Looks decent as no min spend and giving £3 off the BBC store for digital downloads to watch whenever you like. Could use it to get a discount off a series or get a free episode classic such as Alan Partridge where he meets his number 1 fan.

In return the "people's broadcaster" pumps constant right wing propaganda.
And now the want us to pay for Alan Partridge who should either be on iPlayer for free or constantly on gold.

There wasn't a denial in there. But if you're agreeing that the right does deny science and fact more often as were the points in my post, then that makes a 'left wing bias' more correct

Excellent you love the BBC so YOU PAY FOR IT. Children's TV was great if it wasn't Richard Bacon snorting coke it was Rolf, Jimmy and Stuart Hall abusing kids.
I WANT NOTHING FROM THE BBC, I ASK FOR NOTHING YET HAVE TO PAY THEM? You're insane if you think their is no bias, the BBC is the propaganda tool of the government from perpetuating lies for war to lies on the economy. The government of the day just dangle the licence fee in front of the executives and they fall into line.
I don't pay Tesco to shop at Sainsbury's but you want me to pay the BBC to watch SKY? BBC journalists are paid 40% above the sector average, nothing like compromising your soul for cash!

If you are right wing, everything left of you is left wing bias. Nothing will be middle ground unless it is as right wing as you, because nobody ever thinks they're that far to the right. Sadly, being all encompassing and not some grumpy old racist counts as left wing these days it seems, rather than what everyone should be. Even presenting scientific facts on television counts as left wing bias now, as not giving air time to non-scientific drivel is seen as not giving air time to the right
xenophon to dreamager

And the same can be said the other way around! If you are left wing then everything right of you has a right wing bias. Denying that it applies equally only shows your bias.

Normally when someone wants to frame an argument in logical terms they proceed to demonstrate their rebuttal in logical terms. You seem to have decided to skip that step and instead just posted 5 quotes apparently backing your argument? Unfortunately only the first two are actually related to BBC political bias and you seemed to have missed the nuance in the first quote.

15 Feb 172#45
A fallacious conclusion, and one that the BBC loves to trot out itself. Some quotes from BBC insiders to consider:
"The BBC is not impartial or neutral. It's a publicly funded, urban organisation with an abnormally large number of young people, ethnic minorities and gay people. It has a liberal bias not so much a party-political bias. It is better expressed as a cultural liberal bias" Andrew Marr, the Daily Mail, Oct 21st, 2006. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news.html?in_article_id=411846&in_page_id=1770
"People who know a lot more than I do may be right when they claim that [global warming] is the consequence of our own behaviour. I assume that this is why the BBC's coverage of the issue abandoned the pretence of impartiality long ago" Jeremy Paxman, Media Guardian, Jan 31st, 2007. http://media.guardian.co.uk/broadcast/story/0,,2002958,00.html
"I do remember... the corridors of Broadcasting House were strewn with empty champagne bottles. I'll always remember that", Jane Garvey, BBC Five Live, May 10th, 2007, recalling May 2nd, 1997.
Regardless, the days of the tellytax/TV licence are numbered - the BBC will have to become a subscription service, paid for only by those who wish to watch/support it.

15 Feb 17#43
i would say its a fallacious argument from both sides on the whole, of course their are people who work for the bbc that have a certain political persuasion, don't we all, but on the whole i think its fairly balanced. However threats from govrnment directed at the bbc will always raise suspicion that they are trying to influence the political agenda

Actually the BBC has a very rightwing bias. Only have to look at the coverage of Jeremy Corbyn election to see that. Overall though better to have the BBC then the unregulated mess you see in USA, wall to wall propaganda from Fox news - basically the mouthpiece of billionaire owners peddling fear and misinformation. Like with the tabloids here ( especially the Daily Mail) - all owned by millionaire, usually foreign born such a Murdoch - all with a right wing agenda. Be careful of what you wish for. I would much rather the quality and breadth the BBC gives us than what is available in any other country.
Thoughtful to Ab001
15 Feb 173#32
Fox news is right of centre but it could hardly be called wall to wall as it is only 7th in the US league tables. Meanwhile in the UK the BBC controls 70% of the UK news output.
As for it being right wing biased, that's just laughable! It dislikes Corbyn because they know he can't deliver them a victory, and it might have escaped your notice, but many Labour party members don't like him either !

Murdoch is fine - plurality in the media can only be a good thing bias to the right and bias to the left - make your choice as to where you take your entertainment. Currently we have a far left fake news purveyor which has been a malign influence on the country for decades.
I don't agree it produces high quality entertainment, those shows are very few & far between, and I think from your comment that you don't either. If it did produce something worthwhile then people would be only to happy to pay for it.

I think actually it's more 'flat earth news' - the bbc has had its journalism scaled back so much to save money it's just regurgitating press releases.
My point is - don't destroy all the bbc and the enormous good it does us for high quality entertainment, educational shows, radio channels and the like just because of a possible bias in the news reporting.
Don't be so quick to destroy the whole thing with privatisation (which incidentally, seems to lead to huge amounts of bias - see Murdoch), just to attack a tiny amount of what they do.
