According to http://murciatoday.com/murcia-and-spanish-news-round_up-week-ending-3rd-february-2017_33809-a.html there is no real shortage - it seems to be down to UK not wanting to pay the price. New crops are already replacing the damaged ones from December.

The title says 10 lettuces for a penny. THIS IS MISLEADING and does notmentioned that they are seeds!

I don't get why you're so upset by this? It's not offending anyone, and nobody is going to buy the seeds for £1 expecting 1250 lettuces to arrive at their door...
