Let's get this going. I'd like to congratulate Sony on one of the greatest lineups in a long while!

Just to confirm for anyone who already has the disc version of LBP3, the save data will not necessarily cross over. The PSPlus download is an EU version and our disc is GB, therefore all my sons progress and self built levels do not appear on the Download version and when you start the game it shows 0% completed. We've deleted it and are keeping the disc.

Think you can buy them without having a PS4. Just create your account on the PC and purchase, once you have your PS4 and connect it to your account you can download the games.

Honestly the only reason I have been able to justify ps plus is Black Ops 3. I have enjoyed Titanfall 2 but that game has gotten kinda boring now. I'm annoyed as my ps plus is running out next week and I still want to play Black Ops 3.

For me its always nice to get good games either way, even if I own them.

The golden patch of plus was on the ps3 when every month there was multiple decent titles and whilst I did own most of them having so many decent games on the HDD was a nice little bonus. Its one of the main reasons I have kept my ps3s.

same as now on the xbox having the BC games each month is cracking, having classic games to dip in and out of is a nice brucie bonus when I cant be bothered to change disc or go away and take the console with me. I don't have to take loads of disks to have a good choice.

Tbh I dont care about ps plus anymore either way as I have all the games I want for the system. Having good ps plus games would have helped years ago when I was starved for games on PS4.

To be honest I am not massively disappointed most months although I rarely play the giveaways on ps4...

but for other regions to be getting

GOW 3. Until dawn and LBP 3

in one month???

that's better than we have had in this region since ps4 launch...

Yeah, I never picked up Until Dawn so I'd be really happy with that one. Still as it's a Sony published game I think it's a fair bet to see it coming to other regions PS+ this year, same with GoW 3.

It is interesting reading the views on Plus being linked to online, from my point if view it needs to stop. I don't understand how anyone can be OK with, for instance, Sony charging you to connect to Bungie's servers in Destiny, or Sony charging you for a peer to peer connection in Uncharted 4. Every game sold on Playstation gives Sony money in the form of licencing fees to the developer (one reason PC games tend to be cheaper), so they are profiting their already and then they charge the consumer extra to unlock quite often a major chunk of any game they buy.

The system only exists on consoles due to the monopoly the platform holders have, as shown with Windows Live it won't work on a more open platform. Whether the fee is low or not it is still effectively a gaming tax that increases the profits for shareholders who likely don't care about gaming and gives no benefit to the people who do care.

This post isn't about this month, though. Titan Souls and Day of the Tentacle are easily worth the price of admission.

6 Feb 17 #252
I'm not saying it _would_ cost less, I'm aware of Sony's position. I'm saying it is _possible_ for them to lower the price if they removed the games, not that they definitely would. I'm also not talking about 'reducing the sub price', I'm saying they could keep the current sub _and also_ introduce a bare-bones version. More options for customers.
You do accept that it costs Sony money to offer the rentals on PS+ right?

Yes and it was poor value back then, though the infrastructure had to be paid for some way I guess. It's possible that MS were making a significant profit when it was just the bare-bones service.
imdave
5 Feb 17 #251
Ah, the old assumption that it would cost less if they removed the PS+ games. Doubt it. The XBL service has been £39.99 since it's inception. They only added the "games for gold" program to combat PS+, which itself was introduced when the 360 was dominating.
If people think Sony would reduce the PSN sub price in a time of market dominance, they really haven't been paying attention to Sony.

I remember when Disney removed the DVDs from the Blu-ray + DVD "Double Play" sets, was great how the price went from £14.99 to £14.99. Amazing savings.

2 Feb 17 1 #233
Their issue is that it would be less than £40 a year if it was just the bare-bones access to PSN for multiplayer, it costs Sony money to offer these PS+ rentals after all. I can see the merit in the argument - have two tiers of PS+ to satisfy everyone. Those that want to sample these games could pay the £40 (though usually less) fee, and those that just want to play online could pay less (and put that money towards games that they actually want).
Something similar would be interesting for XBL, though I think due to the nature of that service you're getting a lot more bang for your buck.

Knack is a running gag, it's presence in future months lineup has been "leaked"/rumoured many times and it was never true. So now everyone predicts Knack and feign surprise/horror when it doesn't materialise.
imdave
2 Feb 17 2 #231
Not the biggest fan of LBP, but I'll still be adding the Feb games to the download list as always.

Was waiting for the PS+ announcement before ordering some games in the "Games Under £16". The 5 games I was looking at were not in this months PS+, so I went ahead and bought them with a £30 PSN card + some left over credit (Heavy Rain/Beyond... £12.49, Life is Strange £3.99, Infamous Second Son £8.49 & Adr1ft £5.59).

2 Feb 17 2 #230
Very unexcited by this. Guess since Sony now force you to pay to play online they don't think they need to include decent games in PS+.

LBP 3 is probably the worst in the series, not even worth grabbing free
morocco1
2 Feb 17 1 #227
If you only really play multiplayer then how come you complain so much about being asked to support the online infrastructure, to the tune of a very reasonable £3 a month (for which you also get some new games, yours to take or leave as you please)?

No doubt you'd complain if the online service was free, but not very reliable / prone to being hacked / didn't support cross game chat etc... oh - like PS3's was...
darkspace100
2 Feb 17 1 #226
Well I barely really play single player games anymore as multiplayer is more fun so it is half the game missing if I don't pay.

Wasn't aiming to misrepresent you, apologies if you felt I did. Nor was I really aiming the majority of my post at you in particular. Just don't understand why these monthly threads are on here at all (vs. say listing what premiership games are being shown in Sky Sports this month), let alone needing to be moved to a section for more exposure (when anyone eligible with see this in the fullness of time anyway), LET ALONE why it's the hottest deal of the day (when PS+ subscription deals themselves, fail to get anywhere near this degree of heat)!

Bonkers.

But that's not your fault or doing, I do appreciate that!
morocco1
2 Feb 17 1 #222
Yup. And if you buy a PSN sub or credit from one of the numerous resellers, it's possible to get 12 months for around £32, making it even cheaper every month. It's excellent value for money, certainly more so than Nintendo's mooted equivalent sounds like.

What none of the "GOD PS SUX I'M CANCELLING!!!1!" type seem to notice is that the PSN functionality and reliability has improved massively since the PS3 days, and that's due to the investment made possible by PSN revenue - I'm happy to invest more in a higher quality product, especially when it's less than £3 a month, can't understand why it's such an issue for some.
didsburydan
2 Feb 17 1 #221

2 Feb 17 1 #214
agree with Noobster. at best you can pay less than £3 per month for which you get a host of games across multiple platforms whilst they can be of mixed quality they have to try to meet lots of different tastes. you get your back up data. having had system failures in the past this is invaluable. plus discounts freebies etc. I think some people just want to kick up a fuss here. chill out and play a game. Currently enduring COD IW.

I dunno, i wouldnt say half the games. Most games are single player (plus maybe online) any online only games such as battlefront would be the only issue.

I know what you mean, though ,it would be nicer to be free without the games. But £3.33 a month isn't alot really
darkspace100
2 Feb 17 1 #206
It is forcing people as if you dont pay then thats half or more of a game thats cut off and gimped especially as games nowadays are so online focused. Its an unnecessary cost that I could have spent on a extra game a year had it stayed free as PS3 did so.

injustice was really released so they could get their dlc sold, Injustice was first light, given to us about the time second son came out, and ground zero was more of a demo!

Say Person A pays for PS+, person B can add A's account to their PS4 and make their PS4 the primary console for A's PSN account. That means B can download any digital content owned by A including the PS+ games to their PS4 and it will be playable by B when they are signed into their own account. as you can only have one primary PS4 the only account on A's PS4 that can access their digital content would be A so any other user of A's account could not.

2 Feb 17 #187
but then the ps4 launched at end of 2013 and you needed PS plus to go online, then the quality of games dropped.

personally I just see the games as a bonus, PS plus subscription is primarily to play online, agree Sony are pulling in a fortune, but those servers must be costing a fortune as well
BubaMan
2 Feb 17 #186
My (cynical) guess is because "Not a Hero" is in the sale right now so they delayed the announcement and release of it through PS Plus in an attempt to get a few more sales.
SVRich
2 Feb 17 2 #185
You really do hate PS+ and Sony don't you? I have never heard PS+ be described as Sony dictating what you should play..Are GWG, EA Access, Netflix etc also police states where your entertainment is dictated to you? I think you need to sell your PS4 and get a PC or and XB1, I think it would be good for your stress levels.
djaydearz
2 Feb 17 #184
wrong, presumably you pay for their online service rather than the games they give away.
Sony are not forcing anyone to pay £39.99 a year, so by all means stay offline, save £40 a year and spend that on a game you prefer
griff77p
2 Feb 17 #183
How do you share ps+ ? Can both people still be online at same time ???
Smash41
2 Feb 17 #182
But thats not how it works. Sony update the store on Tuesdays therefore the PS+ titles are added on the first Tueday of the month and announced the Wednesday before. It's been like that for ages. How does it work on the other service? Dont they add 50% of the games halfway through the month?

darkspace100
2 Feb 17 1 #180
Because they have nothing but contempt for their consumers. How PS Plus should work is that the games should be announced every 24th of a month and then should become free on the first day of each month but as they are in the sales lead they don't care.

I have no idea how these listings get any heat at all- it's useless for people who don't have + and freely available in a predictable place for everyone who does. It's not even a deal AFAIAC.

warlockuk
2 Feb 17 #173
If it's PS4, you're getting two games. I dunno, some months - for me - it's decent, for others not as much. This is a better game than you get most months but still fairly middling.

I'm probably not the target audience; I'm in that mindset now where I may just play the five games that I really want to play on PS4 now and then get rid of the whole lot.
BubaMan

It's nice that I can finally play LBP3 multiplayer with my friends but it's just one game that briefly sold for full price over 2 years ago (until people realised it wasn't as good as it's predecessors).

I'm guessing that their point is at least partly that the PS+ sub allows you access to online multiplayer.

I've just watched your link and agree. They should put some/more JRPG/JVN's in there. I know the Vita has bombed in their mind and become niche. All the more reason to chuck us a niche game every month. Oh wait, they don't care :smirk:

We get it, you don't like the games offered on PS+ and what you think of a game, regardless of if you have played it, is not your opinion but cold hard fact so if anyone does profess to liking them they must be lying. I can't think what they would have to gain from this but it is the only logical explanation.

You'd be surprised how very few manly or grown up games for that matter, offer any local co-op options.

Other than PES 2017 and the odd black ops3 we don't have many couch coop options. Plus after beers it's just spamming buttons anyway so LBP3 fits the bill nicely.

Why does everyone get so angry about PS Plus?

It's about £3 a month. Get two games for the PS4 each month - £1.50 each. Totally unreasonable to expect big names every month.

PS+ doesn't exist in a bubble though (neither will Nintendo's version). When the competitor is offering something like Project Cars (as well as letting subscribers keep the last gen games permanently [which also work on the current gen console]), then this selection does feel a tad 'cheaper'.
This is a relatively good PS+ month for me, but XBL Gold still beats it IMO.

Great for PS4 owners (getting 3-5 games each month) but no so good for those who own a Vita as well. People will cheer about LBP3, but its honestly not as big of a deal as it looks. The game came out to little fanfare, didn't add much compared to its predecessors, and was clearly extremely rushed. Its also been on sale for peanuts many times.

However, for anyone who didn't own a PS3 at the time and didn't jump on the LBP train when it was at its strongest and was basically Sony's mascot, there's a lot of fun stuff to sink your teeth in to.
