Unfortunately this CAN'T be used with hue.. There are 2 different versions of philips lights. Hue (or friends of hue) and Living colours. The living colours lights cannot connect to the hue bridge, they are independent and can only link with other living colours lights.

Incorrect, they can definitely be used with Hue, and if you struggle to get Hue to see it you can purchase the iConnectHue app which easily finds these and adds them to the system.

Have 4 of these and never paid more than £30 for any of them. Good Hue addition, but not worth nearly £50.

Lucky if you can get them for that price, I would snap at at more if they did, however I fear they will rarely come down to this price anytime soon.

This is a crazy expensive price for an RGB LED that probably cost a couple of quid to make, Philips are to lighting what Apple are to computers.

Got mine today through Prime. Whilst I admit it's on the pricey side, I am very impressed with the design and feel about it. Really makes a big difference to my small but comfortably sized office.
The price model can be claimed about a lot of items nowadays, Apple like you say are just one. Dare I say T-Shirts with awful meme's on are another.
It's your opinion and your welcome to it, but I am very impressed with what I have received today.

Just wanted to add the hue living colours do work with the hub, I have some nearly five years old working with the hub. And you can get the remotes all to work as well. If you love lighting these are great, if you see lighting only as a means to see what your doing then don't bother

What's the difference between this and say the bloom or iris ?

2 watts and design. The iris is 10 watts.

Bloom is pretty much the same light just in a different form factor, about 1/3rd less large. Personally it's my favourite as it's a lot more compact and looks nicer. The Iris is slightly more powerful but it's very hard to notice a difference side by side, but about the size of a small football.
I think £50 is a lot for this, they're usually cheaper around black friday.

can someone who has one tell me why these look so good? Always see these offers and tempted because of all the feedback but just want to know why they are so fab? Do they make a big difference to the room and ambience?

They change the room. I have mine set to go through the colour spectrum and it's really relaxing after a days work. Everyone I know likes them and bought them for their houses.

Absolutely can be used with remote and hue, well assuming you have a bridge. Need to pile your lights and bridge together, enter serial numbers of lights, much quicker, then train them to use the same remote.
Plenty info if you Google. Is a pain, be prepared to mess around for a bit.

Yes, I have this running on hue. I have lost the use of the round remote that came with it, but instead have gained all the app control of a hue lightbulb. I have it set on a timer, so not touched it since I set it up - comes on a 7.30 every morning and goes off at midnight.
For al those that already have a couple of these and no hue bridge, consider getting a hue bridge. a starter set is the way to go :smiley:

It's possible to use remotes and hue app, I have it set up using both but was a bit of messing to do and required a particular order of things - I forget exactly what though!

How do 2 sync up if you don't have the hue bridge? I'm assuming they are a "dumb" lamp without the bridge as well, ie no phone app usability? I like these and I need a lamp, just don't want to spend £50 on one when I need a bridge as well. I already have Hive but I think Hue is better for lighting.

I got one during the Flash sale on Amazon about 4 weeks ago for £24.99 brand new. Never appealed to me before but for the price, I HAD to get one.
Fell in love straight away and bought another for £40 brand new from Shpock. £65 for 2, fantastic value. Have them in a corner of the room each and it looks great.

These are great. I have 2 of them. One behind the TV and one opposite wall and the good news is you can sync them together so they change to the same colours. Worth the money if your into that type of thing. My first one cost £149 but the second I got at the time on a deal for £30. Voted hot
