I really hope it's better than the mobile version - or, at least, it's not monetised like it. Can't believe it's three months away, though :disappointed:

The mobile game is great but yes I hope this is better which I'm sure it will be

Isn't that just footage from the mobile game? It even says download from the app store at the end.

The adverts for it (console/pc version) on the app basically said it will be the same game as the app but have higher quality visuals and have a few extra game modes, capture the flag, team-play type stuff etc.

so not great then, suppose that explains the budget £20 price point.

Although incorrect it's a good question. I reckon it was Street Racer on the SNES.

Yeh, I would imagine £20 is the top end RRP and it'll come down fast once released.
I would hope there is no in-game purchases/upgrades at that price, that's not been mentioned by codemasters yet.

Mind linking, seen none other than the recent iOS game

SNES/Megadrive ones were great.

has this been over hyped? it's a £20 game at launch.

Hopefully it will prove to be great, and I will then buy it for £20 - or less. But no one knows yet. No reviews or even in in-game footage.
If people have a spare £20 they don't need, by all means take a punt on an unknown game, based purely on its mobile version :smirk: Me, I'll wait a bit.

This is the one I found for PS4 gameplay, I'd imagine the XBox version would be pretty similar, looks okay to me, but will probably wait for a price drop before purchasing as my backlog of games to play is big:
that's not micro machines he's playing there. he's alluding to the fact that this game is similar to micro machines. it's a bit of a clickbait title he's used there. that game he's playing was free on PS4 earlier last year. can't remember what it's called.

That's Table Top Racing on PS4, it was free with PS plus last year it's not a great game.

Table Top Racing isn't actually a bad little game, I've done quite a bit on it and my two kids go on it
A better Mario-kart type of game though is Beach Buggy Racing, it's about £3 on PSN, I've gone through quite a bit of the career and the kids love it
I have fond memories of the MegaDrive version so I hope it does, but I doubt this Micro Machines game will be as good as either of those

Base take payment on despatch, and it's easy to cancel an order in advance of release.
I'm sure there will be footage of the game available before it launches. If there's any reason to cancel, I'll do that. But at the moment I don't feel any reason not to get a pre-order in at a decent price.

I downloaded the iOS Micro Machines, that this is based on.
Plays well but is predictably tediously stuffed with timers, premium currency and IAPs. Will be interesting to see how they re-engineer that aspect for a premium price release.
It is just a mobile game though, hence not really accurate to think of a £20 price point as being cheap. IMHO if freemium parts are properly removed, it is worth a £15 release on consoles.
£20 is fair only if they also add a LOT of new content to the mobile game.

So in short, we really don't know what form this game will take yet?
Opening post
Anyway, this seems to be the cheapest price around (even better than TGC at £19.95).
Pre-order for 21st April.

The first 4 player split screen racing game!!
I would hope there is no in-game purchases/upgrades at that price, that's not been mentioned by codemasters yet.
update posted Jan 19th confirming 4 players on one system
