Deal starts at 2.59pm today (05 Feb). 47% off. Current price is £49.87 so I make that a discounted price of £26.43.
It's the B22 Bayonet bulb which doesn't seem to get discounted as frequently as the Edison bulbs. Amazon mobile app says it's Prime customers only, but desktop says Early Access which might mean it will be opened to non Prime customers after a period of time. It doesn't say whether only 1 or multiple permitted, often it's just 1.
Best way to find it is to go to 'Today's Deals' then filter on 'Department: Lighting' and then scroll down.
This is my first post so go easy on me! Been using hotukdeals app for a few months now and it's been very useful to me, so this is me paying back to the community.

Managed to get one through the wait list!!
Have been spending stupid amounts on these since the Argos deal. :disappointed::disappointed:
Do they actually save energy and are they cheap to use? (Trying to find a good reason/excuse to give to my partner when the new bulb arrives!!!)

How can you tell the difference between G2 & G3 bulbs? Is the G3 in a white box? Any other tell tales ?

Noticed my error just before your reply! I find them perfect for the odd mood setting Lamp tucked away in a corner.
Quite like the look (and price) of the Qube strips currently on indiegogo. Just waiting to see if IFTTT integration gets completed so I can add them into Smartthings.
Personally wouldn't bother with Lightify unless you need E14 bulbs. The Flexi strips look okay for their price too.

I've one bulb in a lamp and one in a main light. I just figured that if V1 bulbs are worth, say, £15 then I was effectively getting the v1 hub for £6. Also, at the time the Argos code had stopped working for the Hue stuff though it's back working now. If I decided I really liked it and wanted 'scenes' then I could go out and buy the V2 starter kit which is compatible with the two V1 bulbs I already had.
But I can't imagine it without Alexa. Saying "Alexa, turn on hall light" or "Alexa, turn living room to 50 percent" is great.

I have Alexa, a Harmony Hub and a Oneplus 3 with a great app that allows you to operate bulbs from quick settings tiles. I also have iconnecthue on my ipad.
The dimmers get used most not just by old me but my kids and guests.

You can use these anywhere you like. I have several hue lights and often use Alexa to switch them. Lazy? Many may think so, do they use a remote for the TV?

5 Feb 17#40
I mentioned it in previous threads so thought I'd add it here - if you're thinking of getting coloured/ambience bulbs/strips down the line then Alexa cannot natively control 'scenes' via voice via a V1 hub. Needs to be a V2 hub unless you don't mind installing 3rd party apps to be a go between on a V1 hub setup.

I got the starter park yesterday with striplights. However I need about 30 spots and I'm a bit reluctant to pay £50 a pop for colour or £25 each for white. Is there any other brand that I can use that will link to the Philips hue bridge?
Thanks I also have the dot hence why im looking for this set up, can you use these in lamps or just main lights?

Best buy is the starter with hub, dimmer and 2 white ambience bulbs via Argos deal. After the novelty it's the white settings you'll use most and no-one wants to search for a phone to turn a light on.
I already had an Amazon dot and its great using voice activation to switch on/off. Plus you can get packs of 2 bulb adapters for £1 at Ikea to convert screw type to bayonette type

Yes, not Richer Colours, should have put that in the post. Have the B22 Richer Colours ever received a significant discount?
I'm looking to purchase for secondary rooms (Hall/Landing) where Richer Colours less important and I was thinking of getting the ambient whites. With these, at night I can do 1% red which is darker than 1% white.

Picked up 2 bayonet (£29.99) and 1 Edison (£29) richer colours before Christmas.
Minor semi-related quibble, the switches, why don't they come with a backplate the same size as a standard light switch? So annoying having to replaster the holes in walls.

Just wondering what this is for. Am I right in thinking it would let me sit on the sofa and turn a light on rather than having to go through all the faff of getting up and doing it?
Agreed. I bought from Argos using the previous HOME25 and got richer colours despite Argos site saying it was old gen. Collect in store then you can check before you take home. The front of Richer Colours box has a small Richer Colours logo top right.

Philips’ Hue smart lighting system is getting onboard with Apple HomeKit, with Hub 2.0 embracing third-party IoT protocols alongside a bevy of brighter bulbs. Compared to the original Hub, the second-gen model – along with being square now – has 500x more space and runs a full Linux OS. It’s that which allows it to handle HomeKit interactions, using Siri to control the ZigBee-connected bulbs.
