Nothing says, "I love you mum, thanks for everything you've done for me over the years", than a crap meal in distinctly average surroundings (I should know, I had the misfortune of writing in one for a few weeks last year!).
If money really is super tight, then why not spend the money on ingredients and invite her round for a home cooked meal? I'm sure that will be better received, even if it's just for the effort you've gone to.

Do you need to purchase a meal along side or can I just drop her off and pick her up later on?

As I said in my comment, each to their own.....
It's not an attack pal, I'm sure it's a deal for some but not me. They could give us all free dinner and enough booze to sink a ship with chocolates galore and I still wouldn't take my mum here for mother's day.

No pal I agree - each to their own I suppose but the ones I've been to up my neck of the woods really aren't that bad. Maybe I'm a cheapskate though!

Nothing says 'thank you Mom' like a (bad) meal you've not had to spend a penny on for her. Expect to see Andrea Leadsom on the table opposite also.

? show her she means the world to you by taking her to a hungry horse and not paying for her food. This is as ridic and transparent as the free suit cleaning nonsense posted last month.

Nothing like saying thanks for being a great mum. Here have a microwaved pizza or microwaved mash.

The kids ice cream at these places was huge... That's all I've got to say about the actual product really.
The name however... Nothing more off-putting than the phrase "hungry horse". A bit stomach turning.

Never thought of ours as being full of "chavs", but the food isn't great and the extra charge for the kids' play area is a bit much. I wouldn't go again.

Do you ever get that feeling when you're half way through eating a horse and you think to yourself, 'I'm not as hungry as I thought I was'.

My partner got really sick after the one time we ate in a Hungry Horse, never again! He didn't feel right almost immediately and was up spewing his guts out all night. Obviously can't be sure it was from their food, but it's not an unreasonable assumption either knowing the state of these places. Also there was a large group from the travelling community running round the restaurant screaming and jumping on the tables. Wearing PJs and dressing gowns. Wish I was exaggerating but I'm not.

You guys could really do with moving cos I'm not being funny but the local Hungry Horse outlets round my neck of the woods aren't full of chavs and travellers. Just hold on a sec whilst I check Hotukdeals for a cheap mortgage deal and I'll forward you the link! Haha
