Model usually sells for £300 in its various guises. It's not a good price it's £30 more than the price it's been all year at various retailers with various badges on the front. Recently the identical TV but with a different brand on the front was only £230 at Amazon.

2015 model Fair comment, 2015 model, not great value. Supermarket interface, "Essential Apps" i.e. No ITV Hub or All 4.... It's perfectly ok if your expectations involve a punch-up in Asda on Black Friday

Why is a Panasonic not a Panasonic?

..I believe this was only implemented on the defunct 2015 "CX400, CR430, C300" models, following the unprecedented backlash from "duped" buyers and retailer feedback, Panasonic rightly abandoned this practice. Only Genuine High Quality product is supplied in their Award Winning 2016 "DX" Range and the forthcoming 2017 "EX" Line-Up which features THX Certified OLEDS as the Premium Product.

Made by Vestel in Turkey as are most sub £500 televisions.
The most costly part of todays top of the range televisions are the processor and the panel, which can easily cost upwards of £700 on their own

Bear in mind that although Vestel make some dodgy cheap panels they also make some OK ones.
They are a whitelabel manufacturer with different levels of stuff. My older toshiba uses a Vestel and it refuses to die
Most the electronics in your house are probably whitelabelled

Except you are missing the point that it is £30 more than its normal price of £300 and it has been as cheap as £230 so this is absolutely not a hot deal!

Actually I believe Panasonic did themselves catastrophic harm rebadging Vestels.
Their own makes are now looked on suspiciously as not worth the risk

I agree. When I was looking to buy my main TV last year I would've been deciding between a Sony or Panasonic but didn't even look at the Panny options solely because of the Vestel doubt/threat!
I just think the Vestel brand is inferior. Have no problem with UMC sets though!
