My local lidl in irlam had the lungo nespresso compatible coffee pods on buy1 get 1 free. So 20 pods for £1.79 working out at just under 9p a pod. And they taste pretty good too, beats an overpriced 30p nespresso pod :stuck_out_tongue:

I don't object to buying these as they are Lidl's own, they are generic and not made by Nestlé. I won't buy anything made by or associated with Nestlé on ethical grounds as their aggressive promoting of infant formula over breastfeeding has led to health problems and deaths among infants in less economically developed countries. As this is the case, do Lidl and the likes occasionally sell compatible machines that fit these pods?

They do, however the bar isn't quite as good as the proper nespresso machines.
If you are averse to buying a nespresso machine from nestle perhaps buying a refurbished machine or used one is a compromise?
If that's not an option I seem to recall Costco sell a nespresso compatible machine & it's close to the bar level of the genuine nespresso machine.
I use these at work with a Cafetiere Hot Mug, just pull of the foil and hey presto fresh ground coffee every cup . Works out cheaper and tastier than the 80p -£1 a cup out of the works coffee machine.

At my lidl it was just the lungo ones but I use the lungo ones as short espresso shots, they taste strong it's just the strength is only 5 out of 10

These things are never good, just get the official ones.

These work well. They are individually wrapped as they have a 'mesh' built into the pod so are open and free flowing in the machine. The front is the usual foil face.
When you open the wrapper you get the nice aroma.

Tried these and very poor for me. These are only good if you like your coffee weak. Half the price for half the coffee. Interested to hear if anyone else disappointed?

In my lidl they had the normal lungo ones in the black box at full price where the coffee and teas are on the isle but these are limited time special offer ones in a cream box, so in my lidl they where near the world foods bit, not near the rest of the coffee pods

Are these different in flavor to the normal pods? They say special edition or something

Yeah they are special edition, I think they just taste the same.

They're single origin, so Colombian, Kenyan (both lungo) and Monsoon Malabar (espresso). In my local only the espresso was marked BOGOF but all three came up at the checkout

I've tried loads of compatibles and these are one of my favs, I like the Purple "Viola" for Espresso, I do use the Blue "Modena" every morning as a lungo.
