's 3 in the city centre within about a 1 mile radius. They also bought 99p stores and have converted their shops into Poundland's so that's probably put them in a similar situation to Game when they bought Gamestation; you have two shops that were competing and will have been quite close to each other now expected to work in harmony and not cannibalise each others business.

Full of branded goods last time I looked so hardly tat,Like someone else has stated they keep supermarkets on their toes.I think over expansion plus other pound retailers have hit profits .

No its due to the 99p store under cutting them.

Looks like poundland are struggling then. Be gutted if they went under as we need these shops to keep supermarket prices down, especially on toiletries.

Maybe not struggling but some stores had to close as part of the deal when they bought the 99p chain of stores.

They're doing themselves out of business by sticking one on every street corner. In Glasgow there's one on Argyle Street, one a minute walk away on Union Street and one a three minute walk away on the Trongate.
In Woolwich, near where my dad lives, there's a Poundland on either side of a shopping street, literally across the road from each other! What's the point?!

Same situation in Burton-on-Trent. Everything 25% off in one of the stores opposite the police station

I'm sure this one is a Poundland clearance store and everything was 50p already in it?

They bought family bargains not long back. Changed all stores to poundland then closing the less popular stores.

Now the pound is only worth about the same as belly button fluff they're probably struggling to keep shelves stacked with thing ms that only cost a pound.

This is a massive store (purpose built furniture store previously) and originally opened as a Poundland CLEARANCE store (yes there is such a thing) where clearance items were down to 50p.

By the sound of it all The Poundland stores closing were a part of the 99p takeover deal. So all the original ones are unaffected

I don't see the need for 25% off labels on every shelf 2 inches apart
