Will they at any point just offer deals on the codes. Got enough boxes

23 Feb 171#11
I've just cancelled mine, and they offered a 4 month movie price for £3.99. Same for the entertainment package too. That's not the monthly rate, but a one off payment.
Scotsmania to gwaaheed
23 Feb 171#19
Never say never but these deals are on so often for the sole reason of getting the boxes into as many households as possible. There's not as much reason for them to give the vouchers away so cheaply on their own.

For me the problem with those little black boxes is with all these offers on with several months sky packs included there must be people with stacks of these at home all used up and cluttered once the 4 or 6 months has passed .

you can get the codes cheaper off ebay. I just renewed my entertainment pass for 2 months for £4.90, that's less than £2.50 a month!! similar deals for movies also on eBay.

Make sure you filter for buy it now, and purchase off a seller with multiple passes for sale. Cheapest way to get now tv passes, and they're all legit. I've never had a code not work, and I don't have any boxes sitting in a corner not doing anything.

Newbie question: Is this the new or old box?
Anyway of getting movies and entertainment on a deal.
As for movies apart from the sky movie channels and what they show at certain times is there also the downloadable content from sky movies like on the sky + box?
Also does the entertainment pass cover most of sky's other channels?
markrduk to mmurdoch
23 Feb 171#21
New box.
Yes there's deals to take both but works out about 30% off so more than buying this offer even if you don't need the boxes. Cheaper to buy one of each for the passes and sell the boxes on.
You can't download anything onto the boxes (it's all streaming) but you've got access to pretty much the same on demand content as you would with Sky including box sets etc.
There's only a few channels covered (check the website to see what you get in which pack) but it's the best of what's to offer in my opinion (Sky 1, Sky Atlantic, Comedy Central, Fox, Discovery etc) in addition to catch up from the likes of BBC, ITV Channel 4 and Channel 5 which you get whether you buy any passes or not.

The sky streams are in 720p BUT the BBC etc can be in either std or HD..It can output 1080 if needed. PLex classic loads nicely too. IMO the beeb streams have better sound than when broadcast, no more mumbleys.

You can scan through all the catch-up service content, whether it's NOW TV, iPlayer, ITV or 4oD. I haven't used the other live streams much, but you can't pause or rewind NOW TV's. But when that content is added you can with the catch-up.

For fans, Game of Thrones was available via Sky Atlantic in April 2016 with the Entertainment pass. In the run-up to the series, all the box-sets for the previous series were available. I presume they would be doing this again when the next series arrives in "mid-2017": "Game of Thrones is set to premiere on HBO later than usual, in mid-2017."
Box-sets of other series are available...
Does anyone know if you can still side load these with other apps, specifically Plex, like you could do with the original white boxes? Cheers

sorry for a newbie question but..
Can these combine packages? I have sky variety at home basically for "entertainment and kids"
I see for these packages there is a standalone entertainment and a standalone kids box...so would i have to have 2 boxes set up?..if so i might just stick to the sky box (i pay £32/m for phone, broadband and the variety package so trying to work out if these would save me anything)
thanks
tickedon
24 Feb 17#60
No. You can have two passes (entertainment + kids) on the one box. But you can also have 4 boxes per account, with 2 used at any one time. So you could put a box in the kids bedroom where they could watch cartoons etc. and you could have a box in the lounge to watch something else.
