I'd be put off by the bad wi-fi on this 8GB version.
Anyway, just to say that you can buy the 32GB/2GB S905X Beelink Mini MXIII II (the names do get confusing, basically it's Mk2) for £41.99 from this Chinese seller, UK Plug http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/282303565256
Gets a stonking review from RedSkull https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hd1GI64KYvs who reckons it runs better than the S912 Beelink GT1! This also has dual band wi-fi which is very good, apparently. Not rooted, though.

This or Mi Box? or Apple Fire TV?

If Kodi is all you want to use it for, Libreelec is a must. My Librelec M8S II puts my £100+ minix box to shame.
Save your money and stick with the S905X boxes which are more than capable. The S912 isn't really the big upgrade it might appear on the surface.

"Mi Box supports both Dolby Digital Plus and DTS multichannel HD audio encoding.
The result is smoother, dynamic, immersive and more realistic STEREO surround
sound during ultra HD Blu-ray video playback."
DTS 2.0+ Digital Out, Dolby Digital Plus
Up to 7.1 pass through
So I'm afraid it isn't going to do surround

If you're after an Android box I recommend the "H96 Pro" which retails for a bit more, but spec wise waaaay worth it considering you will get 4x the storage and will be able to do 4K + HDR
I can back this up - Love my MiBox with SPMC installed

overpriced compared to a few weeks ago. was around £26 then. there are different versions of this product. the ones manufactured after November 2016 are the ones with Wi-Fi issues as the manufacturer changed the Wi-Fi chip used, so most people getting these new ones will end up with a dud.

Hi stix, I've not had any issues with the wifi I've noticed the Bluetooth is always on but never thought to switch it off as not had any problems.
I have this model and wifi is terrible. Have to use it wired all the time.

Just out of interest, does anybody know why 32GB boxes only have 26GB of flash storage whereas 8GB boxes have 8GB and 16GB boxes have 16GB?
There is no overhead on flash storage so there is no logical explanation and even if that were the case, 8GB and 16GB boxes would be worse affected.

Had one of these for a while great bita kit, FYI regarding wi-fi I get minimum 20meg in another room, same floor away from router by about 20ft with doors shut, from 50meg fiber. Same room as the router should be no probs at all. Making sure your router is in the open as much as poss should help if you are getting low speeds and can not direct inject.
BTW Android 6.0 is a must if you are buying now and you want to use kodi17 at some point.

The Mi Box 3 I posted certainly does: "Mi Box supports both Dolby Digital Plus and DTS multichannel HD audio encoding.

Or this from the UK with telephone support if you need it, plus forums too.
I highly recommend you spend a bit more and get the Xiaomi MI BOX III (3) from this deal I posted (£52.21 with TCB).

Yep that one does look like delivery is china. The one i got is from a different seller but when i checked he had no stock but mine came in 2 days.Easy enough to search Amazon for a similar box price tho.

This is not cheap enough to take the risk of dealing with gearbest , and risking the chance of customs charges.
As already stated you can get boxes with identical specs from UK sellers.
Watch out for the Amazon model posted by SilveBlack - this is also delivered from China - take note of the delivery date under the price . Look for one on Amazon that is fulfilled by Amazon - so sent quick from the UK.
There are a couple on Amazon at £32.99 delivered ( fulfilled by Amazon - so you will get it before the end of the week ) This looks the best of the two at £32.99

How easy is to get this to play files stored on a NAS or Windows PC?

Very, very easy. I have a couple of similarly spec'd devices that stream from my Synology NAS to VLC and Kodi out of the box. UPNP media serving makes it a breeze. I tend to use VLC on mine due to the simplicity.
