The battery was running down too quickly and the back camera had stopped working (seemingly a common problem).
Mine was a 16G model and I did fancy the Moto G4 because of the microSD card alloweing loads of music to be stored on it. No regrets, as its almost like a 1:1 replacement!

Has anyone tried charging their Moto G4 Play on a Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 charger? From what I've read this is the same as what Motorola call "TurboPower", and all G4 variants are compatible. However, mine doesn't appear to be recognising it as TurboPower when I plug her in. Anyway else have success?

I believe the Play version doesn't have TurboPower, the other 2 do

I got mine long before X-Mas. Retired by £300 Google Nexus 5 to use this £79 phone and ...
its brilliant! Exactly the same but I noticed no compass so Flight Radar 24 binnoculars doesn't work.
As for this 1G RAM ... I have never noticed that being an issue.
Great phone for the money. I have a 64G microSim loaded with music in it - works a treat!

same here, my 3 year old Nexus finally died on me. Tried the lenovo p2 for a week but too big for one hand and far too many problems (sent back to Three) so got this and a decent SD card. brilliant
Thanks for the info, very useful. Apparently could also be cheaper than the G4 ?

Here is my thoughts one week in to owning one.
- battery is excellent
- screen is great
- operating system is great
- speed is average, tried running Spotify and google maps at same time and it just grinds to an absolute halt. Both still work but doing anything else is difficult and a couple of times Spotify crashed.
It's fine for my use but if you want to multitask high powered apps

G5 is rumoured to start at €189 (or £159) which is about the same as the G4. Nothing is certain until the official announcement of course, but there are plenty of leaks

I'm currently using one of these, and I must say that it's certainly a capable handset considering the price.
The only place it falls down for me is when trying to use the Android Auto app, which requires a lot of RAM to function properly. The phone becomes very bogged down and very slow (voice search can take over a minute to respond) and if playing music over Bluetooth it also stutters and pauses constantly. It works ok without Android Auto loaded though.
The limited RAM hasn't bothered me other than that though.

PayPal is the best bet when ordering from Motorola. Delivery time is usually within 10 days from time of order, but can push 15 days if ordering on a card, assuming the payment is accepted at all.

Depends on how much RAM you have in your current phone. If you've got 2GB, this phone is worse as it only has 1GB.

Yes, that was exactly what I meant - geocaching apps, and the wonderful Alpinequest walking app wouldn't work as well. My old Samsung Note 2 has an electronic compass and an air pressure sensor (barometer) and I am struggling to replace it with anything other than a premium phone, especially as I also want NFC for a couple of things.

UKWELCOME10 works with all handsets I think. UKWINTER1 takes £30 off the G4 Plus, bringing it down to £189. Very tempting, but no compass which I happen to like.

Use codes KENSMOTO and UKWELCOME10
