Two white bulbs for £22 is pretty good, everything else I wanted is OOS everywhere. If only I had another good place to put a lightstrip, first one is great.

Ridiculous tempted to switch to Hue but can't quite justify it...

I snagged the colour kit last time this deal was live, but returned it after I bought 6 LIFX colour bulbs for £10 each on Amazon as a pricing error which they honoured.

By far the best starter kit with the most practical bulbs. My colour bulbs are usually rarely used for colour and you need a physical switch for family to accept the lights. Also iconnecthue app to fully program the dimmer.

Not sure why the code isn't working for some people. I've just tried and working absolutely fine. Ordered as though I was going to pick up in store and then went through to the pay online screen - entered code - took £25 off.

Considered buying this, but a quick look seems to indicate that Lifx is a better bulb overall is not slightly more expensive

Can anybody explain why these warrant the price? Using an app to switch a light on seems excessive to me and I'm a heavy phone user...

Wish I didn't get hue bulbs. Not suitable for my requirements but I spent so much on them that I'm stuck with them. Pretty pathetic how they default to same colour when turned on.

Bought lots of these last week. Absolutely brilliant. Purchased the colour starter set, a couple of white bulbs and the light strip. Works lovely with an echo dot. Go for the colour starter kit if you can afford it. That's the best value deal.

The normal white yes I agree with you but the white ambiance is much better, it has a large range of whites like blue white, sunset hue whites etc. Brilliant for waking you up in the morning with a soft glow and easy on the eyes at night, and if you want to read something in bright light then those options exist too, plus all the dimmer options on each ambiance setting.

Can you set the white ambiance ones to sync to sunrise times ?

I'm not sure if it can be set to the actual sunrise (although with a link to a weather app I'm sure it can), however I set mine to mimmick sunrise at 7am (wilst it is still dark outside this time of year), it fades in over a 30 minute period to help you wake up, similar to how the "SAD" lamps work. It really helps in the morning - more often than not I wake up naturally now with the help of the light, rather than waiting for my normal alarm clock to go off (which before getting the philips hue ambiance system was the only thing that would wake me up!)

I sleep with the curtains open but find that not foolproof in the UK, esp as you said in winter lol. Thats what I was thinking with the available apps on IFTTT.com could it mimic as per outside, I have loads of streetlights of various white shades and find it harder to sleep with the curtains open.

Argos don't appear to sell single white ambience bulbs. Also next to no stock across the range in the Sheffield region. Shame as was after three white bulbs and some sensors.

It all works really nicely with Amazon Echo - in my opinion anyway. One thing I would like though is an app to control groups of HA stuff. A bit like the apple Home app but obviously so much stuff isn't compatible with homekit. With alexa I can say "turn on downstairs" and all my downstairs lights from different manufacturers come on. Would be nice to be able to control that from an app. anyone seen one?

In the short term you could just get an colour changing LED strip with remote that you get on eBay. Around £5-£10 and seem pretty good. Ideal world Hue but the strips are stupid prices.

Would most likely have it behind the TV so may as well wait until I need a new TV one day and buy a Philips Ambilight TV which can then be synced to your Hue set up and apps !
